Assess.ng cutter-rock interaction during TBM tunnelling in granite:Large-scale standing rotary cutting tests and 3D DEM simulations

The widespread utilisation of tunnel boring machines(TBMs)in underground construction engineering requires a detailed investigation of the cutter-rock *** this paper,we conduct a series of largescale standing rotary cutting tests on granite in conjunction with high-fidelity numerical simulations based on a particle-type discrete element method(DEM)to explore the effects of key cutting parameters on the TBM cutter performance and the distribution of cutter-rock contact *** assessment results of cutter performance obtained from the cutting tests and numerical simulations reveal similar dependencies on the key cutting *** specifically,the normal and rolling forces exhibit a positive correlation with penetration but are slightly influenced by the cutting *** contrast,the side force decreases as the cutting radius ***,the side force shows a positive relationship with the penetration for smaller cutting radii but tends to become negative as the cutting radius *** cutter's relative effectiveness in rock breaking is significantly impacted by the penetration but shows little dependency on the cutting ***,an optimal penetration is identified,leading to a low boreability index and specific energy.A combined Hertz-Weibull function is developed to fit the cutter-rock contact stress distribution obtained in DEM simulations,whereby an improved CsM(Colorado school of Mines)model is proposed by replacing the original monotonic cutting force distribution with this combined Hertz-Weibull *** proposed model outperforms the original CsM model as demonstrated by a comparison of the estimated cutting forces with those from the tests/*** findings from this work that advance our understanding of TBM cutter performance have important implications for improving the efficiency and reliability of TBM tunnelling in granite.

Prox1 suppresses Proliferation and Drug Resistance of Retinoblastoma Cells via Targeting Notch1

Two methods for separating the magnetospheric solar wind charge exchange soft X-ray emission from the diffuse X-ray background

solar wind charge exchange(sWCX)is the process of solar wind high-valence ions exchanging charges with neutral components and generating soft ***,detecting the sWCX emission from the magnetosphere is proposed as a new technique to study the magnetosphere us.ng panoramic soft X-ray *** better prepare for the data analysis of upcoming magnetospheric soft X-ray imaging missions,this paper compares the magnetospheric sWCX emission obtained by two methods in an XMM-Newton observation,during which the solar wind changed *** two methods differ in the data used to fit the diffuse X-ray background(DXB)parameters in spectral *** method adding data from the ROsAT All-sky survey(RAss)is called the RAss *** method us.ng the quiet observation data is called the Quiet method,where quiet observations usually refer to observations made by the same satellite with the same target but under weaker solar wind *** show that the spectral compositions of magnetospheric sWCX emission obtained by the two methods are very similar,and the changes in intensity over time are highly consistent,although the intensity obtained by the RAss method is about 2.68±0.56 keV cm^(-2)s^(-1)sr^(-1)higher than that obtained by the Quiet *** the DXB intensity obtained by the RAss method is about 2.84±0.74 keV cm^(-2)s^(-1)sr^(-1)lower than that obtained by the Quiet method,and the linear correlation coefficient between the difference of sWCX and DXB obtained by the two methods in diffe rent energy band is close to-1,the diffe rences in magnetospheric sWCX can be fully attributed to the diffe rences in the fitted *** difference between the two methods is most significant when the energy is less than 0.7 keV,which is also the main energy band of sWCX *** addition,the difference between the two methods is not related to the sWCX intensity and,to some extent,to solar wind conditions,because sWCX intensity typically va ries with the

Biaxially oriented polypropylene(BOPP)is one of the most commonly used commercial capacitor films,but its upper operating temperature is below 105℃due to the sharply increased electrical conduction loss at high *** this study,growing an inorganic nanoscale coating layer onto the BOPP film's surface is proposed to suppress electrical conduction loss at high temperature,as well as increase its upper operating *** kinds of inorganic coating layers that have different energy band structure and dielectric property are grown onto the both surface of BOPP films,*** effect of inorganic coating layer on the high-temperature energy storage performance has been systematically *** favorable coating layer materials and appropriate thickness enable the BOPP films to have a significant improvement in high-temperature energy storage ***,when the aluminum nitride(AIN)acts as a coating layer,the AIN-BOPP-AIN sandwich-structured films possess a discharged energy density of 1.5 J cm^(-3)with an efficiency of 90%at 125℃,accompanying an outstandingly cyclic *** the discharged energy density and operation temperature are significantly enhanced,indicating that this efficient and facile method provides an important reference to improve the high-temperature energy storage performance of polymer-based dielectric films.

The baffle effectively slowed down debris flow velocity,reduced its kinetic energy,and significantly shortened the distance of debris flow ***,they are widely used for protection against natural hazards such as landslides and *** study,based on the threedimensional DEM(Discrete Element Method),investigated the impact of different baffle positions on debris flow *** flow velocity and kinetic energy variations were studied through s.ngle-factor *** baffle positions were preliminarily selected by analyzing the influence of the first-row baffle position on the impact force and accumulation mass of debris ***,based on the selected baffle positions and four factors influencing the effectiveness of baffle protection(baffle position(P),baffle height(h),row spacing(s_(r)),and angle of transit area(α)),an orthogonal design was employed to further explore the optimal arrangement of *** research results indicate that the use of a baffle structure could effectively slow down the motion velocity of debris flows and dissipate their *** the baffle is placed in the transit area,the impact force on the first-row baffle is greater than that when the baffle is placed in the deposition ***,when the baffle is placed in the transit area,the obstruction effect on debris flow mass is also greater than that when the baffle is placed in the deposition *** orthogonal experimental range analysis,when the impact on the first row of baffles is used as the evaluation criterion,the importance of each influencing factor is ranked asα>P>s_(r)>*** the mass of debris flow behind the baffle is regarded as the evaluation criterion,the rank is changed to P>α>s_(r)>*** experimental simulation results show that the optimal baffle arrangement is:P_(5),s_(r)=16,α=35°,h=9.

The detrimental“shuttle effect”of lithium polysulfides(LiPss)together with sluggish multi-order reaction kinetics are the main drawbacks hindering lithium-sulfur(Li-s)batteries from commercial ***,we first propose the implementability of layered rare-earth hydroxides(LREHs)in Li-s batteries to optimize electrochemical *** this work,a two-dimensional(2D)rare-earth-based composite constructed by the layered gadolinium hydroxy chloride[Gd_(2)(OH)_(5)(H_(2)O)_(n)]Cl nanoplates(LGdH NPs)and graphene oxide(GO)was designed as a sulfur immobilizer for Li-s *** the experimental results and density functional theory(DFT)calculations,it is revealed that the LGdH@GO composite not only provides a strong anchoring of the intermediates during cycling,but also acts as an effective catalyst to accelerate the liquid-solid conversion of *** Li-s batteries assembled by LGdH@GO modified separators delivered a superior rate performance with a specific capacity of 605.34 mAh/g at 5 C,as well as excellent cycle stability with a decay rate of 0.087%over 500 cycles at 2 *** study provided a deep understanding of the mechanism to suppress the“shuttle effect”by the LREHs,and a guide to design effective functional interlayers for high-performance Li-s batteries with excellent electrocatalytic activity.
