To attain the volumetric information of the optic radiation in normal human brains, we per- formed diffusion tensor imaging examination in 13 healthy volunteers. Simultaneously, we used a brain normalization method to reduce individual brain variation and increase the accuracy of volumetric information analysis. In addition, tractography-based group mapping method was also used to investigate the probability and distribution of the optic radiation pathways. Our results showed that the measured optic radiation fiber tract volume was a range of about 0.16% and that the fractional anisotropy value was about 0.53. Moreover, the optic radiation probability fiber pathway that was determined with diffusion tensor tractography-based group mapping was able to detect the location relatively accurately. We believe that our methods and results are help- ful in the study of optic radiation fiber tract information.

Because Broca＇s area and Wernicke＇s area in the brain are connected by the arcuate fasciculus, understanding the anatomical location and morphometry of the arcuate fasciculus can help in the treatment of patients with aphasia. We measured the horizontal and vertical curvature ranges of the arcuate fasciculus in both hemispheres in 12 healthy subjects using diffusion tensor tractography. In the right hemisphere, the direct curvature range and indirect curvature range values of the arcuate fasciculus horizontal part were 121.13 ± 5.89 and 25.99 ± 3.01 degrees, respectively, and in the left hemisphere, the values were 121.83 ± 5.33 and 27.40 ± 2.96 degrees, respectively. In the right hemisphere, the direct curvature range and indirect curvature range values of the arcuate fasciculus vertical part were 43.97 ± 7.98 and 30.15 ± 3.82 degrees, respectively, and in the left hemisphere, the values were 39.39 ± 4.42 and 24.08 ± 4.34 degrees, respectively. We believe that the measured curvature ranges are important data for localization and quantitative assessment of specific neuronal pathways in patients presenting with arcuate fasciculus abnormalities.

Herein,we theoretically demonstrate that simple metal(Ga and Al)substitutional atoms,rather than the conventional transition metal substitutional elements,not only stabilize the ThMn_(12)-type SmFe_(12) and Sm(Fe,Co)_(12)phases thermodynamically but also further improve their intrinsic magnetic properties such that they are superior to those of the widely investigated SmFe_(11)Ti and Sm(Fe,Co)_(11)Ti magnets,and even to the state-of-the-art permanent magnet Nd_(2)Fe_(14)*** specifically,the quaternary Sm(Fe,Co,Al)_(12)phase has the highest uniaxial magnetocrystalline anisotropy(MCA)of about 8 MJ m^(−3),anisotropy field of 18.2 T,and hardness parameter of 2.8 at room temperature and a Curie temperature of 764 ***,the Al and Ga substitutional atoms improve the single-domain size of the Sm(Fe,Co)_(12)grains by nearly a factor of *** results of MCA and MCA-driven hard magnetic properties can be described by the strong spin-orbit coupling and orbital angular momentum of the Sm 4f-electron orbitals.

A Power-Aware Branch Predictor by Accessing the BTB Selectively

Microarchitects should consider power consumption, together with accuracy, when designing a branch predictor, especially in embedded processors. This paper proposes a power-aware branch predictor, which is based on the gshare predictor, by accessing the BTB （Branch Target Buffer） selectively. To enable the selective access to the BTB, the PHT （Pattern History Table） in the proposed branch predictor is accessed one cycle earlier than the traditional PHT if the program is executed sequentially without branch instructions. As a side effect, two predictions from the PHT are obtained through one access to the PHT, resulting in more power savings. In the proposed branch predictor, if the previous instruction was not a branch and the prediction from the PHT is untaken, the BTB is not accessed to reduce power consumption. If the previous instruction was a branch, the BTB is always accessed, regardless of the prediction from the PHT, to prevent the additional delay/accuracy decrease. The proposed branch predictor reduces the power consumption with little hardware overhead, not incurring additional delay and never harming prediction accuracy. The simulation results show that the proposed branch predictor reduces the power consumption by 29-47%.

This review focuses on layer by layer （LBL） assembly-based nano ecological sensor （hereafter, eco-sensor） for pesticide detection, which is one of the most versatile methods. The effects of pesticides on human health and on the environment （air, water, soil, plants, and animals） are of great concern due to their increasing use. We highlight two of the most popular detecting methods, i.e., fluorescence and electrochemical detection of pesticides on an LBL assembly. Fluorescence materials are of great interest among researchers for their sensitivity and reliable detection, and electrochemical processes allow us to investigate synergistic interactions among film components through charge transfer mechanisms in LBL film at the molecular level. Then, we noted some prospective directions for development of different types of sensing systems.

Expression of E-cadherin and α-catenin in a varicocele-induced infertility rat model

The roles of E-cadherin and α-catenin were evaluated in the development of varicocele-induced infertility. Analysis of the association between the expression of E-cadherinla-catenin and clinical/pathological parameters was performed. Thirty lO-week-old male rats （experimental group） were used for the experiments; the left renal vein was ligated to form a varicocele. The abdomen was incised in 30 rats （control group） and no procedure was performed on 10 rats （baseline group）. The weights of the left testis, serum reactive oxygen species （ROS）, testosterone, luteinizing hormone （LH）, follicle-stimulating hormone （FSH） and degenerative changes in the seminiferous tubules after 4 and 8 weeks were recorded. The expression of E-cadherin and α-catenin was evaluated by immunohistochemical （IHC） staining and Western blot analysis. The ROS increased in the 8-week experimental group, compared with the baseline and control groups （P〈0.001 for both）. Additionally, FSH significantly increased in the 4- and 8-week experimental group compared with the control groups （P= 0.013 and P= 0.032, respectively）. The ratio of degenerative changes in the seminiferous tubules of the experimental groups increased. The IHC staining showed that the expression of E-cadherin and a-catenin decreased in the 4- and 8-week experimental groups. Similar to the IHC staining, the experimental group had decreased reactivity on Western blot analysis. The expression of E-cadherin and a-catenin was significantly associated with the ROS and degenerative changes in the seminiferous tubules. The results of this study suggest that damage to the blood-testis barrier （BTB） is associated with varicocele-induced male infertility, and that ROS may cause damage to the BTB.

