Comparison of the Prevalence and Characteristics Between EWGSOP1-and EWGSOP2-defined Sarcopenia in Patients with Colorectal Cancer

Background Sarcopenia,as diagnosed by the former EWGSOP1 guidelines,was prevalent in cancer patients.The aim of this study was to examine the diagnostic capabilities of the previous and current guidelines,and to compare the clinicopathological features between patients diagnosed using the algorithms comprising the EWGSOP1 and EWGSOP2 guidelines.Methods We conducted a study including colorectal cancer patients from July 2014 to July 2019.The skeletal muscle mass,muscle attenuation,handgrip strength,and 6-meter usual gait speed were prospectively measured to define sarcopenia once patients were hospitalized.Results Of a total of 840 patients,160(19.0%)patients were diagnosed with sarcopenia based on the EWGSOP1 and 241(28.7%)patients were diagnosed based on the EWGSOP2.The numbers of patients diagnosed with sarcopenia and severe sarcopenia were much higher when the EWGSOP2 guidelines were used(160 vs.241 and 74 vs.140,respectively).The patients with EWGSOP2-defined sarcopenia showed a lower plasma albumin concentration(37.4 vs.36.4,P=0.039)but higher BMI(21.01 vs.22.22,Pleast in patients with colorectal cancer.In addition,the patients with EWGSOP2-diagnosed sarcopenia also showed a trend toward a lower plasma albumin level and higher BMI.

The number of new cancer cases in China is increasing rapidly,and China now ranks first in the world for the number of cancer patients.Traditional oncology treatment is based on surgery,radiotherapy and chemotherapy,but all three treatments are often accompanied by a poor quality of life,impaired physical function,and significant anxiety and depression.Exercise therapy can provide both prognostic improvement and a better quality of life for cancer patients,and can be adapted to serve patients at all stages from perioperative recovery to hospice.Although the impact of exercise alone is difficult to assess given the influence of lifestyle and other factors,data suggest that consistent exercise can improve the prognosis of cancer patients.Exercise enhances cardiopulmonary function,induces protein synthesis,improves physiological performance and increases physiological reserves;it also helps to improve the metabolic and immune functions,creating an anti-cancer environment in the body.An appropriate exercise plan can reduce adverse effects associated with cancer treatment,improve patients'physiological function,reduce fatigue and improve quality of life.Of note,exercise may also reduce the risk of cancer recurrence and metastasis.In recent years,exercise oncology has received increasing attention,thus,this article reviews the progress made in the clinical application of exercise therapy in oncology patients.

The effects of alloying elements and processing parameters on the mechanical properties and Portevin-le Chatelier effect of A1-Mg alloys developed for inner auto body sheets were investigated in detail. Tensile testing was performed in various Zn and Mg contents under different annealing and cold-rolling conditions. In the results, the stress drop and reloading time of serrations increase with increasing plastic strain and exhibit a common linear relationship. The increase rates of stress drop and reloading time increase with increasing Mg or Zn content. The alloys with a greater intensity of serrated yielding generally exhibit a greater elongation. The stress drop and reloading time of serrations decrease with increasing grain size in the case of the annealed samples. The cold-rolled sample exhibits the most severe serra- tion because it initially contains a large number of grain boundaries and dislocations.

Optimal Allocation of Fault Current Limiter in MMC-HVDC Grid Based on Transient Energy Flow

Economical and reliable protection of DC-side shortcircuit faults has become a key technology for promoting the development of module multilevel converters based on the high voltage direct current grid(MMC-HVDC-Grid).The fault current limiter(FCL)can effectively suppress the rapid development of the fault current and reduce the current breaking capacity of the circuit breaker.In this paper,a method based on transient energy flow(TEF)analysis is proposed to optimize the allocation of a resistive and inductive FCL in the MMC-HVDC-Grid.In the proposed method,the electromagnetic TEF is measured first,and then,the TEF suppression rate and suppression efficiency are defined as optimization objectives,and the installation location of the FCL and its impedance parameters as optimization variables.To test the proposed method,two-terminal and four-terminal bipolar MMC-HVDC-Grids with single-pole-to-ground DC faults are modeled in the PSCAD/EMTDC so that the TEF data can be acquired.The optimal FCLs’location and parameter values are determined through investigating the evolution paradigm of TEF along with changes of the FCL position and parameters.The results prove that the selected parameters can effectively slow down the DC fault current rising rate,thus reducing the requirements on tripping current of the DC breakers.

