Evidence available on the independent and combined associations of sleep duration,bedtime,and genetic predisposition with hearing loss was lacking.The present study included 15,827 participants from the Dongfeng–Tongji cohort study.Genetic risk was characterized by polygenic risk score(PRS)based on 37 genetic loci related to hearing loss.We conducted multivariate logistic regression models to assess the odds ratio(OR)for hearing loss with sleep duration and bedtime,as well as the joint association and interaction with PRS.Results showed that hearing loss was independently associated with sleeping≥9 h/night compared to the recommended 7 to9:00 p.***.to 10:00 p.***.compared to those with bedtime>10:00 p.***.to 11:00 p.m.,with estimated ORs of 1.25,1.27,and 1.16,respectively.

The detrimental“shuttle effect”of lithium polysulfides(LiPSs)together with sluggish multi-order reaction kinetics are the main drawbacks hindering lithium-sulfur(Li-S)batteries from commercial success.Here,we first propose the implementability of layered rare-earth hydroxides(LREHs)in Li-S batteries to optimize electrochemical performance.In this work,a two-dimensional(2D)rare-earth-based composite constructed by the layered gadolinium hydroxy chloride[Gd_(2)(OH)_(5)(H_(2)O)_(n)]Cl nanoplates(LGdH NPs)and graphene oxide(GO)was designed as a sulfur immobilizer for Li-S batteries.Combining the experimental results and density functional theory(DFT)calculations,it is revealed that the LGdH@GO composite not only provides a strong anchoring of the intermediates during cycling,but also acts as an effective catalyst to accelerate the liquid-solid conversion of polysulfides.The Li-S batteries assembled by LGdH@GO modified separators delivered a superior rate performance with a specific capacity of 605.34 mAh/g at 5 C,as well as excellent cycle stability with a decay rate of 0.087%over 500 cycles at 2 C.This study provided a deep understanding of the mechanism to suppress the“shuttle effect”by the LREHs,and a guide to design effective functional interlayers for high-performance Li-S batteries with excellent electrocatalytic activity.

Multimode fibers(MMFs)are a promising solution for high-throughput signal transmission in the time domain.However,crosstalk among different optical modes within the MMF scrambles input information and creates seemingly random speckle patterns at the output.To characterize this process,a transmission matrix(TM)can be used to relate input and output fields.Recent innovations use TMs to manipulate the output field by shaping the input wavefront for exciting advances in deep-brain imaging,neuron stimulation,quantum networks,and analog operators.However,these approaches consider input/output segments as independent,limiting their use for separate signal processing,such as logic operations.Our proposed method,which makes input/output segments as interdependent,adjusts the phase of corresponding output fields using phase bias maps superimposed on input segments.Coherent superposition enables signal logic operations through a 15-m-long MMF.In experiments,a single optical logic gate containing three basic logic functions and cascading multiple logic gates to handle binary operands is demonstrated.Bitwise operations are performed for multi-bit logic operations,and multiple optical logic gates are reconstructed simultaneously in a single logic gate with polarization multiplexing.The proposed method may open new avenues for long-range logic signal processing and transmission via MMFs.

We aim to evaluate prostate health index as an additional risk-stratification tool in patients with Prostate Imaging Reporting and Data System score 3 lesions on multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging.Men with biochemical or clinical suspicion of having prostate cancer who underwent multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging in two tertiary centers(Queen Mary Hospital and Princess Margaret Hospital,Hong kong,china)between January 2017 and June 2022 were included.Ultrasound-magnetic resonance imaging fusion biopsies were performed after prostate health index testing.Those who only had Prostate Imaging Reporting and Data System score 3 lesions were further stratified into four prostate health index risk groups and the cancer detection rates were analyzed.Out of the 747 patients,47.3%had Prostate Imaging Reporting and Data System score 3 lesions only.The detection rate of clinically significant prostate cancer in this group was 15.0%.The cancer detection rates of clinically significant prostate cancer had statistically significant differences:5.3%in prostate health index<25.0,7.4%in prostate health index 25.0-34.9,17.9%in prostate health index 35.0-54.9,and 52.6%in prostate health index≥55.0(P<0.01).Among the patients,26.9%could have avoided a biopsy with a prostate health index<25.0,at the expense of a 5.3%risk of missing clinically significant prostate cancer.Prostate health index could be used as an additional risk stratification tool for patients with Prostate Imaging Reporting and Data System score 3 lesions.Biopsies could be avoided in patients with low prostate health index,with a small risk of missing clinically significant prostate cancer.

