Finer topographic data improves distribution modeling of Picea crassifolia in the northern Qilian Mountains

The Qilian Mountains, a national key ecological function zone in Western china, play a pivotal role in ecosystem services. However, the distribution of its dominant tree species, Picea crassifolia (Qinghai spruce), has decreased dramatically in the past decades due to climate change and human activity, which may have influenced its ecological functions. To restore its ecological functions, reasonable reforestation is the key measure. many previous efforts have predicted the potential distribution of Picea crassifolia, which provides guidance on regional reforestation policy. However, all of them were performed at low spatial resolution, thus ignoring the natural characteristics of the patchy distribution of Picea crassifolia. Here, we modeled the distribution of Picea crassifolia with species distribution models at high spatial resolutions. For many models, the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) is larger than 0.9, suggesting their excellent precision. The AUC of models at 30 m is higher than that of models at 90 m, and the current potential distribution of Picea crassifolia is more closely aligned with its actual distribution at 30 m, demonstrating that finer data resolution improves model performance. Besides, for models at 90 m resolution, annual precipitation (Bio12) played the paramount influence on the distribution of Picea crassifolia, while the aspect became the most important one at 30 m, indicating the crucial role of finer topographic data in modeling species with patchy distribution. The current distribution of Picea crassifolia was concentrated in the northern and central parts of the study area, and this pattern will be maintained under future scenarios, although some habitat loss in the central parts and gain in the eastern regions is expected owing to increasing temperatures and precipitation. Bioactive chemical constituents from the marine-derived fungus Cladosporium ***-5

HZSM-5 zeolites undergoing the high-temperature process for boosting the bimolecular reaction in n-heptane catalytic cracking

High-temperature treatment is key to the preparation of zeolite ***,the effects of hightemperature treatment on the property and performance of HZSM-5 zeolites were studied in this work.X-Ray diffraction,N2physisorption,27Al magic angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance(maS NMR),and temperature-programmed desorption of ammonia results indicated that the hightemperature treatment at 650℃ hardly affected the inherent crystal and texture of HZSM-5zeolites but facilitated the conversion of framework Al to extra-framework Al,reducing the acid site and enhancing the acid ***,the high-temperature treatment improved the performance of HZSM-5 zeolites in n-heptane catalytic cracking,promoting the conversion and light olefins yield while inhibiting coke *** on the kinetic and mechanism analysis,the improvement of HZSM-5 performance caused by high-temperature treatment has been attributed to the formation of extra-framework Al,which enhanced the acid strength,facilitated the bimolecular reaction,and promoted the entropy change to overcome a higher energy barrier in n-heptane catalytic cracking.

Understanding the foraging behavior is essential for investigating seabird ecology and conservation,as well as monitoring the well-being of the marine *** seabirds adopt diverse foraging strategies to maximize energy gains and cope with the intensified challenges of parenting and *** tradeoff may stem from the heterogeneity of food resources and the constraints of central place ***,abundant marine productivity could alleviate the energy limitation for seabirds,resulting in a consistent foraging ***,we investigated the foraging strategy during the breeding season of a cryptic small-sized seabird,Swinhoe’s Storm-petrel(Hydrobates monorhis),in the Yellow Sea,a productive marginal sea of the Northwest *** GPS tracking,we evaluated habitat preference,quantified the foraging strategy,and tested if environmental conditions and individual traits influence foraging *** found that Swinhoe’s Storm-petrels preferred nearshore areas with shallow water and engaged in primarily short foraging *** southeastward and southwestward strategies emerged when combining trip metrics,including foraging direction,duration,and maximum *** bathymetry,proximity to the coastline,and sea surface temperature differed in two foraging *** strategies exhibited flexibility between individuals,potentially explained by wing morphology,in which longer-winged birds are more likely to embark on longer-distance foraging *** findings highlight the impact of environmental factors and individual traits on seabirds’foraging decisions in productive marginal sea *** study also provides valuable insights into the foraging ecology of this Asian endemic storm-petrel.

A versatile sensing platform employing inorganic MoS_(2) nanoflowers and organic poly(3,4-ethylene dioxythiophene):poly(styrene sulfonate)(PEDOT:PSS)has been investigated to develop the resistive and capacitive force-sensitive *** microstructure of the sensing layer heightens the sensitivity and response time of the dual-mode pressure sensors by augmenting electron pathways and inner stress in response to mechanical ***,the capacitive and resistive sensors exhibit sensitivities of 0.37 and 0.12 kPa^(-1),respectively,while demonstrating a remarkable response time of approximately 100 ***,it is noteworthy that the PEDOT:PSS layer exhibits excellent adhesion to polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS)substrates,which contributes to the development of highly robust force-sensitive sensors capable of enduring more than 10000loading/unloading *** combination of MoS_(2)/PEDOT:PSS layers in these dual-mode sensors has shown promising results in detecting human joint movements and subtle physiological ***,the sensors have achieved a remarkable precision rate of 98%in identifying target *** outcomes underscore the significant potential of these sensors for integration into applications such as electronic skin and human-machine interaction.

Spatial and temporal changes of glaciers and glacial lakes in the Northern Tianshan Mountains over the past 30 years

Glaciers and glacial lakes are very sensitive to climate change,and studying their dynamics is important for revealing changes in global *** this study,we extracted the boundaries of glaciers and glacial lakes in the Northern Tianshan Mountains based on Landsat TM/ETM+/OLI and Sentinel 2A/2B MSI remote sensing images and analyzed their dynamics and impacts over the past 30 *** findings indicate that in 2020,the Northern Tianshan region exhibited a total of 3254 glaciers,with an area of 1670.55 km^(2) and a volume of 95.69 km^(3).The corresponding numbers,areas,and volumes of glacial lakes were 281,13.23 km^(2) and 210.49×10~6 m^(3),*** the past 30 years,glaciers and glacial lakes have exhibited opposite *** former decreased by 16,332.64 km^(2)(-0.60%·a^(–1)) and 18.36 km^(3)(-0.58%·a^(–1)),respectively,and the latter increased by 56 and2.48 km^(2)(0.82%·a^(–1)) and 38.88×10~6 m^(3)(0.79%·a^(–1)),***,different glacier termination types cause differences in the glacier retreat ***-terminated glaciers retreated faster than land-terminated glaciers,and the type of glacier termination has a greater effect on the retreat rate than the size of the glacial area.
