Effect of movability of water on the low-velocity pre-Darcy flow in clay soil

Water seepage in soil is a fundamental problem involving various scientific and engineering *** to the literature,low-velocity water seepage in low-permeability porous media,such as clay,does not follow Darcy's law,also known as pre-Darcy *** formation of immovable water due to water adsorption on the pore wall is believed to be responsible for the formation of pre-Darcy ***,this view lacks direct solid *** investigate the pre-Darcy water flow in clay,head permeability experiments are conducted on six clay samples with different *** results indicate that water seepage in clay at low hydraulic gradients does not follow Darcy's law.A clear nonlinear relationship between flow velocity and hydraulic gradient is *** flow in clay can be divided into the pre-Darcy flow and Darcy flow regions by the critical hydraulic gradient,which is 10-12 for the Albic soil with dry density between 1.3 g/cm^(3)and 1.8 g/cm^(3).According to the disjoining pressure theory,immovable water due to water adsorption on the pore wall is the primary reason for water flow deviating from Darcy's law in *** results indicate that the percentage of movable water ranges from 39.7%to 59.3%for the six samples at a hydraulic gradient of *** the hydraulic gradient increases,the percentage of moveable water also ***,there is a strong correlation between the percentage of movable water and the variation in hydraulic conductivity with the hydraulic ***,a quantitative relationship between the percentage of movable water and the hydraulic conductivity has been *** results of this study suggest that water adsorption on the pore wall not only affects the water movability,but is also closely related to the pre-Darcy flow phenomenon in clay.

Bismuth-based anode materials have been regarded as promising Li-ion batteries due to their high theoretical ***,their low conductivity and associated volume expansion inhabited their *** this work,Bi_(2)O_(2)CO_(3)@C composites were successfully synthesized by in situ anchoring of flower-like Bi_(2)O_(2)CO_(3) nanosheets on a carbon-based substrate via *** unique composited structure of Bi_2O_(2)-CO_(3)@C leads to a stable specific capacity of 547 mAh·g^(-1)after 100 cycles at a current density of 0.1 A·g^(-1).Notably,it demonstrates excellent rate capability with a specific capacity of 210 mAh·g^(-1)at 5 A·g^(-1).After 550 cycles at a current density of 0.5 A·g^(-1),a high reversible capacity of nearly 400 mAh·g^(-1)was ***,in situ X-ray diffraction measurements clearly demonstrate the conversion between Bi and Li_(3)Bi during alloying/dealloying,confirming the good electrochemical reversibility of the materials for Li *** reaction kinetics of Bi_(2)O_(2)CO_(3)@C were further investigated using galvanostatic intermittent titration ***,Bi_2O_(2)-CO_(3)@C exhibited excellent long-term stability,maintaining its high reversible capacity for over 200 cycles at a current density of 0.5 A·g^(-1)in a full cell configuration using Li_(1.20)Mn_(0.54)Ni_(0.13)Co_(0.13)O_(2) as the cathode *** result further underscores its promising potential for lithium-ion *** work may provide inspiration for the design of alloy-type negative electrode materials for high-performance rechargeable batteries.

To investigate the design strategy of highly loaded tandem cascades at both the midspan and endwall,the overall performance and flow mechanisms of four typical tandem cascades based on the optimization were analyzed from multiple perspectives *** results show that the interference effects on the Front Blade(FB)and Rear Blade(RB)should not be overlooked during the design phase,and the design strategies at the midspan and endwall are completely *** the midspan,the optimization aims to increase the interference effects and the strength of the gap jet while maintaining the same load on the FB and ***,the endwall optimal airfoil exhibits weakening interference effects,advancement of the gap jet location,and load transfer from the FB to *** further analysis of flow characteristics,the midspan optimal airfoil is beneficial for inhibiting the low-energy fluid from interacting with the suction surface of RB under the design condition,but results in earlier occurrence of corner *** endwall optimal airfoil helps suppress the development of the secondary flow and delay the onset of corner ***,by combining the benefits of these two design approaches,additional forward sweep effects are achieved,further enhancing the performance of the tandem cascade.

