Illustrating the multi-stakeholder perceptions of environmental pollution based on big data:Lessons from China

The relationship between stakeholders and the environment influences sustainable development and human *** illustrate the multi-stakeholder perceptions of environmental pollution in China,we interpreted a feedback loop in the perception-behavior-environment nexus from the perspective of the coupled human-environment system,measured the differences of environmental perceptions among five stakeholders(the public,government,media,companies,and scientists)and regions(including 31 provinces,autonomous regions,and municipalities in China,with exceptions of Taiwan of China,Hong Kong of China,and Macao of China due to a lack of data)using big data,and made a comparison between the perceptions and the actual pollution *** results showed that the five stakeholders exhibited similar perceptions of environmental pollution at the national scale,with air pollution being of most concern,followed by water pollution and soil *** were significant spatial differences in environmental *** stakeholders in the developed regions in eastern China paid relatively high attention to environmental issues,while those in the northwestern regions paid much less *** existed a mutual influence and interaction among the different *** attention should be paid to air pollution in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region,water pollution in Hainan Province,Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region,Heilongjiang Province,and Jilin Province,and soil pollution in Hainan Province,Fujian Province,and Jilin *** paper provides a research paradigm on multi-stakeholder environmental perceptions based on big data,and the results provide a background reference for regional environmental governance.

Estimation of Loose Status of Jigging Bed Based on Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System

In the separation process with a jig washer, an accurate on-line measurement of loose status of a jigging bed is essential for a successful control of coal quality and loose status is difficult to measure on-line directly in industrial process situations. So a soft-sensor technology is needed for this purpose. The soft-sensor model is developed in the experiment by an adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system （ANFIS） which has a remarkable ability of learning and generalization. Based on the analysis of the technologic mechanism of jigging bed, the structure of the ANFIS is established to build the soft-sensor model of loose status estimation. The ANFIS is trained by a hybrid learning algorithm. Finally, the simulation results and comparison analysis are presented, which indicate that the ANFIS has better abilities of learning and generalization than the RBF and the BP networks. Thus, it is possible that the loose status of the jigging bed can be estimated on-line bv using ANFIS.

HISTORICAL DESERTIFICATION PROCESS IN HEXI CORRIDOR,CHINA

Over the last 2000 years, approximately 38 ancient cities were abandoned through desertification in Hexi Corridor, Northwest China. Among them, 21.05% were abandoned during the Northern and Southern Dynasties, 21.05% during the end of the Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties, and 57.9% during the Ming and Qing dynasties. At the same time, main lakes were shrinking rapidly from the 5th Century to the 6th Century and the end of the Qing Dynasty. The climate in these periods was relatively arid and cold with frequent dusts. The phase of these changes indicated that there were three periods of desertification enlargement in the northern China. They were Northern and Southern Dynasties, the end of Tang Dynasty and Five Dynasties, the Ming and Qing dynasties. The macro-process of desertification in the study area was controlled mainly by the climatic changes. But from the facts that the population density in the middle of Qing Dynasty had exceeded the critical index of population pressure in arid area and the usage rate of water resources had exceeded 40% in Hexi Corridor, this paper also suggests that human activities have played an important role in desertification processes of the study area mainly during the recent 300 years.

Antibacterial Effect of Cinnamon Oil Combined with Thyme or Clove Oil

Antibacterial effect of cinnamon oil combined with thyme or clove oil was studied in this paper. Agar dilution method was used to determine the minimum inhibitory concentrations （MICs） of the essential oils （EOs） of cinnamon, thyme, and clove oil against three Gram-positive bacteria （Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus cereus, and Staphylococcus aureus）, and two Gramnegative bacteria （Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhimurium）. The results showed that cinnamon was a promising antibacterial substance with MIC ranged from 0.1 to 0.4 μL mL^-1 for the five bacterial species. Agar dilution checkerboard method was used to test the combined antibacterial effect of cinnamon oil with thyme or clove oil. Combination of cinnamon and thyme oil showed an additive effect against all selected bacteria, and combination of cinnamon and clove oil displayed an additive effect against B. subtilis, B. cereus, S. aureus, and an indifferent effect against E. coli and S. typhimurium. Furthermore, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry （GC-MS） measurement was used to analyze the components of the EOs, and the main components of cinnamon, thyme, and clove were cinnamaldehyde, thymol, carvacrol and p-cymene, and eugenol, respectively.

