The optimized molecular structure and harmonic vibrational frequencies of a 1,4-bis [ 2-（4-pyridyl）ethenyl]- benzene（BPENB） molecule were calculated via five popular density functional theory（DFI＇） methods. On the basis of the comparison between calculated and experimental results, it is concluded that the B3PW91 and B3lYP methods are superior to the others in optimizing structures, and the BPW91 method reproduces the observed fundamental fre-quencies most satisfactorily.

Background:Endothelial keratoplasty(EK)is used increasingly for the management of cases with endothelial ***-term outcomes of the surgery are not widely reported in the *** report our experience of EK in Chinese eyes at a University teaching ***:Retrospective analysis was performed for all cases of EK performed between 2005 and *** analyzed included indication for surgery,associated surgical procedures,complications,best-corrected visual acuity(BCVA)and overall graft ***:Overall,22 eyes of 21 patients underwent EK(13 males,8 females,mean age 71.8±11.3 years).Pseudophakic bullous keratopathy was the leading indication for surgery(n=12)followed by Fuchs’endothelial dystrophy(n=4),or both(n=3).Other indications for surgery included failed penetrating keratoplasty(n=2)and endothelial decompensation due to multiple surgeries(n=1).Triple procedure was performed in 5(22.7%)*** were noted in the form of postoperative interface hemorrhage(n=2,9%)and graft dislocation(n=1,4.5%).The mean postoperative endothelial cell density was 1069±585.8 cells/*** mean postoperative pachymetry was 675.8±108.5μ*** mean preoperative and postoperative intraocular pressure was 11.3±3.2 and 13.9±4.5 mmHg *** the last follow-up(mean,47.4±13.7 months),BCVA was≥20/70 in 9(40.9%)*** of poor BCVA included primary graft failure(n=4),graft decompensation(n=4),advanced glaucoma(n=2)and irreversible graft rejection(n=2).Graft remained clear in 12(54.5%)cases at the last *** graft survival was 19.7±17.7 months(median 17.5 months).Conclusions:Nearly half of the EK grafts in our study survived over a period of five *** failure,glaucoma and graft rejection were the main causes of poor graft survival.

An one-year of sampling aerosol program was carried out during the period of April 1995 to April 1996 at coastal region, Cape D′Aguilar, in Hong Kong. The trace element composition of aerosol particles(TSP and PM 10 ) were measured and analyzed by using the Instrumental Neutron Activation Analysis(INAA) and Inductive Couple Plasma-Mass Spectrometry(ICP-MS) techniques. The results showed that the polluted elements such as: V, Zn, As, Pb, Cd, Sb, I, Se, Bi, with high enrichment factor(E.F) values, are derived from anthropogenic sources, while Sc, Al, Fe, Mn, Sm, la, Sr are less than 10 in E.F, these elements are related the crust and soil. The concentration of the trace elements are present seasonal variation i.e. summer low and winter high, whereas the V or noncrustal V(V *) present summer high and winter low, this phenomenon might be explained by local or regional oil combustion sources. Use three type of elemental ratio, e.g. la/Sm, Mn */V * and Bi/Al indicate that both TSP and PM 10 of la/Sm ratios are mainly related to soil and dust, Mn */V * are probably represent fossil combustion and Bi/Al are possibly associated with refuse incineration, ferromanganese alloys and aluminum production. The varimax rotation factor analysis for trace elements was performed. By means of the absolute principal component analysis(APCA) and multiple regression, the contribution of trace elements to possible sources and overall means of trace elements were estimated. The results showed that the present station is impacted by the anthropogenic species, although the quantities are different during the summertime and wintertime.

Microbial Gas in the Mohe Permafrost, Northeast China and its Significance to Gas Hydrate Accumulation in Permafrost across China

The Mohe permafrost in northeast China possesses favorable subsurface ambient temperature, salinity, Eh values and pH levels of groundwater for the formation of microbial gas, and the Mohe Basin contains rich organic matter in the Middle Jurassic dark mudstones. This work conducted gas chromatography and isotope mass spectrometry analyses of nearly 90 core gas samples from the Mk-2 well in the Mohe Basin. The results show that the dryness coefficient(C1/C1–5) of core hydrocarbon gas from approximately 900 m intervals below the surface is larger than 98%, over 70% of the δ13 C values of methane are smaller than-55‰, and almost all δD values of methane are smaller than-250‰, indicative of a microbial origin of the gas from almost 900 m of the upper intervals in the Mohe permafrost. Moreover, the biomarker analyses of 72 mudstone samples from the Mohe area indicate that all of them contain 25-norhopane series compounds, thereby suggesting widely distributed microbial activities in the permafrost. This work has confirmed the prevailing existence of microbial gas in the Mohe area, which may be a potential gas source of gas hydrate formation in the Mohe permafrost. This result is of great significance to gas hydrate accumulation in the permafrost across China.