Aerobic anoxygenic phototrophic bacteria(AAPB)are significant bacterial groups in aquatic ecosystems,known for their rapid growth and photoheterotrophic ***,the distribution and ecological assembly process of AAPB in low irradiation freshwater basins remain unclear,warranting further *** this study,we present the diversity,abundance,spatial variations,ecological process,and community interaction of AAPB in sediment of Three Gorges Reservoir(TGR)under low *** findings demonstrate the dominant genera of AAPB community that exist in the TGR area also are appeared in different waters,with some regional ***,the concentration of pufM gene,an indicator for AAPB,maintains a consistently high numerical level ranging from(2.21±0.44)×10^(4)to(9.98±0.30)×10^(7)gene copies/*** solar irradiation is suggested as the major factor affecting AAPB,it remains unclear whether and how AAPB differ between regions due to varying solar irradiation *** results show spatial differences between total bacteria and AAPB communities,with significant differences observed only in *** and environmental factor contributed less than 10%to the spatial difference of community,with sediment type and environmental factors being the key factors influencing microbial community *** stochastic process plays a dominant role in the aggregation and replacement of AAPB communities,among which the most contribution is dispersal *** AAPB network,Yoonia and Gemmobacter are the hubs for *** results valuable insights into the AAPB communities in TGR with low irradiation.

Adhesively Bonded Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic(CFRP)and titanium alloy have been extensively used as a hybrid structure in modern aircrafts due to their excellent combination of mechanical properties and chemical *** study utilised NaOH anodising method to create micro-rough titanium surfaces for enhancing adhesive bonding between titanium alloy and CFRP laminates.A special and simple technique named Resin Pre-Coating(RPC)was also employed to improve the surface wetting of anodised titanium and grinded CFRP *** influences of anodising temperature and duration on the surface morphology,wettability and adhesive bond strength were *** single lap shear test results showed that the bond strength of specimens anodised at 20℃for 15 min improved by 135.9%and 95.4%,respectively,in comparison with that of acid pickled and grinded specimens(without RPC treatment).Although increasing the anodising temperature and duration produced rougher titanium surfaces,the adhesively bonded joints were not strong enough due to relatively friable titanium oxide layers.

As a byproduct of water treatment,drinking water treatment aluminum sludge(DWTAS)has challenges related to imperfect treatment and disposal,which has caused potential harm to human health and the *** this paper,heat treatment DWTAS as a supplement cementitious material was used to prepare a green cementing *** results show that the 800℃ is considered as the optimum heat treatment temperature for ***-800℃ is fully activated after thermal decomposition to form incompletely crystallized highly activeγ-Al2O3 and active SiO_(2).The addition of DWTAS promoted the formation of ettringite and C-(A)-S-H gel,which could make up for the low early compressive strength of cementing materials to a certain *** cured for 90 days,the compressive strength of the mortar with 30% DWTAS-800℃ reached 44.86 *** dynamic process was well simulated by Krstulovi′c-Dabi′c hydration kinetics *** study provided a methodology for the fabrication of environmentally friendly and cost-effective compound cementitiousmaterials and proposed a“waste-to-resource”strategy for the sustainable management of typical solid wastes.

In recent years,explosion shock wave has been considered as a signature injury of the current military *** strong shock wave is lethal to the human body,weak shock wave can cause many more lasting *** investigate the protection ability and characteristics of flexible materials and structures under weak shock wave loading,the blast wave produced by TNT explosive is loaded on the polyurethane foam with the density of 200.0 kg/m3(F-200)and 400.0 kg/m3(F-400),polyurea with the density of 1100.0 kg/m^(3)(P-1100)and structures composed of the two materials,which are intended for individual *** results indicate that the shock wave is attenuated to weak pressure disturbance after interacting with the flexible materials which are not *** shock wave protective capability of single-layer materials is dependent on their thickness,density and microscopic *** overpressure,maximum pressure rise rate and impulse of transmitted wave decrease exponentially with increase in sample *** the same thickness,F-400 provides better protective capability than F-200 while P-1100 shows the best protective capability among the three *** this study,as the materials are not destroyed,F-200 with a thickness more than10.0 mm,F-400 with a thickness more than 4.0 mm,and P-1100 with a thickness more than 1.0 mm can attenuate the overpressure amplitude more than 90.0%.Further,multi-layer flexible composites are *** layer layouts of designed structures and layer thickness of the single-layer materials can affect the protective *** the research range,the structure in which polyurea is placed on the impact side shows the optimal shock wave protective performance,and the thicknesses of polyurea and polyurethane foam are 1.0 mm and 4.0 mm *** overpressure attenuation rate reached maximum value of 93.3%and impulse attenuation capacity of this structure are better than those of s
