A Multi-level Disambiguation Framework for Gene Name Normalization

The flexible nomenclature of gene name results in severe semantic ambiguity, which is an obstacle for deep biomedical text mining. Gene name normalization (GN) is an effective way to resolve this problem. In this work, a multi-level disambiguation framework was proposed to solve gene name normalization problem. Aiming at different ambiguity situations during the procedure of GN, three different strategies were included in the framework. They were dictionary-based gene name detection, machine-learning-based candidate selection, and semantic-based disambiguation. Experimental results showed that the proposed method could achieve 0.746 F-measure on the BioCre-AtIvE2006 GN task test data set.

The corrosion behavior of bulk metallic glasses(BMGs)(Fe41Co7Cr15Mo14C15B6Y2)100-xCrx(x=0,4,8,12,molar fraction,%)was investigated in1mol/L HCl aqueous solution with electrochemical *** electrochemical measurements demonstrate that the passive current density of Fe-based amorphous alloy is reduced by about one order of magnitude,and meanwhile,the stability of passive film can be guaranteed by the Cr/Mo molar *** Mott–Schottky(M–S)curves show that the passive film is the densest when the molar ratio of Cr/Mo is between1.37and1.69.X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)analysis was performed to clarify chemical states of elements in the passive *** results show that the corrosion resistance of the alloy is related to the molar ratio of Cr/*** stability of passive film is determined by the synergistic action of Cr and Mo *** main component of the passive film is Cr3+*** the potential is greater than0.5V(vs SCE),Mo6+ions play an important role in keeping the stability of the passive *** appropriate molar ratio of Cr/Mo can reduce the dissolution rate of the passive film.

Response of porcine hepatocytes in primary culture to plasma from severe viral hepatitis patients

AIM： To observe the effects of plasma from patients with severe viral hepatitis （SVHP） on the growth and metabolism of porcine hepatocytes and the clinical efficiency of bioartificial liver device.METHODS： Hepatocytes were isolated from male porcines by collagenase perfusion. The synthesis of DNA and total protein, leakages of AST and LDH, changes in glutathione （GSH）, catalase and morphology of porcine hepatocytes exposed to SVHP were investigated to indicate the effect of plasma from patients with severe hepatitis on the growth, injury, detoxification, and morphology of porcine hepatocytes.RESULTS： The synthesis of DNA and protein was inhibited in the medium containing 100% SVHP compared to the controls. The leakages of LDH and AST increased in porcine hepatocytes following exposure to 100% SVHP for 5 h. The difference between 100% SVHP and 10% newborn calf serum （NCS） was significant in t-test （LDH： t = 24.552, P = 0.001; AST： t = 4.169, P = 0.014）. After exposure to SVHP for 24 h, alterations in GSH status were significant （F = 2.746, P〈0.05） between porcine hepatocytes in 100% SVHP and 10% NCS, but no alteration occurred in the culture medium after 48 h （F = 4.378, ,P〈0.05）. A similar profile was observed in catalase activity. Many round vacuoles were observed in porcine hepatocytes cultured in SVHR The membranes of these cells became indistinct and almost all the cells died on d 5.CONCLUSION： Plasma from patients with severe hepatitis inhibits the growth, injures membrane, disturbs GSH homeostasis and induces morphological changes of porcine hepatocytes, It is suggested that SVHP should be pretreated to reduce the toxin load and improve the performance of porcine hepatocytes in extracorporeal liver-support devices.

AIM:To evaluate the clinical efficacy of small-diameter acellular porcine corneal stroma(SAPS)for the treatment of peripheral corneal ulceration(PCU).METHODS:This retrospective clinical study included 18 patients(18 eyes)with PCU between April 2018 and December *** patients had PCU and underwent lamellar keratoplasty with *** indicators included preoperative and postoperative best-corrected visual acuity(BCVA)and transparency of *** infection control rate in the surgical eye-lesion area was also ***:Eighteen patients underwent lamellar keratoplasty with SAPS to treat *** of the patients experienced rejection after 6mo(18/18)and 12mo(16/16)of *** BCVA(0.47±0.30)at the 6mo followup after operation was significantly improved compared with the baseline(0.99±0.80),and the difference was statistically significant(Z=-3.415,P<0.05).The BCVA at the 12mo follow-up after operation was not statistically significant compared to the 6mo(Z=0,P=1).With time,the SAPS graft gradually became *** the 6mo(18/18)and 12mo(16/16)follow-up,none of the patients had recurrent corneal ***:SAPS is clinically effective in the treatment of PCU,improving the patient’s BCVA and reducing the incidence of rejection after keratoplasty.

In winter,rivers in cold regions often experience flood disasters resulted from ice jams or ice *** of the variation of ice jam thickness and water level during an ice jammed period are not only a practical need for ice prevention to avoid disaster and plan water resource,but also essential for the development of any mathematical model for predicting the evolution of ice *** far,some equations based on the energy equation have been proposed to describe the relationship between ice jam thickness and water ***,in the derivation of these equations,the local head loss coefficient at the ice jam head and the riverbed slope factor were ***,those reported equations cannot be used to preciously describe the flow energy equation with ice jams and accurately calculate the ice jam thickness and water *** the present study,a more comprehensive theoretical model for hydraulic calculation of ice jam thickness has been derived by considering important and essential factors including riverbed slope and local head loss coefficient at the ice jam ***,based on the data collected from laboratory experiments of ice jam accumulation,the local head loss coefficient at the ice jam head has been calculated,and the empirical equation for calculating the local head loss coefficient has been established by considering flow Froude number and the ratio of ice discharge to flow *** results of this study not only provide a new reference for calculating ice jam thickness and water level,but also present a theoretical basis for accurate CFD simulation of ice jams.

Neutron-skin thickness is a key parameter for a neutron-rich nucleus;however,it is difficult to *** the framework of the Lanzhou Quantum Molecular Dynamics(LQMD)model,a possible probe for the neutron-skin thickness(δ_(np))of neutron-rich ^(48)Ca was studied in the 140A MeV ^(48)Ca+^(9)Be projectile fragmentation reaction based on the parallel momentum distribution(p∥)of the residual fragments.A Fermi-type density distribution was employed to initiate the neutron density distributions in the LQMD simulations.A combined Gaussian function with different width parameters for the left side(Γ_(L))and the right side(Γ_(R))in the distribution was used to describe the p∥of the residual *** neutron-rich sulfur isotopes as examples,Γ_(L) shows a sensitive correlation withδ_(np) of ^(48)Ca,and is proposed as a probe for determining the neutron skin thickness of the projectile nucleus.
