Determination of the major geochemical processes of groundwater along the Cretaceous-Tertiary boundary of Trichinopoly,Tamilnadu,India

The hydrogeochemical variations in groundwater are mainly influenced by lithology,residence time of water in the aquifer matrix,and anthropogenic *** study was focused on the geochemical variations of groundwater in different lithological units(Archaean,Cretaceous,Tertiary,and Quaternary)by understanding the major factors governing the geochemical variations in each *** 71 groundwater samples were collected from these rock types,namely,Archaean(14),Cretaceous(37),Tertiary(11),Quaternary(9).The collected samples were measured for major ions and they were used for preparation of standard geochemical plots and ionic *** analysis and factor score were used to identify the major factors controlling the hydrochemistry and their spatial distribution in the study *** addition,geochemical model,WATEQ 4 F was used to determine the saturation condition of carbonate and sulphate minerals in the ***–Cl and mixed Ca–Na–HCO3 were the dominant hydrochemical facies irrespective of lithological *** overall interpretation of geochemical data revealed that leaching of secondary salts,weathering and ion exchange reaction along the groundwater flow path through various lithological units,and anthropogenic influence from domestic sewages and agricultural activities constitute the major geochemical processes in the study ***,this study brings out the multiple hydrogeochemical process in the complex geological terrain along the Cretaceous-Tertiary boundary.

Exploring the Synergy: Experimental and Theoretical Investigation of Steel and Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) Reinforced Slab Incorporating Alccofine and M-Sand

Introduction: This study investigates the Experimental and Theoretical Investigation of Steel and Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) Reinforced Slab Incorporating Alccofine and M-sand. Objective: Specific objectives include evaluating the mechanical properties and structural behaviour of steel and GFRP-reinforced one-way slabs and comparing experimental and theoretical predictions. Methods: Four different mix proportions were arrived at, comprising both conventional concrete and Alccofine-based concrete. In each formulation, a combination of normal river sand and M-sand was utilized. Results: Concrete with Alccofine exhibits superior mechanical properties, while M-sand incorporation minimally affects strength but reduces reliance on natural sand. GFRP-reinforced slabs display distinct brittle behaviour with significant deflections post-cracking, contrasting steel-reinforced slabs’ gradual, ductile failure. Discrepancies between experimental data and design recommendations underscore the need for guideline refinement. Conclusion: Alccofine and M-sand enhance concrete properties, but reinforcement type significantly influences slab behaviour. GFRP-reinforced slabs, though exhibiting lower values than steel, offer advantages in harsh environments, warranting further optimization.

To convert invisible, unstructured and time-sensitive machine data into information for decision making is a challenge. Tools available today handle only structured data. All the transaction data are getting captured without understanding its future relevance and usage. It leads to other big data analytics related issue in storing, archiving, processing, not bringing in relevant business insights to the business user. In this paper, we are proposing a context aware pattern methodology to filter relevant transaction data based on the preference of business.

ART Based Reliable Method for Prediction of Agricultural Land Changes Using Remote Sensing

This paper focuses on prediction of change in agricultural lands by using ART2 algorithm. The existing method used ENVI and ARCGIS software to predict the changes in land, which showed less accuracy due to human errors. To overcome this user friendly GUI based ART2 algorithm has been developed in java to obtain more accuracy in prediction of changes in land. The input is satellite temporal images of the years 1990 and 2014. By using the ART2 algorithm, the input images of the years 1990 and 2014 are classified, where the features are identified to form cluster. The clustered image is given as input and pixel to pixel comparison method in ART2 is implemented in java, for detecting the changes in agricultural lands. The comparison results of ENVI and ARCGIS and GUI based ART2 with in situ data show that the prediction of changes in agricultural land is more accurate in the case of GUI based ART2 implementation.