The effects of different annealing processes on the phase precipitation behavior and corrosion properties of copper-bearing 430 ferritic stainless steel were systematically *** shape,quantity and distribution of copper-rich precipitates by different annealing processes were characterized by scanning electron microscopy,transmission electron microscopy,backscatter electron and backscatter *** pitting resistance behavior in simulated physiological saline envi-ronments(0.9 wt.%NaCl)was investigated using electrochemical workstation and X-ray photoelectron *** results showed that the copper-rich phase prepared by repeated rolling and annealing gradually changed from long needle-like to short thick rod-like and granular,whose distribution tended to be uniform and diffusive,and the number of copper-rich phases *** solution/antibacterial annealing process,the size and density of the copper-rich phase increase,resulting in a discontinuity of the passivation film on the stainless steel,which reduces the pitting resistance to some *** refinement mechanism revealed that pre-deformation brings about a modification in both precipitation mechanism and growth kinetics of epsilon copper.

Oligodendrocyte progenitor cells in Alzheimer’s disease:from physiology to pathology

Oligodendrocyte progenitor cells(OPCs)play pivotal roles in myelin formation and phagocytosis,communicating with neighboring cells and contributing to the integrity of the blood-brain barrier(BBB).However,under the pathological circumstances of Alzheimer’s disease(AD),the brain’s microenvironment undergoes detrimental changes that significantly impact OPCs and their *** with OPC functions,we delve into the transformation of OPCs to myelin-producing oligodendrocytes,the intricate signaling interactions with other cells in the central nervous system(CNS),and the fascinating process of phagocytosis,which influences the function of OPCs and affects CNS ***,we discuss the essential role of OPCs in BBB formation and highlight the critical contribution of OPCs in forming CNS-protective *** the context of AD,the deterioration of the local microenvironment in the brain is discussed,mainly focusing on neuroinflammation,oxidative stress,and the accumulation of toxic *** detrimental changes disturb the delicate balance in the brain,impacting the regenerative capacity of OPCs and compromising myelin *** pathological conditions,OPCs experience significant alterations in migration and proliferation,leading to impaired differentiation and a reduced ability to produce mature ***,myelin degeneration and formation become increasingly active in AD,contributing to progressive ***,we summarize the current therapeutic approaches targeting OPCs in *** to revitalize OPC senescence,modulate signaling pathways to enhance OPC differentiation,and explore other potential therapeutic avenues are promising in alleviating the impact of AD on OPCs and CNS *** conclusion,this review highlights the indispensable role of OPCs in CNS function and their involvement in the pathogenesis of *** intricate interplay between OPCs and the AD brain microenvironment underscores the complex

Unsupervised Recognition of Informative Features via Tensor Network Machine Learning and Quantum Entanglement Variations

Given an image of a white shoe drawn on a blackboard,how are the white pixels deemed(say by human minds)to be informative for recognizing the shoe without any labeling information on the pixels?Here we investigate such a“white shoe”recognition problem from the perspective of tensor network(TN)machine learning and quantum *** a generative TN that captures the probability distribution of the features as quantum amplitudes,we propose an unsupervised recognition scheme of informative features with variations of entanglement entropy(EE)caused by designed *** this way,a given sample,where the values of its features are statistically meaningless,is mapped to the variations of EE that statistically characterize the gain of *** show that the EE variations identify the features that are critical to recognize this specific sample,and the EE itself reveals the information distribution of the probabilities represented by the TN *** signs of the variations further reveal the entanglement structures among the *** test the validity of our scheme on a toy dataset of strip images,the MNIST dataset of hand-drawn digits,the fashion-MNIST dataset of the pictures of fashion articles,and the images of nerve *** scheme opens the avenue to the quantum-inspired and interpreted unsupervised learning,which can be applied to,e.g.,image segmentation and object detection.

Reduction kinetics of MgO-doped calcium ferrites under CO-N2 atmosphere

The effect of magnesia on calcium ferrite(***2O3)reduction by CO was examined by isothermal *** of calcium ferrite added with 0,2,4,and 8 wt.%magnesia(abbreviated as CF,CF2M,CF4M,and CF8M)were *** composition was analyzed by X-ray diffraction,and the results indicated that CF2M and CF4M are reduced to lower reduction degree and with lower apparent activation energy than CF;and CF8M with more ***2O3 is reduced to a lower degree and with more difficulty compared with *** rate analysis revealed that CF,CF2M,CF4M,and CF8M reductions are all typical two-step reactions with the order of CF→CWF(***2O3)→*** apparent reduction activation energies of CF,CF2M,CF4M,and CF8M are 46.89,37.30,17.30,and 29.20 kJ/mol,*** analysis depicted that CF2M,CF4M,and CF8M reductions are all described by 2D Avrami–Erofeev(A–E)equation(A2)in the whole process,while CF reduction is first expressed by A2 and then by 3D A–E equation(A3).Different from shrinking core model,a new kinetic model for powdery samples reduction was proposed to illustrate the relationship among reduction rates,reduction routes,and model functions.