This paper presents a developed new coupled method which combined our in-house CFD solver naoe-FOAM-SJTU and naoe-FOAM-os with a potential theory High Order Spectral method(HOS).A parametric study of nonlinear wave propagation in computational fluid dynamics(CFD)zone is considered.Mesh convergence,time step convergence,time discretization scheme and length of relaxation zone are all carried out.Those parametric studies verify the steady of this new combined method and give better choice for wave propagation.The dissipation in propagation of nonlinear regular wave can be lower than 3%in static mesh,and less than 2%in overset grid mesh.Meanwhile,a LNG FPSO is put into the viscous wave tank to study the suitable size of CFD zone.To achieve a better solution with least calculating resources and best numerical results,the length of CFD zone is discussed.These parametric studies can give reference upon employment of the potential-viscous coupled method and validation of the coupled method.

Improving bus travel time reliability can attract more commuters to use bus transit,and therefore reduces the share of cars and alleviates trafc congestion.This paper formulates a new bus travel time reliability metric that jointly considers two stochastic processes:the in-stop waiting process and in-vehicle travel time process,and the bus travel time reliability function is calculated by the convolution of independent events’probabilities.The new reliability metric is defned as the probability when bus travel time is less than a certain threshold and can be used in both conditions with and without bus transfer.Next,Automatic Vehicle Location(AVL)data of the city of Harbin is used to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed method.Results show that factors such as weather,day of the week,departure time,travel distance,and the distance from the boarding stop to the bus departure station can signifcantly afect the travel time reliability.Then,a case with low bus departure frequency is analyzed to show the impact of travelers’arrival distribution on their bus travel time reliability.Further,it is demonstrated that the travel time reliabilities of two bus transfer schemes of the same Origin–Destination(O–D)pair can have signifcantly diferent patterns.Understanding the bus travel time reliability pattern of the alternative bus routes can help passengers to choose a more reliable bus route under diferent conditions.The proposed bus travel time reliability metric is tested to be sensitive to the efect of diferent factors and can be applied in bus route recommendation,bus service evaluation,and optimization.

Microcystins(MCs) are produced by certain bloomforming cyanobacteria that can induce toxicity in various organs, including renal toxicity, reproductive toxicity, cardiotoxicity, and immunosuppressive effects. It has been a significant global environmental issue due to its harm to the aquatic environment and human health. Numerous investigators have demonstrated that MC exposure can induce a widespread epidemic of enterogastritis with symptoms similar to food poisoning in areas close to lakes. Both in vivo and in vitro studies have provided evidence of positive associations between MC exposure and gastrointestinal toxicity. The toxicity of MCs on the gastrointestinal tract is multidimensional. MCs can affect gastrointestinal barrier function and shift the structure of gut microbiota in different gut regions. Furthermore, MCs can inhibit the secretion of gastrointestinal digestive enzymes and the release of inflammatory cytokines, which affects the expression of immune-related genes in the intestine. The damage of the intestine is closely correlated to MC exposure because the intestine is the main site for the digestion and absorption of nutrients. The damage to the gastrointestinal tract due to MCs was summarized from different aspects, which can be used as a foundation for further exploration of molecular damage mechanisms.

Numerical simulations of FPSO with sloshing tanks in a random freak waves

This paper presents a potential-viscous coupled method to simulate a floating production storage and offloading(FPSO)with two liquefied natural gas(LNG)sloshing tanks in a random freak wave.The potential theory uses high-order-spectral(HOS)method.The random wave is generated by HOS for 2000 s,and a freak wave is observed around 1830 s.The FPSO LNG model was firstly verified in regular waves using HOS-computational fluid dynamics(CFD)coupled method and validated the HOS-CFD coupled method can solve the ship motion coupled with sloshing tanks accurately.The FPSO with LNG tanks are then simulated in the freak wave,showed the coupling effects when the freak wave passes.With the existence of the sloshing tanks,the amplitude of the roll motion decreases and the period of roll motion changed.Wave breaking phenomenon can be observed when the wave crest of the freak wave encounters with the ship.
