GIS-based Evaluation on the Fault Motion-Induced Coseismic Landslides

Earthquake-induced potential landslides are commonly estimated using landslide susceptibility maps. Nevertheless, the fault location is not identified and the ground motion caused by it is unavailable in the map. Thus, potential coseismic landslides for a specific fault motion-induced earthquake could not be predicted using the map. It is meaningful to incorporate the fault location and ground motion characteristics into the landslide predication model. A new method for a specific fault motion-induced coseismic landslide prediction model using GIS （Geographic Information System） is proposed herein. Location of mountain ridges, slope gradients over 45~, PVGA （Peak Vertical Ground Accelerations） exceeded o.15 g, and PHGA （Peak Horizontal Ground Accelerations） exceeded o.25 g of slope units were representing locations that initiated landslides during the 1999 chi-chi earthquake in Taiwan. These coseismic landslide characteristics were used to identify areas where landslides occurred during Meishan fault motion-induced strong ground motions in chiayi County in Taiwan. The strong ground motion （over 8 Gal in the database, 1 Gal = 0.0l m/s2, and 1 g = 981 GaD characteristics were evaluated by the fault length, site distance to the fault, and topography, and their attenuation relations are presented in GIS. The results of the analysis show that coseismic landslide areas could be identified promptly using GIS. The earthquake intensity and focus depthhave visible effects on ground motion. The shallower the focus depth, the larger the magnitude increase of the landslides. The GIS-based landslide predication method is valuable combining the geomorphic characteristics and ground motion attenuation relationships for a potential region landslide hazard assessment and in disaster mitigation planning.

The rapid development of additive manufacturing technology has offered a new avenue for designing and fabricating high wave-absorbing meta *** this study,the mechanical properties and broadband absorption performance of Poly-Ether-Ether-Ketone(PEEK)–based electromagnetic wave–absorbing composite materials was *** high-performance polymer PEEK was used as the matrix,and the materials with electromagnetic wave loss,such as reduced graphene oxide,Carbonyl Iron(CI),and Flake CI(FCI),were used as *** on the theory of impedance matching,a wave-absorbing structure with a gradual impedance gradient was designed and *** test results showed that at the 2.0–18.0 GHz frequency band,the coverage rate of the effective absorption bandwidth was up to 72.0%,the average optimal reflectivity was–18.09 dB,and the wide-angle absorption range was 0°–30°.The advantages of additive manufacturing technology in designing and fabricating wave-absorbing structures are presented,demonstrating that the technology is an effective method for creating broadband absorbing structures.

Effect of liquid surface depression size on discharge characteristics and chemical distribution in the plasma-liquid anode system

Atmospheric pressure plasma-liquid interactions exist in a variety of applications,including wastewater treatment,wound sterilization,and *** practice,the phenomenon of liquid surface depression will inevitably *** applied gas will cause a depression on the liquid surface,which will undoubtedly affect the plasma generation and further affect the application ***,the effect of liquid surface deformation on the plasma is still *** this work,numerical models are developed to reveal the mechanism of liquid surface depressions affecting plasma discharge characteristics and the consequential distribution of plasma species,and further study the influence of liquid surface depressions of different sizes generated by different helium flow rates on the *** show that the liquid surface deformation changes the initial spatial electric field,resulting in the rearrangement of electrons on the liquid *** charges deposited on the liquid surface further increase the degree of distortion of the electric ***,the electric field and electron distribution affected by the liquid surface depression significantly influence the generation and distribution of active species,which determines the practical effectiveness of the relevant *** work explores the phenomenon of liquid surface depression,which has been neglected in previous related work,and contributes to further understanding of plasma-liquid interactions,providing better theoretical guidance for related applications and technologies.

Enhancement of low-temperature toughness of Fe-Mn-C-Al alloy by rare earth Ce-modified inclusions

Fe-Mn-C-Al alloys have been recognized as promising materials for certain low-temperature applications due to their exceptional mechanical properties and ***,their limited low-temperature toughness restricts their large-scale applications in specific *** influence of trace amounts of rare earth cerium(Ce)on the low-temperature toughness of Fe-18Mn-0.6C-1.8Al alloys was *** addition of Ce effectively alters the inclu-sions in the alloy,transforming large-sized irregular inclusions into fine ellipsoidal rare earth *** leads to a significant reduction in both the proportion and average size of the inclusions,resulting in their effective dispersion throughout the matrix and improved cryogenic *** presence of Ce-containing inclusions within the matrix reduces stress concentration,thereby inhibiting microcrack formation and improving impact absorption ***-cally,the addition of rare earth Ce alters the fracture behavior of the material at room temperature and low temperature,changing from brittle cleavage fracture to a more ductile failure *** impact toughness of the Fe-Mn-C-Al alloy is significantly improved by the addition of 0.0048 wt.%Ce,particularly at-196℃where the impact toughness reaches 103.6 J/cm^(2),representing an impressive improvement of 87.3%.

