We have developed a new nanofilter using a carbon nanotube-silver composite material that is capable of efficiently removing waterborne viruses and *** nanofilter was subjected to plasma surface treatment to enhance its flow rate,which was improved by approximately 62%.Nanoscale pores were obtained by fabricating a carbon nanotube network and using nanoparticle fixation technology for the removal of *** pore size of the nanofilter was approximately 38 nm and the measured flow rate ranged from 21.0 to 97.2 L/（min·m^2）under a pressure of 1–6 kgf/cm^2 when the amount of loaded carbon nanotube-silver composite was 1.0 mg/cm^*** nanofilter was tested against Polio-,Noro-,and Coxsackie viruses using a sensitive real-time polymerase chain reaction assay to detect the presence of viral particles within the *** trace of viruses was found to flow through the nanofilter with carbon nanotube-silver composite loaded above 0.8 mg/cm^***,the surface of the filter has antibacterial properties to prevent bacterial clogging due to the presence of 20-nm silver nanoparticles,which were synthesized on the carbon nanotube surface.

Inflammatory bowel disease(IBD) is a chronic, relapsing intestinal inflammatory disorder with unidentified causes. Both environmental factors and genetic aspects are believed to be crucial to the pathogenesis of IBD. The incidence and prevalence of IBD have recently been increasing throughout Asia, presumably secondary to environmental changes. This increasing trend in IBD epidemiology necessitates specific health care planning and education in Asia. To this end, we must gain a precise understanding of the distinctive clinical and therapeutic characteristics of Asian patients with IBD. The phenotypes of IBD reportedly differ considerably between Asians and Caucasians. Thus, use of the same management strategies for these different populations may not be appropriate. Moreover, investigation of the Asian-specific clinical aspects of IBD offers the possibility of identifying causative factors in the pathogenesis of IBD in this geographical area. Accordingly, this review summarizes current knowledge of the phenotypic manifestations and management practices of patients with IBD, with a special focus on a comparisonof Eastern and Western perspectives.

The Ni, Fe, Co and Cu single and multilayer nanowire arrays to make perpendicular magnetic recording media were fabricated with nanoporous anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) templates from Watt solution and additives by the DC electrodeposition. The results show that the diameters of Ni, Fe, Co and Cu single and multilayer nanowires in AAO templates are 40-80 nm and the lengths are about 30 μm with the aspect ratio of 350-750. The magnetic properties of the prepared nanowires are different under different electrodepositing conditions. The remanences (Br) of Ni/Cu/Fe multilayer nanowires are lower than those of others multilayer nanowires, and coercivity (Hc) of Ni/Cu/Fe multilayer nanowires are lower than those of others multilayer nanowires. These are compatible with the required conditions of high density magnetic media devices that should have the low coercivity to easily success magnetization and high remanence to keep magnetization after removal of magnetic field.

The aerodynamic role of the elytra during a beetle＇s flapping motion is not well-elucidated, although it is well-recognized that the evolution of elytra has been a key in the success of coleopteran insects due to their protective function. An experimental study on wing kinematics reveals that for almost concurrent flapping with the hind wings, the flapping angle of the elytra is 5 times smaller than that of the hind wings. Then, we explore the aerodynamic forces on elytra in free forward flight with and without an effect of elytron-hind wing interaction by three-dimensional numerical simulation. The numerical results show that vertical force generated by the elytra without interaction is not sufficient to support even its own weight. However, the elytron-hind wing interaction improves the vertical force on the elytra up to 80%; thus, the total vertical force could fully support its own weight. The interaction slightly increases the vertical force on the hind wind by 6% as well.

Castleman's disease(CD) is a rare lymphoproliferative disorder of unknown ***,it occurs as a localized(unicentric) disease or as a systemic(multicentric) *** Castleman's disease(UCD) presents as a solitary mass and primarily affects the mediastinal,retroperitoneal,and cervical lymph *** contrast to multicentric CD,which involves peripheral lymphadenopathy and numerous systemic symptoms,UCD is not typically associated withgeneralized *** main distinct histologic variants are recognized:hyaline-vascular type,plasma cell type,and mixed *** CD is ***,UCD exclusively in the spleen is extremely rare,with only 2 cases described in the literature to ***,we describe an asymptomatic 75-yearold man with a 5.7 cm × 4.5 cm sized heterogenous enhanced mass located in the *** underwent surgical resection for diagnosis and treatment.A pathologic examination indicated the hyaline-vascular type of *** this patient,the preoperative diagnosis was difficult to determine,and therefore,invasive procedures were required.

AIM:To investigate the electrolyte changes between 2-L polyethylene glycol with ascorbic acid 20 g(PEGAsc) and 4-L PEG ***:From August 2012 to February 2013,a total of 226 patients were enrolled at four tertiary *** patients were randomly allocated to a PEG-Asc group or a 4-L *** colonoscopy,patients completed a questionnaire to assess bowel preparation-related symptoms,satisfaction,and *** assessed the bowel preparation using the Boston Bowel Preparation Scale(BBPS).In addition,blood tests,including serum electrolytes,serum osmolarity,and urine osmolarity were evaluated both before and after the ***:A total of 226 patients were *** scores were similar and the adequate bowel preparation rate(BBPS≥6)was not different between the two groups(PEG-Asc vs 4-L PEG,73.2%vs 76.3%,P=0.760).Bowel preparation-related symptoms also were not different between the two *** taste of PEG-Asc was better(41.1%vs 16.7%,P<0.001),and the willingness to undergo repeated bowel preparation was higher in the PEG-Asc group(73.2%vs 59.3%,P=0.027)than in 4-L *** were no significant changes in serum electrolytes in either ***:In this multicenter trial,bowel preparation with PEG-Asc was better than 4-L PEG in terms of patient satisfaction,with similar degrees of bowel preparation and electrolyte changes.

International guidelines for post-cardiac arrest care recommend using multi-modal strategies to avoid the withdrawal of life-sustaining therapy(WLST)in patients with the potential for neurological recovery.[1]However,a clear methodology for multi-modal approaches has yet to be ***-specific enolase(NSE)is currently the only recommended biomarker,and the European Resuscitation Council(ERC)and the European SocietyofIntensiveCareMedicine(ESICM)have proposed a cutoff value of 60μg/L at 48 and/or 72 h after the return of spontaneous circulation(ROSC)as a multimodal prognostic tool for predicting poor neurological outcomes.
