A Systematic Review on Antituberculosis Drug Discovery and Antimycobacterial Potential of Biologically Synthesized Silver nanoparticles:Overview and Future Perspectives

Rapid emergence and quick evolution of drug-resistant and aggressive mycobacterial strains have resulted in the present antimycobacterial drug crisis and the persistence of tuberculosis as a major public health ***/biological nanotechnologies constitute an interesting area of research for discovering antimycobacterial *** review focused on the biological(green)synthesis of silver nanoparticles(AgnPs)as an alternative source of antimycobacterial *** for this study were searched and screened from three electronic databases(Google Scholar,PubMed and ScienceDirect)following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses *** from in total 17 eligible studieswere reported in this systematic *** of the 17 studies used plants to fabricate AgnPs,whereas the remaining five studies used microorganisms(bacteria and/or fungi).Silver as part of silver nitrate(AgnO3)was themetal precursor reported for the synthesis of AgnPs in these *** nanoparticles were mostly spherical,with sizes ranging from12 *** minimum inhibitory concentrations varied between studies and were divided into three groups:(i)those more effective than the antibiotic(controls),(ii)those more effective than plant extracts,and(iii)those less effective than the antibiotic *** addition,little or no cytotoxicity effects were *** nanoparticles were also shown to be highly specific or selective toward mycobacterial *** systematic review highlights the antimycobacterial potential of biologically synthesized AgnPs,underscoring the possibility of discovering/developing new antimycobacterial agents using biological synthesis approaches with less toxicity and high selectivity.

Survey on solidwastesmanagement by composting: Optimization of key process parameters for biofertilizer synthesis from agro wastes using response surface methodology (RSM)

The optimization of key process parameters for the transformation of agrowastes into biofertilizer has been demonstrated using response surface methodology(RSM).Biofertilizerwas produced by composting using 120 L capacity drum made of polyethylene as the *** time(X1),dosage ratio(X2)and moisture content(X3)were the independent factors while percentage nitrogen,phosphorus and potassium(n.P.K)were the response *** outcomes exhibited that composting time,dosage ratio and moisture content all significantly affects the mineralization of n.P.K at probability value of *** coefficients of determination also called regression coefficients of 98.60%,99.79%and 97.80%for nitrogen,phosphorus and potassiumobserved between the predicted and the real value are obvious that the developed regression models can fit the experimental data *** was seen from the optimization studies that the pinnacle value of n.P.K from the ideal conditions are 9.62%,8.97%and *** of the composite uncovered that biofertilizer produced has a high potential for commercial application on agricultural *** can be concluded that combination of sawdust,sewage sludge and vegetable waste is a good mixture for biofertilizer ***,the nutrients release by the compost materials during the process of composting may be maximized when process conditions are circumspectly managed within the reported optimal value.

Integrated Geological and Geophysical Mapping for Groundwater Potential Studies at Ekwegbe-Agu and Environs, Enugu State, nigeria

The study integrates both the geological and geophysical mapping techniques for groundwater potential studies at Ekwegbe-Agu and the environs, Enugu state, nigeria for optimal citing of borehole. Located in the Anambra Basin between latitudes 6˚43'n and 6˚47'n and longitudes 7˚28'E and 7˚32'E, it is stratigraphycally underlain by, from bottom to top, the Enugu/nkporo, Mamu and Ajali Formation respectively, a complex geology that make citing of productive borehole in the area problematic leading to borehole failure and dry holes due to inadequate sampling. The study adopted a field and analytic sampling approach, integrating field geological, electrical resistivity and self-potential methods. The software, SedLog v3.1, InterpexIx1Dv.3, and Surfer v10 were employed for the data integration and interpretation. The result of the geological field and borehole data shows 11 sedimentary facies consisting of sandstone, shales and heterolith of sandstone/shale, with the aquifer zone mostly prevalent in the more porous sand-dominated horizons. Mostly the AK and HK were the dominant curve types. An average of 6 geo-electric layers were delineated across all transects with resistivity values ranging from 25.42 - 105.85 Ωm, 186.38 - 3383.3 Ωm, and 2992 - 6286.4 Ωm in the Enugu, Mamu and Ajali Formations respectively. The resistivity of the main aquifer layer ranges from 1 to 500 Ωm. The aquifer thickness within the study area varies between 95 and 140 m. The western and northwestern part of the study area which is underlain mainly by the Ajali Formation showed the highest groundwater potential in the area and suitable for citing productive boreholes.

Modeling and optimization of Terminalia catappa *** oil extraction using response surface methodology and artificial neural network

In this study,response surface methodology(RSM)and artificial neural network(Ann)were used to optimize Terminalia catappa *** oil(TCKO)*** extraction method was used for the oil extraction,with n-hexane as the extracting *** highest oil yield was obtained at 55℃,150 min,and 0.5 *** physicochemical properties of the TCKO were determined using standard *** chromatographic(GC)analysis and Fourier Transform Infrared(FTIR)were respectively,used to determine the fatty acid composition and prevalent functional groups in *** optimum conditions of temperature,particle size and extraction time,the RSM predicted oil yield was 62.92%,which was validated as 60.34%,whereas Ann predicted yield was 60.39%,which was validated as 60.40%.The results of the physicochemical characterization of TCKO showed that the dielectric strength(DS),viscosity,flash and pour points values were 30.61 KV,20.29 mm^2 s^−1,260°C,and 3℃,*** characterization and FTIR results of TCKOindicated its potential industrial application,especially as transformer *** acids compositions result indicated that the oil was highly unsaturated;while XRD results of Terminalia catappa ***(TCK)samples obtained,both before and after extraction,showed difference in their peaks and corresponding intensities,due to the damage effect of ***,the obtained optimization results indicated that Ann was a better and more effective tool than RSM,due to its higher R^2 and lower RMS values.

Estimating the Monetary Value of Hours Lost to the nigerian Public Healthcare System When Full-Time Government Employee Doctors Engage in Dual Practice

Background: Dual Practice (DP) allows full-time public sector doctors to concurrently offer the same clinical services in the private sector. The debate against this practice seems to be largely influenced by its potential to reduce the contracted hours in the public sector and shift attention to private work. Purpose: The purpose of this secondary research is to estimate the monetary value of hours lost to the nigerian public healthcare system when full-time government employee doctors are engaged in private practice. It attempts to quantify the amount of resource outflow from the public system due to absences and lateness arising from competition for time between the public system’s contracted hours and private practice. Methods: Sensitivity analysis in Excel 2010 was used to calculate doctors’ hourly pay in the public sector using the 2015 Consolidated Medical Salary Structure for medical and dental officers in nigeria’s federal public service. The parameters used for the calculation were the official 40-hour working week and the average monthly gross pay of doctors on different grade levels. Hypothetical scenarios of hours lost due to absences associated with DP were created. The value of different hypothetical hour losses by the percentage of doctors assumed to engage in dual practice across all doctor grade levels was then computed. Results: The estimated annual value of hours lost from dual practice to a single public tertiary care hospital was n4,851,754 or 15,855 USD (best case scenario) and n19,407,017 or 63,422 USD (worst case scenario) for the normal routine work and n1,800,133 or 5883 USD (best case scenario) and n3,600,266 or 11,766 USD (worst case scenario) for the on-call duty. Conclusion: The government may have been paying salaries for large volumes of work not rendered in the public sector. The overall financial impact of dual practice in the nigerian public system might be negative.