Environmental impact and economic concerns have driven a variable rate technology(VRT).Spinner spreaders were mainly used for granular fertilizer application since they are simple in design,inexpensive,and can cover large ***,the spreader was not adequate for VRT because uniformity changes drastically while varying application ***,the purpose of this study was to develop a variable rate applicator with uniform spreading patterns.A commercial spreader was modified with a controller and electric actuators for controlling fertilizer discharge directions and *** was established to determine the optimum discharge direction according to the fertilizer application *** uniformity of spreading patterns in accordance with the spread amount per set unit area was evaluated by the statistical coefficient of variation(CV)lower than 15%is assumed to prevent damage to the *** results showed that CVs were 8%,9%,and 8%,respectively,for a tractor in race track mode(adjacent passes in same direction of travel)at 200 kg/hm^(2),300 kg/hm^(2),and 400 kg/hm^(2).This indicates that the fertilizer was spread uniformly,while the coefficient of variation was 12%at 200 kg/hm^(2) in back and forth mode(adjacent passes in the opposite direction of travel).Overall,the results suggest that the race track mode is suitable for operation of a tractor to ensure uniform spreading of fertilizer when applying at variable *** future goal is to establish a system for automatic variable rate application according to location in connection with soil analysis and geographic information systems.

＜正＞The purpose of this study is to create a useful landscape architecture guideline for futurestadiums by analyzing the design concept and the pre-existing condition of landscape architecturearound the Ulsan World Cup Stadium. The analysis of the design concept and the pre-existingcondition had being processed with the construction report, drawings, pictures, and data from the site. As a result, the Ulsan World Cup Stadium for the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup brought abouttopographical change necessitated by extensive site preparation for securing architectural *** treatment of the slope, importation of country vegetation, and large scaletransplantation created an image that appeared natural. Most noticeably, Oak-dong Reservoir, waschanged to suggest a natural waterscape. This is a good example of utilizing the existing potentialwhen altering landscape. Additionally, because this stadium has a park as a leisure space for citizen and athletic facilities, it isone of the most versatile athletic parks in the world capable of accommodating sports, cultural events,and educational events. One of the most important things is that this stadium imported historic-culturalelements to design language and it is significant that the sense of place was highlighted by the design. Ulsan World Cup Stadium has been opened to the public after the World Cup and it is noticeable thatthis stadium has multi-functions for the citizens as a public park as well as sports utility. This kind ofconstruction concept is a contemporary space use that has to be imported as a concept which canextend time from space use. This study, recognizes the maintenance and management of public parks, even stadiums, isnecessary for public spaces. Furthermore, an attempt should be made to recreate a naturalenvironment when addressing environmental damage caused by construction.

Thick electrodes can substantially enhance the overall energy density of ***,insufficient wettability of aqueous electrolytes toward electrodes with conventional hydrophobic binders severely limits utilization of active materials with increasing the thickness of electrodes for aqueous batteries,resulting in battery performance deterioration with a reduced ***,we demonstrate that controlling the hydrophilicity of the thicker electrodes is critical to enhancing the overall energy density of *** binders are synthesized via a simple sulfonation process of conventional polyvinylidene fluoride binders,considering physicochemical properties such as mechanical properties and *** introduction of abundant sulfonate groups of binders(i)allows fast and sufficient electrolyte wetting,and(ii)improves ionic conduction in thick electrodes,enabling a significant increase in reversible capacities under various current ***,the sulfonated binder effectively inhibits the dissolution of cathode materials in reactive aqueous ***,our findings significantly enhance the energy density and contribute to the development of practical zinc-ion batteries.

The single-pot production of Pd@Pt core-shell structures is a promising approach as it offers large surface area,catalytic capability,and *** this work,we established a single-pot process to produce Pd@Pt core-shell nanodendrites with tunable composition,shape and size for optimal electrochemical ***@Pt nanodendrites with diverse compositions were synthesized by tuning the ratios of Pd and Pt sources in an aqueous environment using cetyltrimethylammonium chloride,which functioned as both the surfactant and the reducing agent at an elevated temperature(90°C).The synthesized Pd5@Pt5 nanodendrites showed exceptional electrochemical action toward the methanol oxidation reaction related with another compositional Pd@Pt nanodendrites and conventional Pt/C *** addition,Pd5@Pt5 nanodendrites exhibited good CO tolerance owing to their surface features and the synergistic effect among Pt and ***,nanodendrites with a Pt-rich surface provided exceptional catalytic active *** with the conventional Pt/C electrocatalyst,the anodic peak current obtained by Pd5@Pt5 nanodendrites was 3.74 and 2.18 times higher in relations of mass and electrochemical active surface area-normalized current density,*** approach offers an attractive strategy to design electrocatalysts with unique structures and outstanding catalytic performance and stability for electrochemical energy conversion.
