An improved susceptible-infected-susceptible(SIS)model in the local-world evolving network model is presented to study the epidemic spreading behavior with time delay,which is added into the infected phase.The local-world evolving model displays a transition from the exponential network to the scale-free network with respect to the degree distribution.Two typical delay regimes,i.e.,uniform and degree-dependent delays are incorporated into the SIS epidemic model to investigate the epidemic infection processes in the local-world net-work model.The results indicate that the infection delay will promote the epidemic outbreaks,increase the prevalence and reduce the critical threshold of epidemic spreading.It is also found that local-world size M will considerably influence the epidemic spreading behavior with time delay in the local-world network through large-scale numerical simulations.Simulation results are also of relevance to fight epidemic outbreaks.

In this paper, we propose a two-layered multiplex network model to characterize the coupling between the infectious disease spreading and disease-related information or awareness diffusion, in which one layer is used to denote the contact network for the disease spreading and the other one represents the propagation of information about the infectious diseases. Meanwhile, the topology between two-layered networks is distinct although each node can appear simultaneously on two networks or the mapping mode between network nodes is one-to-one. Through the microscopic Markov chain approach（MMCA）, we build the probability transition tree among 6 possible states and the corresponding dynamical equations. After that, we analytically derive the epidemic threshold by the MMCA method, which has been correlated with the network topology, the information diffusion mechanism and the coupling properties between two kinds of spreading dynamics. Finally, we perform extensive numerical simulations to demonstrate the analytical predictions, and in particular we find that self perception can greatly reduce the disease outbreaks. Current results are helpful to deeply understand the spreading behaviors among the real-world population.

Attack vulnerability and protection of large-scale complex networks are of great significance in academic and engineering communities.In this study,the problem of structural vulnerability of complex networks induced by attacks on edges is addressed.In order to restore network’s performance after attacks,a simple two-stage attack-recovery model based on activating backup edges is presented.Moreover,with the consideration of two different edge attack strategies,the joint influence of repair cost（i.***.the extent of edge redundancy） and repair targets are extensively investigated.Numerical simulations are implemented on artificially generated random networks and real-world networks,which demonstrate the effectiveness of proposed repair model.The research results can provide some useful suggestion on constructing robust infrastructure systems,also help to better understand the structural complexity of large-scale networks.

In this paper, we probe into the influence of network structure on the convergence rate of agents in multi-agent systems, especially for the position and number of nodes of network on it. We discover some results of which kinds of networks are conductive to the faster convergence rate of agents in multi-agent systems. Firstly, if there is no ring in different networks where the number of nodes are same, then the network with fork nodes which are connected to the central position node is in favor of the faster convergence of agents;otherwise, the convergence rate of agents is quicker in the network without fork nodes.Secondly, it is inevitable for agents to converge more ane more slowly with the increasing of node number. One way to improve the convergence rate of agents is to enable the increased nodes to connect to the central position node. Finally, when both the position and the number of nodes of different networks are same, it can save communication cost to remove some edges in network under the condition that the convergence rate of agents is affected little. Therefore, we reveal that if the edges which do not connect to the central position directly are removed, then their impact on the convergence rate is little.

Networked finite state machine takes the delay factor into consideration, and its security has become an significant research topic. In this paper, we explore the impact of bounded communication delays on networked opacity of finite state machine from an algebraic point. Firstly, by making use of Boolean semi-tensor product（Boolean STP）, we propose an algebraic equation to characterize the current dynamics with bounded observation delays. Subsequently, we give the verification criterion for networked opacity, and calculate the delayed dynamics by introducing the state reachability matrix. Meanwhile, we investigate the effect of bound number on the opacity-enforcement problem, and compute the minimum bound of communication delay to ensure the state opacity property. Finally, a numerical example is provided to demonstrate the results.

We studied the evolution of cooperation in the prisoner's dilemma game on a square lattice where the size of the interaction neighborhood is considered. Firstly, the effects of noise and the cost-to-benefit ratio on the maintenance of cooperation were investigated. The results indicate that the cooperation frequency depends on the noise and cost-to-benefit ratio: cooperation reaches a climax as noise increases, but it monotonously decreases and even vanishes with the ratio increasing. Furthermore, we investigated how the size of the interaction neighborhood affects the emergence of cooperation in detail. Our study demonstrates that cooperation is remarkably enhanced by an increase in the size of the interaction neighborhood. However, cooperation died out when the size of the interaction neighborhood became too large since the system was similar to the mean-field system. On this basis, a cluster-forming mechanism acting among cooperators was also explored, and it showed that the moderate range of the neighborhood size is beneficial for forming larger cooperative clusters. Finally, large-scale Monte Carlo simulations were carried out to visualize and interpret these phenomena explicitly.

Asperuloside Promotes Apoptosis of Cervical Cancer Cells through Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress-Mitochondrial Pathway

Objective: To investigate the effects of asperuloside on cervical cancer based on endoplasmic reticulum(ER) stress and mitochondrial pathway. Methods: Different doses(12.5–800 μg/mL) of asperuloside were used to treat cervical cancer cell lines Hela and CaSki to calculate the half maximal inhibitory concentration(IC_(50)) of asperuloside. The cell proliferation was analyzed by clone formation assay. Cell apoptosis, intracellular reactive oxygen species(ROS) and mitochondrial membrane potential were determined by flow cytometry. The protein expressions of cleaved-caspase-3, Bcl-2, Bax, Cyt-c, cleaved-caspase-4 and glucose-regulated protein 78(GRP78) were analyzed by Western blot. And the inhibitor of ER stress, 4-phenyl butyric acid(4-PBA) was used to treat cervical cancer cells to further verify the role of ER stress in the apoptosis of cervical cancer cells induced by asperuloside. Results: Asperuloside of 325, 650, and 1300 μg/mL significantly inhibited the proliferation and promoted apoptosis of Hela and CaSki cells(P<0.01). All doses of asperuloside significantly increased intracellular ROS levels, reduced mitochondrial membrane potential, significantly reduced Bcl-2 protein expression level, and increased Bax, Cyt-c, GRP78 and cleaved-caspase-4 expressions(P<0.01). In addition, 10 mmol/L 4-PBA treatment significantly promoted cell proliferation and reduced apoptosis(P<0.05), and 650 μg/mL asperuloside could reverse 4-PBA-induced increased cell proliferation, decreased apoptosis and cleaved-caspase-3,-4 and GRP78 protein expressions(P<0.05). Conclusion: Our study revealed the role of asperuloside in cervical cancer, suggesting that asperuloside promotes apoptosis of cervical cancer cells through ER stress-mitochondrial pathway.

Metabolomics as a research field and a set of techniques is to study the entire small molecules in biological samples.Metabolomics is emerging as a powerful tool generally for pre-cision medicine.Particularly,integration of microbiome and metabolome has revealed the mechanism and functionality of microbiome in human health and disease.However,metabo-lomics data are very complicated.Preprocessing/pretreating and normalizing procedures on metabolomics data are usually required before statistical analysis.In this review article,we comprehensively review various methods that are used to preprocess and pretreat metabolo-mics data,including MS-based data and NMR-based data preprocessing,dealing with zero and/or missing values and detecting outliers,data normalization,data centering and scaling,data transformation.We discuss the advantages and limitations of each method.The choice for a suitable preprocessing method is determined by the biological hypothesis,the characteristics of the data set,and the selected statistical data analysis method.We then provide the perspective of their applications in the microbiome and metabolome research.
