Effect of boundary conditions on shakedown analysis of heterogeneous materials

The determination of the ultimate load-bearing capacity of structures made of elastoplastic heterogeneous materials under varying loads is of great importance for engineering analysis and design. Therefore, it is necessary to accurately predict the shakedown domains of these materials. The static shakedown theorem, also known as Melan's theorem, is a fundamental method used to predict the shakedown domains of structures and materials. Within this method, a key aspect lies in the construction and application of an appropriate self-equilibrium stress field(SSF). In the structural shakedown analysis, the SSF is typically constructed by governing equations that satisfy no external force(NEF) boundary conditions. However, we discover that directly applying these governing equations is not suitable for the shakedown analysis of heterogeneous materials. Researchers must consider the requirements imposed by the Hill-Mandel condition for boundary conditions and the physical significance of representative volume elements(RVEs). This paper addresses this issue and demonstrates that the sizes of SSFs vary under different boundary conditions, such as uniform displacement boundary conditions(DBCs), uniform traction boundary conditions(TBCs), and periodic boundary conditions(PBCs). As a result, significant discrepancies arise in the predicted shakedown domain sizes of heterogeneous materials. Built on the demonstrated relationship between SSFs under different boundary conditions, this study explores the conservative relationships among different shakedown domains, and provides proof of the relationship between the elastic limit(EL) factors and the shakedown loading factors under the loading domain of two load vertices. By utilizing numerical examples, we highlight the conservatism present in certain results reported in the existing literature. In order to study the blast damage effects of aviation kerosene storage tanks,the out-field explosion experiments of 8 m3fixed-roof tanks were carried *** fragments,shock wave and fireball thermal radiation of the tank in the presence of bottom oil,half oil and full oil,as well as empty tank,were investigated under internal explosion by various TNT charge contents(1.8 kg,3.5 kg and 6.2 kg).The results showed that the tank roof was the only fragment produced,and the damage forms could be divided into three *** increase of TNT charge content and oil volume enlarged the deformation of the tank,while the hole ratio presented a trend of increase first and then *** H_r,maxand V_(max)values positively increased as increasing the TNT charge content and oil volume(from empty to half oil),but decreased in full *** Pmaxvalues had a progressive increase with the increment of TNT charge content,but not the case with the increase in oil *** development of fireball was divided into three stages:tank roof‘towed'flame,jet flow flame tumbling and rising,and jet flow flame *** Dmaxand Hf,maxvalues both increased as increasing TNT charge content and oil *** oscillation phenomenon of fireball temperature was observed in the cooling *** average temperature of fireball surface was positively correlated with TNT charge content,and negatively correlated with oil volumes.

Achieving an efficient and stable heterogeneous Fenton reaction over a wide pH range is of great significance for wastewater ***,a pollen-derived biochar catalyst with a unique honeycomb-like structure,coupled with the dispersion of magnetic Fe_(3)O_(4)/FeS(Fe/S)nanoparticles,was synthesized by simple impregnation precursor,followed by *** prepared Fe/S-biochar catalyst demonstrated outstanding phenol degradation efficiency across a wide pH range,with 98%of which eliminated even under neutral conditions(pH 7.0).The high catalytic activity was due to the multilevel porous structure of pollenderived biochar provided enough active sites and allowed for better electron transfer,then increases oxidation ability to promote the ***,the acid microenvironment formed by SO_(4)^(2-)group from Fe/S composite extended the pH range for Fenton reaction,and S^(2-)facilitated the conversion of≡Fe^(3+)to≡Fe^(2+),resulting in remarkable degradation ***,biochar can effectively promote cycling stability by limiting Fe *** work may provide a general strategy for designing 3D framework biochar-based Fe/S catalysts with excellent performance for heterogeneous Fenton reactions.

Effects of Additives on the Microstructure and Tribology Performance of Ta-12W Alloy Micro-Arc Oxidation Coating

Oxide ceramic coatings were fabricated on tantalum alloys by micro-arc oxidation (MAO) to improve their hardness and tribological properties. The MAO coatings were manufactured in a mixed silicatephosphate electrolyte containing NaF and/or EDTA (ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid). The surface morphology,cross-sectional view, chemical composition, hardness, and wear performance of the coatings were analysed. As revealed by the scanning electron microscopy, silica-rich nodules appear on the MAO coating obtained in the silicate-phosphate electrolyte, but the formation of nodules is inhibited with NaF and/or EDTA in the ***, they reduce the roughness and improve the compactness of the coatings, which are composed of Ta_(2)O_(5),(Ta, O), and TaO. A thick and hard coating is obtained in the NaF-containing electrolyte, and the tribology performance is effectively improved. With additives, the nodule structure is detached from the coating surface and dissolved in the electrolyte. By using NaF as an electrolyte additive, the abrasion performance of the MAO coating is enhanced by decreasing the nodule structure, increasing the size of micropores, and improving the coating hardness.

For a long time,due to lack of accurate data covering large areas,it is difficult to capture the continuous spatial evolutionary trajectory of rural settlements shaped by rapid urbanization and rural land use *** fill this gap,based on theoretical analysis this paper systemically detected the changing characteristics of scale,spatial morphology,distribution,and land use pattern of rural settlements in Southern Jiangsu in the past 20 years depending on the data of land resource survey in 2009 and *** study suggests that the total area and per capita size of rural settlements declined by 30%and 2%respectively as a result of rural land consolidation and the influx of enormous immigrants from underdeveloped *** spatial density and average shape index dropped by 14%and 44%respectively in the recent decade,indicating an evident trend of decentralization in spatial distribution,and regularization in the spatial ***,residential land within rural settlements decreased by 33%over the past decade while the land for industry and commercial service steadily increased,demonstrating that the function for manufacturing and diversified services had been *** the emerging issue of the aging population and new business opportunities in rural Southern Jiangsu,rural settlements regeneration might be the focus offutureresearch.
