A biosynthetic gene cluster for the bioactive fungal sesterterpenoids variecolin(1)and variecolactone(2)was identified in Aspergillus aculeatus ATCC *** production of 1 and 2 was achieved in Aspergillus oryzae by expressing the sesterterpene synthase VrcA and the cytochrome P450 ***,the replacement of VrcB with homologous P450s from other fungal terpenoid pathways yielded three new variecolin analogues(5-7).Analysis of the compounds’anticancer activity in vitro and in vivo revealed that although 5 and 1 had comparable activities,5 was associated with significantly reduced toxic side effects in cancer-bearing mice,indicating its potentially broader therapeutic *** study describes the first tests of variecolin and its analogues in animals and demonstrates the utility of synthetic biology for creating molecules with improved biological activities.

Back.round Identification of hospitalized carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae （CRE）-positive patient is important in preventing nosocomial *** objective of this study was to illustrate the implementation of proactive infection control measures in preventing nosocomial transmission of CRE in a healthcare region of over 3200 beds in Hong k.ng between October 1,2010 and December 31,*** The program included active surveillance culture in patients with history of medical tourism with hospitalization and surgical operation outside Hong k.ng within 12 months before admission,and ＂added test＂ as an opportunistic CRE screening in all fecal specimens submitted to the *** investigation and contact tracing were conducted for CRE-positive *** quantitative culture was performed on CRE-positive patients and the duration of fecal carriage of CRE was *** During the study period,a total of 6533 patients were screened for CRE,of which 76 patients were positive （10 from active surveillance culture,65 from ＂added test＂,and 1 secondary case from contact tracing of 223 patients with no nosocomial outbreak.,resulting in an overall rate of CRE fecal carriage of 1.2％.The median time of fecal carriage of CRE was 43 days （range,13-119 days）.Beta-lactam-beta-lactamase-inhibitors,cephalosporins,and fluoroquinolones were associated significantly with high fecal bacterial load when used 90 days before CRE detection,while use of cephalosporins,carbapenems,and fiuoroquinolones after CRE detection are significantly associated with longer duration of *** duration of fecal carriage of CRE also correlates significantly with the initial fecal bacterial load （Pearson correlation：0.53; P=0.02）.Conclusion Proactive infection control measures by enhanced surveillance program identify CRE-positive patients and data obtained are useful for the planning of and resource allocation for CRE control.

目的探讨豚鼠离焦性近视去透镜后近视恢复的原因.方法实验研究.健康豚鼠5只,4日龄时右眼作为实验眼戴-5.00D透镜,左眼作为对照眼.18日龄时去除透镜进行屈光度数、眼轴长度及脉络膜厚度测量,20日龄再次测量.判断近视眼造模是否成功时,采用配对样本t检验对双眼数据进行比较;去透镜后采用独立样本t检验对双眼数据进行比较.结果 18日龄时,实验眼相对对照眼产生（-2.00±1.50）D的相对近视（P=0.04）,并且产生了（0.033±0.025） mm的相对眼轴长度延长（P=0.04）.20日龄时,双眼相对近视已经恢复至（-0.72±0.86）D（P=0.13）,但相对性眼轴长度延长仍然存在（0.031±0.022） mm（P=0.04）.在相对近视恢复的早期过程中,正常对照眼的屈光与眼轴长度呈一致性变化,而近视恢复眼实验眼的屈光与眼轴长度呈反向分离性变化.结论豚鼠经透镜诱导的相对性轴性近视在去除透镜后恢复可能与脉络膜的增厚以及眼球生长速度下降有关.

AIM: To development of an improved p38 MAPk.inhibitor-based serum-free medium for embryoid body cardiomyocyte differentiation of human pluripotent stem cells. METHODS: Human embryonic stem cells (hESC) differentiated to cardiomyocytes (CM) using a p38 MAPk.inhibitor (SB203580) based serum-free medium (SB media). Nutrient supplements k.own to increase cell viability were added to SB medium. The ability of these supplements to improve cardiomyogenesis was evaluated by measurements of cell viability, total cell count, and the expression of cardiac mark.rs via flow cytometry. An improved medium containing Soy hydrolysate (HySoy) and bovine serum albumin (BSA) (SupSB media) was developed and tested on 2 additional cell lines (H1 and Siu-hiPSC). Characterization of the cardiomyocytes was done by immunohistochemistry, electrophysiology and quantitative real-time reverse transcriptionpolymerase chain reaction. RESULTS: hESC cell line, HES-3, differentiating in SB medium for 16 d resulted in a cardiomyocyte yield of 0.07 ± 0.03 CM/hESC. A new medium (SupSB media) was developed with the addition of HySoy and BSA to SB medium. This medium resulted in 2.6 fold increase in cardiomyocyte yield (0.21 ± 0.08 CM/hESC). The robustness of SupSB medium was further demonstrated using two additional pluripotent cell lines (H1, hESC and Siu1, hiPSC), showing a 15 and 9 fold increase in cardiomyocyte yield respectively. The age (passage number) of the pluripotent cells did not affect the cardiomyocyte yields. Embryoid body (EB) cardiomyocytes formed in SupSB medium expressed canonical cardiac mark.rs (sarcomeric α-actinin, myosin heavy chain and troponin-T) and demonstrated all three major phenotypes: nodal-, atrial- and ventricular-lik.. Electrophysiological characteristics (maximum diastolic potentials and action potential durations) of cardiomyocytes derived from SB and SupSB media were similar. CONCLUSION: The nutrient supplementation (HySoy and BSA) leads to increase in cell viability

Color mothball is a daily necessity in Southeast Asia. Mothball contained nearly 100% naphthalene or 100% p-dichlorobenzene. It was used to resist insects, mothproof and mildew with a special odor. In other words, the odor was thought unpleasant enough to drive animals away in repellent products. This research analyzed color mothball which was manufactured by C and N companies. The mothball was dyed with eight dyes and three essences of fragrance, respectively. The experiment of color fastness with UV-light test is to determine how much the color will fade, when it exposed to a k.own ultraviolet light source. In the last analysis, the experimental data from the spectrum of GC/MS described all k.nds of structure on color mothball after 80 hours phototherapy treatment as shown in the content. This research reveals that color mothball can have better appearance and greater performance, to meet the requirements for customs and various applications.
