Background:Parkinson’s disease(PD)is a neurodegenerative disorder whose diagnosis is often challenging because symptoms may overlap with neurodegenerative *** is characterized by intraneuronal accumulation of abnormalα-synuclein in brainstem while neurodegenerative parkinsonisms might be associated with accumulation of eitherα-synuclein,as in the case of Multiple System Atrophy(MSA)or tau,as in the case of Corticobasal degeneration(CBD)and Progressive Supranuclear Palsy(PSP),in other disease-specific brain *** diagnosis of all these diseases can be formulated only neuropathologically by detection and localization ofα-synuclein or tau aggregates in the *** evidence suggests that trace-amount of these proteins can appear in peripheral tissues,including receptor neurons of the olfactory mucosa(OM).Methods:We have set and standardized the experimental conditions to extend the ultrasensitive Real Time Quaking Induced Conversion(RT-QuIC)assay for OM *** particular,by using human recombinantα-synuclein as substrate of reaction,we have assessed the ability of OM collected from patients with clinical diagnoses of PD and MSA to induceα-synuclein aggregation,and compared their seeding ability to that of OM samples collected from patients with clinical diagnoses of CBD and ***:Our results showed that a significant percentage of MSA and PD samples inducedα-synuclein aggregation with high efficiency,but also few samples of patients with the clinical diagnosis of CBD and PSP caused the same ***,the final RT-QuIC aggregates obtained from MSA and PD samples owned peculiar biochemical and morphological features potentially enabling their ***:Our study provide the proof-of-concept that olfactory mucosa samples collected from patients with PD and MSA possess important seeding activities forα-*** studies are required for(i)estimating sensitivity and specificity of the technique and

BACKGROUND Interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome(IC/BPS)is an at least 6-mo noninfectious bladder inflammation of unknown origin characterized by chronic suprapubic,abdominal,and/or pelvic *** the term cystitis suggests an inflammatory or infectious origin,no definite cause has been *** occurs in both sexes,but women are twice as much *** To systematically review evidence of psychiatric/psychological changes in persons with IC/*** Hypothesizing that particular psychological characteristics could underpin IC/BPS,we investigated in three databases the presence of psychiatric symptoms and/or disorders and/or psychological characteristics in patients with IC/BPS using the following strategy:("interstitial cystitis"OR"bladder pain syndrome")AND("mood disorder"OR depressive OR antidepressant OR depression OR depressed OR hyperthymic OR mania OR manic OR rapid cyclasterisk OR dysthymiasterisk OR dysphoriasterisk).RESULTS On September 27,2023,the PubMed search produced 223 articles,CINAHL 62,and the combined PsycLIT/PsycARTICLES/PsycINFO/Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection search *** on *** produced 14 studies,of which none had available *** were peer-reviewed articles reporting psychiatric/psychological symptoms in patients with IC/BPS,i.e.63 articles spanning from 2000 to October *** studies identified depression and anxiety problems in the IC/BPS population,along with sleep problems and the tendency to *** Psychotherapies targeting catastrophizing and life stress emotional awareness and expression reduced perceived pain in women with IC/*** concepts should be considered when implementing treatments aimed at reducing IC/BPS-related pain.

Asia has the highest incidence of infection from Aeromonas,whereas cases in the west are *** SUMMARY We report the case of a 64-year-old woman with advanced pancreatic cancer and jaundice who manifested fever,abdominal pain,severe thrombocytopenia,anemia and kidney failure following the insertion of a percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage. Blood culture results revealed the presence of Aeromonas veronii biovar veronii(A. veronii biovar veronii). After antibiotic therapy and transfusions,the life-threatening clinical conditions of the patient improved and she was *** This was a rare case of infection,probably the first to be reported in West countries,caused by A. veronii biovar veronii following biliary drainage. Heart failure(HF)has been defined as global disease of pandemic proportions,since it affects around 26 million people worldwide.[1]According to a recent study,age is the most important factor influencing the prevalence of HF,as it is for most other chronic conditions.[2]This means that,with the predicted aging of the population(the proportion of the world’s population aged 60 years and over will nearly double from 2015 to 2050),[3]there will be a growth in the total burden of HF,and a rise in the number of comorbidities in HF *** to a recent study,almost 86%of adults with HF have two or more comorbid conditions.[4]Comorbidity,defined as the co-existence of one or more additional conditions in individuals with a specified index medical condition,[5]adds to the complexity of treating elderly patients with HF.

Objective:Bone metastasis is a clinically important outcome of prostate carcinoma(PC).We focused on the phenotypic and functional characterization of a particularly aggressive phenotype within the androgen-independent bone metastasis-derived PC3 cell *** cells,originated from the spontaneous conversion of a CD44-negative subpopulation,stably express the CD44 v8-10 isoform(CD44 v8-10 pos)and display stem cell-like features and a marked invasive phenotype in vitro that is lost upon CD44 v8-10 ***:Flow cytometry,enzyme-linked immunoassay,immunofluorescence,and Western blot were used for phenotypic and immunologic ***-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction and functional assays were used to assess ***:Analysis of epithelial–mesenchymal transition markers showed that CD44 v8-10 pos PC3 cells surprisingly display epithelial phenotype and can undergo osteomimicry,acquiring bone cell phenotypic and behavioral *** of specific si RNA evidenced the ability of CD44 v8-10 variant to confer osteomimetic features,hence the potential to form bone-specific ***,the ability of tumors to activate immunosuppressive mechanisms which counteract effective immune responses is a sign of the aggressiveness of a *** we report that CD44 v8-10 pos cells express programmed death ligand 1,a negative regulator of anticancer immunity,and secrete exceptionally high amounts of interleukin-6,favoring osteoclastogenesis and immunosuppression in bone ***,we identified a novel pathway activated by CD44 v8-10,involving tafazzin(TAZ)and likely the Wnt/TAZ axis,known to play a role in upregulating osteomimetic ***:CD44 v8-10 could represent a marker of a more aggressive bone metastatic PC population exerting a driver role in osteomimicry in bone.A novel link between TAZ and CD44 v8-10 is also shown.
