NECAB family of neuronal calcium-binding proteins in health and disease

The N-terminal EF-hand calcium-binding proteins 1–3(NECAB1–3) constitute a family of predominantly neuronal proteins characterized by the presence of at least one EF-hand calcium-binding domain and a functionally less well characterized C-terminal antibiotic biosynthesis monooxygenase domain. All three family members were initially discovered due to their interactions with other proteins. NECAB1 associates with synaptotagmin-1, a critical neuronal protein involved in membrane trafficking and synaptic vesicle exocytosis. NECAB2 interacts with predominantly striatal G-protein-coupled receptors, while NECAB3 partners with amyloid-β A4 precursor protein-binding family A members 2 and 3, key regulators of amyloid-β production. This demonstrates the capacity of the family for interactions with various classes of proteins. NECAB proteins exhibit distinct subcellular localizations: NECAB1 is found in the nucleus and cytosol, NECAB2 resides in endosomes and the plasma membrane, and NECAB3 is present in the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus. The antibiotic biosynthesis monooxygenase domain, an evolutionarily ancient component, is akin to atypical heme oxygenases in prokaryotes but is not wellcharacterized in vertebrates. Prokaryotic antibiotic biosynthesis monooxygenase domains typically form dimers, suggesting that calcium-mediated conformational changes in NECAB proteins may induce antibiotic biosynthesis monooxygenase domain dimerization, potentially activating some enzymatic properties. However, the substrate for this enzymatic activity remains uncertain. Alternatively, calcium-mediated conformational changes might influence protein interactions or the subcellular localization of NECAB proteins by controlling the availability of protein–protein interaction domains situated between the EF hands and the antibiotic biosynthesis monooxygenase domain. We investigate periodic orbits and zoom-whirl behaviors around a kerr Sen black hole with a rational number q in terms of three integers(z,w,v),from which one can immediately read off the number of leaves(or zooms),the ordering of the leaves,and the number of *** characteristic of zoom-whirl periodic orbits is the precession of multi-leaf orbits in the strong-field *** feature is analogous to the counterpart in the kerr ***,we analyze the impact of the charge parameter b on the zoom-whirl periodic *** to the periodic orbits around the kerr black hole,it is found that typically lower energies are required for the same orbits in the kerr Sen black hole.

Relationship between settlements and topographical factors:An example from Sichuan Province,china

Terrain can influence the spatial distribution of settlements. Studies on the terrain characteristics of settlements can help to understand the effects of the environment on human activities. This paper provides a quantitative analysis of the relationship between settlements and topographical factors. A statistically significant sample of residential locations and ASTER GDEM V2 were used to investigate terrain traits and settlements distributions. We selected eight topographical factors and introduced a practical concept, distributive entropy, into assessing the aggregation extent of the settlements' spatial distribution. The study showed that topography varies within the study area, and distributive entropy indicates that settlements have distinctive distribution tendency in statistic approach. According to the results of this study, mountain inhabitants prefer to settle in valleys. Additionally, with distributive entropy, residential suitability was divided to three levels: suitable, normal, and unsuited. The results showed that suitable area is small in Sichuan Province, accounting for 8.2%～29.9%; however, unsuited area is large, accounting for 33%～63.3%.

A novel three-dimensional（3D） supramolecular architecture, {[Nd（OH-BDC）（OH-HBDC）（H2O）2]·2HaO）n（1）（OH-H2BDC=5-hydroxyisophthalic acid）, which was formed through hydrogen bonds and π-π stacking between two-dimensional（2D） layers, was hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Windmill building blocks, which consist of two nine-coordinated metal centers and four OH-H2BDC groups are connected through two carboxyl groups, to lead to a one-dimensional infinite inorganic chain（… M--O--C--O--M…） along the [100] direction. An observed intense blue luminescence with an emission band peaked at 390 nm for compound 1 may results from ligand-to-metal charge transfer（LMCT）. Variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility of compound 1 was investigated and the value was deviated from the Curie-Weiss law.

In northern china,thermal power units(TPUs)are important in improving the penetration level of renewable *** such areas,the potentials of coordinated dispatch of renewable energy sources(RESs)and TPUs can be better realized,if RESs and TPUs connected to the power grid at the same point of common coupling(PCC)are dispatched as a coupled ***,the definition of the coupled system is introduced,followed by an analysis on its ***,based on the operation characteristics of deep peak regulation(DPR)of TPUs in the coupled system,the constraint of the ladder-type ramping rate applicable for day-ahead dispatch is proposed,and the corresponding flexible spinning reserve constraint is further ***,considering these constraints and peak regulation ancillary services,a day-ahead optimal dispatch model of the coupled system is ***,the operational characteristics and advantages of the coupled system are analyzed in several case studies based on a real-world power grid in Liaoning province,*** numerical results show that the coupled system can further improve the economic benefits of RESs and TPUs under the existing policies.