Chrysopidae are a family of Neuroptera of significant importance in biocontrol against agricultural pests because of their predatory larvae.Currently,the taxonomy of Chrysopidae lacks a comprehensive revision,which impedes the exploration of species diversity as well as the selection and the conservation of green lacewings as biocontrol agents.We have established a DNA barcode reference library of the chinese green lacewings based on an approximately complete sampling(95.63%)in 25 of the 34 provincial regions in china,comprising 1119 barcodes of 25 genera and 197 species(representing 85%genera and 43.62%species from china).Combining other 1049 high quality green lacewing DNA barcodes,we first inferred the optimal threshold of interspecific genetic divergence(1.87%)for successful species identification in multiple simulated scenarios based on present data.We further inferred the threshold of genetic divergence(7.77%)among genera with biocontrol significance.The inference and performance of the threshold appears to be mainly associated with the completeness of sampling,the proportion of closely related species,and the analytical approaches.Six new combinations,Apertochrysa platypa(Yang&Yang,1991)comb.nov.,Apertochrysa shennongana(Yang&Wang,1990)comb.nov.,Apertochrysa pictifacialis(Yang,1988)comb.nov.,Apertochrysa helana(Yang,1993)comb.nov.,Plesiochrysa rosulata(Yang&Yang,2002)comb.nov.,and Signochrysa hainana(Yang&Yang,1991),are proposed according to integrative species delimitation.Our library and optimal threshold will effectively facilitate the exploration of species diversity of green lacewings.Our study also provides a methodological reference in molecular delimitation of other insects.

Pheochromocytomas and paragangliomas(PPGLs)cause symptoms by altering the circulation levels of catecholamines and peptide hormones.Currently,the diagnosis of PPGLs relies on diagnostic imaging and the detection of catecholamines.In this study,we used ultra-performance liquid chromatography(UPLC)/quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry(Q-TOF MS)analysis to identify and measure the perioperative differential metabolites in the plasma of adrenal pheochromocytoma patients.We identified differentially expressed genes by comparing the transcriptomic data of pheochromocytoma with the normal adrenal medulla.Through conducting two steps of metabolomics analysis,we identified 111 differential metabolites between the healthy group and the patient group,among which 53 metabolites were validated.By integrating the information of differential metabolites and differentially expressed genes,we inferred that the cysteine-methionine,pyrimidine,and tyrosine metabolism pathways were the three main metabolic pathways altered by the neoplasm.The analysis of transcription levels revealed that the tyrosine and cysteine-methionine metabolism pathways were downregulated in pheochromocytoma,whereas the pyrimidine pathway showed no significant difference.Finally,we developed an optimized diagnostic model of two metabolites,L-dihydroorotic acid and vanylglycol.Our results for these metabolites suggest that they may serve as potential clinical biomarkers and can be used to supplement and improve the diagnosis of pheochromocytoma.

This paper proposes a novel Multivariate Quotient-Difference(MQD)method to obtain the approximate analytical solution for AC power flow equations.Therefore,in the online environment,the power flow solutions covering different operating conditions can be directly obtained by plugging values into multiple symbolic variables,such that the power injections and consumptions of selected buses or areas can be independently adjusted.This method first derives a power flow solution through a Multivariate Power Series(MPS).Next,the MQD method is applied to transform the obtained MPS to a Multivariate Pad´e Approximants(MPA)to expand the Radius of Convergence(ROC),so that the accuracy of the derived analytical solution can be significantly increased.In addition,the hypersurface of the voltage stability boundary can be identified by an analytical formula obtained from the coefficients of MPA.This direct method for power flow solutions and voltage stability boundaries is fast for many online applications,since such analytical solutions can be derived offline and evaluated online by only plugging values into the symbolic variables according to the actual operating conditions.The proposed method is validated in detail on New England 39-bus and IEEE 118-bus systems with independent load variations in multi-regions.

The two-dimensional Logistic memristive hyperchaotic map(2D-LMHM)and the secure hash SHA-512 are the foundations of the unique remote sensing image encryption algorithm(RS-IEA)suggested in this research.The proposed map is formed from the improved Logistic map and the memristor,which has wide phase space and hyperchaotic range and is exceptionally excellent to be utilized in specific applications.The proposed image algorithm uses the permutation-assignment-diffusion structure.Permutation generates two position matrices in a progressive manner to achieve an efficient random exchange of pixel positions,assignment is carried through on the image pixels of the permutated image to entirely remove the original image information,strengthening the relationship between permutation and diffusion,and loop diffusion in two different directions can use subtle changes of pixels to affect the whole plane.The random key and plain-image SHA-512 hash values are used to produce an additional key,which is then utilized to figure out the permutation parameters and the initial value of a chaotic map.The experimental results with the average NPCR=99.6094%(NPCR:number of pixels change rate),average UACI=33.4638%(UACI:unified average changing intensity),100%pass rate of the targets in the test set,the average correlation coefficient is 0.00075,and the local information entropy is 7.9025,which shows that the algorithm is able to defend against a variety of illegal attacks and provide more trustworthy protection than some of the existing state-of-the-art algorithms.