Objective:To determine the effect of phytochemicals in acute and repeated dose of 28-day oral toxicity of Kuruthi Azhal Chooranam(KAC)in Sprague Dawley rats of both ***:Acute oral toxicity was conducted with 2000 mg/kg body weight of KAC orally and the treated animals were observed for signs of toxicity at 30 min,1,2,4 and 24 h and for up to 14 *** repeated 28-day oral toxicity study,the KAC formulation was administered orally with 600,900 and 1200 mg/kg body weight/day to all the three groups of *** animals were observed for clinical signs of toxicity,mortality and morbidity throughout the *** body weight,feed consumption,haematological,plasma biochemistry and serum electrolytes,gross pathology,weights of the organ and histology were studied for no-observed-adverse-effect *** dose of KAC formulation and control reversal groups were also included for delayed toxic effects ***:In the acute toxicity study of KAC formulation,2000 mg/kg body weight dose exhibited no toxic signs and mortality during *** sub-acute 28-day repeated dose toxicity study,there was no significant difference found between control and KAC treated groups(body weight,haematology,biochemistry and serum electrolytes).No abnormalities was found in gross pathology,organs weight and histological observation after KAC ***:The current study suggests that LD_(50)of KAC was>2000 mg/kg and no-observed-adverse-effect level was>1200 mg/kg/day in *** could be used as Siddha drug for various indications.

Acaricidal activity of synthesized titanium dioxide nanoparticles using Calotropis gigantea against Rhipicephalus microplus and Haemaphysalis bispinosa

Objective:To assess the acaricidal activity of titanium dioxide nanoparticles(TiO_2 NPs)synthesized from flower aqueous extract of Calotropis gigantea(***)against the larvae of Rhipicephalus(Boophilus)microplus[R.(B.)microplus]and the adult of Haemaphrysalis bispinosa(***).Methods:The lyophilized *** flower aqueous extract of 50 mg was added with 100 mL of TiO(OH_2)(10 mM)and magnetically stirred for 6 *** TiO_2 NPs were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD).Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),Scanning electron microscopy(SEM),and Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDX).The synthesised TiO_2 NPs were tested against the larvae of R(B.)microplus and adult of *** were exposed to filter paper impregnated ***:XRD confirmed the crystalline nature of the nanoparticles with the mean size of 10.52 *** functional groups for synthesized TiO_2NPs were 1405.19,and 1053.45 cm^(-1)for-NH_2 bending,primary amines and amides and 1053.84and 1078.45 cm^(-1)for *** micrographs of the synthesized TiO_2 NPs showed the aggregated and spherical in *** maximum efficacy was observed in the aqueous flower extract of *** and synthesized TiO_2 NPs against R.(B.)microplus(LC_(50)=24.63 and 5.43 mg/L and r^2=0.960 and 0.988)and against ***(LC_(50)=35.22 and 9.15 mg/L and r^2=0.969 and 0.969).***:The synthesized TiO_2 NPs were highly stable and had significant acaricidal activity against the larvae of R.(B.)microplus and adult of *** study provides the first report of synthesized TiO_2 NPs and possessed excellent anti-parasitic activity.

A study on the mixing proportion in groundwater samples by using Piper diagram and Phreeqc model

Piper (1944) diagram has been the basis for several important interpretations of the hydrogeochemical data. As seen in this diagram, most natural waters contain relatively few dissolved constituents, with cations (metals or bases) and anions (acid radicles) in chemical equilibrium with one another. Apart from the facies representation, the composition of the mixed sample can be identified in terms of the composition of the parental solution. To bring out this advantage of the Piper diagram, a study was conducted in the Kalpakkam region of Tamilnadu, South India. By taking the geology and water table into consideration, two sample locations were selected as parent solution and third one as the mixture sample. All three samples were analyzed for calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), sodium (Na), potassium (K), chloride (Cl), sulphate (SO4) and phosphate (PO4) by Ion Chromatograph (Metrohm IC 861). HCO3 was determined by volumetric titration. The Piper diagram shows that parent solutions clustered towards Na-Mg-Ca-HCO3-Cl and Na-HCO3 facies, and the mixing sample belongs to Na-Mg-HCO3 facies. Phreeqc interac-tive (Ver 2.8) along with the original composition of the mixture sample was used to correlate the mixing proportion identified by the Piper diagram.