Successful management of delirium with dexmedetomidine in a patient with haloperidol-induced neuroleptic malignant syndrome:A case report

BACkGROUND We report a case of lorazepam-induced agitated delirium treated with haloperidol,which in turn triggered the onset of neuroleptic malignant syndrome(NMS).The latter condition,a medical emergency,was effectively treated with medical treatment and dexmedetomidine,a versatile and highly selective shortacting alpha-2 adrenergic agonist with sedative-hypnotic and anxiolytic *** SUMMARY A 65-year-old man with a history of bipolar disorder presented to the emergency department with severe abdominal discomfort after binge *** his hospital stay,he received intravenous lorazepam for *** the next day,he became delirious and was thus treated with seven doses(5 mg each)of haloperidol over a 48 h *** of NMS(hyperthermia,rigidity,myoclonus of upper limbs,impaired consciousness,tachypnea,and dark urine)became apparent and haloperidol was immediately suspended and brisk diuresis was *** intensive care unit admission,he was confused,disoriented,and markedly *** infusion was started with the goal of achieving a Richmond Agitation-Sedation Scale score of-1 or *** was resolved gradually and the patient stabilized,permitting discontinuation of dexmedetomidine after 3 *** Dexmedetomidine may be clinically helpful for the management of NMS,most likely because of its sympatholytic activity.

The responses of soil microbes to global warming and nitrogen enrichment can profoundly affect terrestrial ecosystem functions and the ecosystem feedbacks to climate ***,the interactive effect of warming and nitrogen enrichment on soil microbial community is *** this study,individual and interactive effects of experimental warming and nitrogen addition on the soil microbial community were investigated in a long-term field experiment in a temperate steppe of northern *** field experiment started in 2006 and soils were sampled in 2010 and analyzed for phospholipid fatty acids to characterize the soil microbial *** soil chemical properties were also ***-year experimental warming significantly increased soil total microbial biomass and the proportion of Gram-negative bacteria in the ***-term nitrogen addition decreased soil microbial biomass at the 0-10 cm soil depth and the relative abundance of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in the *** interactive effect on soil microbes was detected when experimental warming and nitrogen addition were *** microbial biomass positively correlated with soil total C and N,but basically did not relate to the soil C/N ratio and *** results suggest that future global warming or nitrogen enrichment may significantly change the soil microbial communities in the temperate steppes in northern china.

Auroral kilometric Radiation (AkR) is a common radio emission,which can contribute to the magnetosphere-ionosphereatmosphere co u *** emissions have been observed in all magnetic planet magnetospheres of the solar *** this study,using observations from the FAST satellite from 30 August 1996 to 9 September 2001,the distribution of AkR in altitude=500-4500 km and invariant latitude (|ILAT|)=60°-80°has been analyzed.63045 AkR samples have been identified with~48%(52%) samples on the dayside (nightside).Of considerable interest,there is a distinct MLT asymmetry with the high occurrence rate in MLT=05-08 and 18-22(02-05 and 12-17) in the northern (southern) *** distinct MLT asymmetry is associated with the direction of Bxof the interplaneta ry magnetic *** addition,the occurrence rate on the nightside clearly increases as the AE^(*) index *** study further enriches the information and understanding of AkR in the magnetosphere as well as other similar radio emissions.

Otolith Shape Analysis as a Tool to Identify Two Pacific Saury(Cololabis saira) Groups from a Mixed Stock in the High-Seas Fishing Ground

The Pacific saury Cololabis saira is a commercially important pelagic species with wide distribution in the North Pacific Ocean. Previous studies identified two geographical groups by comparing the radius of otolith annual rings(ROA) of the fish collected during the pre-fishing season. Moreover, understanding the group composition in the mixed catch from the fishing ground is essential for sustainable exploitation of this species. Using samples collected during the fishing season(July–November) from 2016 to 2018, the potential of applying otolith shape analysis as a tool to identify these two mixed groups was tested in this research. Two otolith morphotypes that belong to the eastern group and western group were identified by k-means cluster analysis using Fourier coefficients and ROA. The high classification success of random forest further confirmed the effectiveness of otolith shape analysis. The western group accounted for the majority of catch in July and August at 160?E. With the passing of sampling time and fishing fleets moving westward, the proportion of eastern group gradually increased and finally reached more than 60% of the whole catch in November at 150°E. This result suggests that the eastern and western groups are well mixed during spawning migration. In addition, the temporal and spatial dynamics of their catch composition provide information for their migration route. This study is helpful for improving fisheries management and understanding the short-term stock fluctuation of Pacific saury.

Protein succinylation is a biochemical reaction in which a succinyl group(-CO-CH2-CH2-CO-)is attached to the lysine residue of a protein *** succinylation plays important regulatory roles in living ***,studies in this field are limited by the difficulty in experimentally identifying the substrate site specificity of lysine *** facilitate this process,several tools have been proposed for the computational identification of succinylated lysine *** this study,we developed an approach to investigate the substrate specificity of lysine succinylated sites based on amino acid *** experimentally verified lysine succinylated sites collected from public resources,the significant differences in position-specific amino acid composition between succinylated and non-succinylated sites were represented using the Two Sample Logo *** findings enabled the adoption of an effective machine learning method,support vector machine,to train a predictive model with not only the amino acid composition,but also the composition of k-spaced amino acid *** the selection of the best model using a ten-fold crossvalidation approach,the selected model significantly outperformed existing tools based on an independent dataset manually extracted from published research ***,the selected model was used to develop a web-based tool,SuccSite,to aid the study of protein *** proteins were used as case studies on the website to demonstrate the effective prediction of succinylation *** will regularly update SuccSite by integrating more experimental *** is freely accessible at http://***/SuccSite/.