Host-induced silencing of MpPar6 confers Myzus persicae resistance in transgenic rape plants

Plant-mediated RNA interference(RNAi)has emerged as a promising technology for insect *** green peach aphid,Myzus persicae,feeds on over 400 species of host *** napus(rape)is the second most important oilseed crop *** persicae is highly reproductive and causes severe damage to the rape plants due to its quite flexible life *** this study,we tested the RNAi effects of transgenic rape plants on *** in vitro feeding *** with artificial diets containing double-stranded RNAs(dsRNAs)targeting seven aphid genes,we identified a new gene encoding the partitioning-defective protein 6(Par6)as the most potent RNAi ***-and stage-expression analysis of Par6 suggested this gene is highly expressed in the embryo and adult stage of *** next generated transgenic rape plants expressing ds Par6 by Agrobacteriummediated transformation and obtained nine independent transgenic *** to wild-type control plants,transgenic rape lines expressing ds Par6 showed strong resistance to *** assays revealed that feeding transgenic rape plants to *** significantly decreased MpPar6 expression and survival rate and impaired ***,we showed that the resistance levels to *** are positively correlated with ds Par6 expression levels in transgenic rape *** study demonstrates that transgenic rape plants expressing ds Par6 are efficiently protected from *** with the genes involved in embryo development could be the effective RNAi targets for controlling aphids and potentially other insect pests.

Structural parameter optimization of a furrow opener based on EDEM software

To reduce the ditching resistance of a furrow opener during operation,single-factor and multiple-factor combinations were used to explore the influence of the furrow opener’s advance speed,blade opening angle,and width on the ditching resistance based on the discrete element method(DEM).A DEM simulation of the furrow opener was *** changing these influencing factors,the parameters with the least resistance to operation were *** openers were fabricated according to the optimized results,and soil trench tests were carried *** and soil groove tests showed that the minimum ditching resistance was 58.54 N when the current advance speed was 4.47 m/s,the blade opening angle was 32.02°,and the furrow opener width was 51.45 *** error between the simulated value of the ditching resistance and the soil trench test was within 10%,and the trends of resistance change were essentially the same,indicating that it is feasible to optimize the structural parameters of a trench furrow opener using *** research results can provide a reference for the parameter optimization of furrow openers.

High glucose reduces Nrf2-dependent cRAGE release and enhances inflammasome-dependent IL-1βproduction in monocytes:the modulatory effects of EGCG

Soluble receptor for advanced glycation end products(sRAGE)acts as a decoy sequestering of RAGE ligands,thus preventing the activation of the ligand-RAGE axis linking human ***,the molecular mechanisms underlying sRAGE remain *** this study,THP-1 monocytes were cultured in normal glucose(NG,5.5 mmol/L)and high glucose(HG,15 mmol/L)to investigate the effects of diabetesrelevant glucose concentrations on sRAGE and interleukin-1β(IL-1β)*** modulatory effects of epigallocatechin gallate(EGCG)in response to HG challenge were also *** enhanced intracellular reactive oxygen species(ROS)generation and RAGE *** secretion of sRAGE,including esRAGE and cRAGE,was reduced under HG conditions,together with the downregulation of a disintegrin and metallopeptidase 10(ADAM10)and nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2(Nrf2)nuclear ***,the HG effects were counteracted by siRAGE and exacerbated by *** immunoprecipitation results showed that Nrf2 binding to the ADAM10 promoter and HG interfered with this *** data reinforce the notion that RAGE and Nrf2 might be sRAGE-regulating *** HG conditions,the treatment of EGCG reduced ROS generation and RAGE ***-stimulated cRAGE release was likely caused by the upregulation of the Nrf2-ADAM10 *** inhibited HG-mediated NLRP3 inflammasome activation at least partly by stimulating sRAGE,thereby reducing IL-1βrelease.

Hydrogen acquisition from solar energy is an effective way to address energy crisis,which makes the development of efficient photocatalysts become the main direction of scientific ***,cobalt phthalocyanine/oxygen-doped g-C_(3)N_(4)(CoPc/OCN) S-scheme heterojunction photocatalyst was designed by coupling multi-step calcination with solvothermal method for enhanced photothermal-assisted photocatalytic H_(2) *** multistep calcined g-C_(3)N_(4) is easier for O-doping formation,and the ethanol solvothermal strategy is utilized to enhance the dispersion of CoPc on OCN nano sheet surface and forms sufficient S-scheme heterojunction through *** addition,the active sites and excellent photothermal properties of CoPc itself further improve the integrated photocatalytic activity of CoPc/OCN S-scheme *** optimal photocatalytic hydrogen evolution rate of CoPc/OCN S-scheme heterojunction photocatalyst reached 9.56 mmol·g^(-1)·h^(-1),which is 2.69 and 1.23 times higher than that of CN and OCN,*** work provides a valuable design idea and scheme for enhancing the multi-factor co-assisted photocatalytic H_(2) evolution performance.

Efficient electroreduction of nitrate via enriched active phases on copper-cobalt oxides

Electrochemical conversion of nitrate(NO_(3)~-) to ammonia(NH_(3)) can target two birds with one stone well, in NO_(3)^(-)-containing sewage remediation and sustainable NH_(3) production. However, single metalbased catalysts are difficult to drive high-efficient NO_(3)~- removal due to the multi-electron transfer ***, we present a tandem catalyst with simple structure, Cu-Co binary metal oxides(Cu-Co-O), by engineering intermediate phases as catalytic active species for NO_(3)~- conversion. Electrochemical evaluation,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and in situ Raman spectra together suggest that the newly-generated Cu-based phases was prone to NO_(3)~- to NO_(2)~- conversion, then NO_(2)~- was reduced to NH_(3) on Co-based species. At an applied potential of -1.1 V vs. saturated calomel electrode, the Cu-Co-O catalyst achieved NO_(3)~- -N removal of 90% and NH_(3) faradaic efficiency of 81% for 120 min in 100 m L of 50 mg/L NO_(3)~- -N,consuming only 0.69 k Wh/mol in a two-electrode system. This study provides a facile and efficient engineering strategy for developing high-performance catalysts for electrocatalytic nitrate conversion.