AIM： To report the outcomes of anterior vitrectomy using high speed cutter for scleral fixated intraocular lens （SFIOl） implantation in patients with posterior capsular rupture .METHODS： Medical records of 51 patients with posterior capsular rupture who received high speed cutter anterior vitrectomy via limbal incision with SFIOl implantation from June 2011 to December 2013 were reviewed retrospectively for visual outcomes and ***： Totally 51 eyes of 51 patients were identified （23 males and 28 females）. Mean age at surgery was 67.2±15y （range 27-91y）, with mean follow-up of 23±8.2mo （range 12-40mo）. The 49 （96.1%） eyes had improvement or unchanged of final postoperative visual acuity. The most common complication was vitreous haemorrhage （5.9%） and transient rise in intraocular pressure （5.9%） which all spontaneously resolved CONClUSION： High speed cutter anterior vitrectomy via limbal incision is a safe and effective method for those with posterior capsular rupture for SFIOl implantation.

Atherosclerosis(AS)is the main pathological basis of cardiovascular ***,the prevention and treatment strategies of AS have attracted great research *** a potential probiotic,Pararabacteroides distasonis has a positive regulatory effect on lipid metabolism and bile acids(BAs)*** procyanidins have been confirmed to be conducive to the prevention and treatment of AS,whose antiatherosclerotic effect may be associated with the promotion of gut ***,it remains unclear whether and how oligomeric procyanidins and *** combined(PPC)treatment can effectively alleviate high-fat diet(HFD)-induced *** this study,PPC treatment was found to significantly decrease atherosclerotic lesion,as well as alleviate the lipid metabolism disorder,inflammation and oxidative stress injury in ApoE^(-/-)***,targeted metabolomics demonstrated that PPC intervention altered the BA profile in mice by regulating the ratio of secondary BAs to primary BAs,and increased fecal BAs ***,quantitative polymerase chain reaction(qPCR)analysis showed that PPC intervention facilitated reverse cholesterol transport by upregulating Srb1 expression;In addition,PPC intervention promoted BA synthesis from cholesterol in liver by upregulating Cyp7a1 expression via suppression of the farnesoid X receptor(FXR)pathway,thus exhibiting a significant serum cholesterol-lowering *** summary,PPC attenuated HFD-induced AS in ApoE^(-/-)mice,which provides new insights into the design of novel and efficient anti-atherosclerotic strategies to prevent AS based on probiotics and prebiotics.

Vasorelaxant effect of osthole on isolated thoracic aortic rings in rats

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of osthole on isolated thoracic aortic rings, and to determine the potential mechanism of ***: Thoracic aortas were isolated from Wistar rats, and were suspended in tissue organ chambers for vascular tension measurement. The effect of cumulative osthole(10-9, 10-8, 10-7, 10-6, and 10-5 mol/l) on endothelium-intact and endothelium-denuded thoracic aortic rings pre-contracted with phenylephrine(PE, 10-6 mol/l) or KCl(6 × 10-2 mol/l) was recorded. Histomorphological changes of thoracic aorta were analyzed by hematoxylin-eosin. The effects of different osthole concentrations on endothelium-intact aortic rings, which were pre-inhibited with the non-selective nitric oxide synthase inhibitor l-Arg(NO2)-OMe·HCl(3 × 10-4 mol/l), endothelium-derived nitric oxide synthase inhibitor Nω-nitro-l-arginine(3 × 10-4 mol/l), guanylate cyclase inhibitor 1 H-[1,2,4] oxadiazolo [4,3-α]quinoxaline-1-one(10-5 mol/l), cyclooxygenase inhibitor indometacin(10-5 mol/l), and the Ca2+-activated potassium channel inhibitor tetraethylammonium nitrate(10-5 mol/l), and then contracted with PE, were examined. Aortic rings incubated with osthole(10-5 mol/l), phentolamine(10-5 mol/l), or verapamil(10-5 mol/l) in Ca2+-free Krebs-Henseleit solution(KHS) were stimulated with PE or ***: There was a dose-dependent increase in vasorelaxation of isolated thoracic aortic rings(both with and without endothelium) with increasing osthole concentration. Hematoxylin-eosin staining showed that osthole significantly improved thoracic aorta ring morphology. Compared with the control group, there were also significant differences after incubation with l-Arg(NO2)-OMe ω-nitro-l-arginine, and 1 H-[1,2,4] oxadiazo·lo HCl,N [4,3-α] quinoxaline-1-one(P ll). The relaxation rate of the rings in the osthole group incubated with indometacin and tetraethylammonium nitrate were similar to controls.
