The presence of high-density defects is rarely observed in bulk 3 mol%yttria-stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystal(3Y-TZP)ceramics obtained through conventional pressureless *** the present work,fine-grained dense 147 nm 3Y-TZP ceramics were prepared by pressureless sintering of commercial 0.25 wt%alumina-doped zirconia powders at 1300℃.A novel discovery was reported in which large amounts of defects were present in the grain interiors of the *** phenomenon was further examined using three types of powder samples,and the reasons for defect formation were investigated by microstructural characterization using high-resolution transmission electron microscopy(HRTEM)analysis and Rietveld *** results confirmed the essential dependence of the defect formation on the alumina *** authors attributed the defect formation to the significant difference in ionic radii of the solvent and solute during the dissolution of alumina into the zirconia *** sintering kinetics were proposed to be enhanced by the presence of substantial defects,which consequently favored the low-temperature sintering of the alumina-doped zirconia ceramics.

In this editorial,we discuss an article titled,“Significant risk factors for intensive care unit-acquired weakness:A processing strategy based on repeated machine learning,”published in a recent issue of the World Journal of Clinical *** care unit-acquired weakness(ICU-AW)is a debilitating condition that affects critically ill patients,with significant implications for patient outcomes and their quality of *** study explored the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques to predict ICU-AW occurrence and identify key risk *** from a cohort of 1063 adult intensive care unit(ICU)patients were analyzed,with a particular emphasis on variables such as duration of ICU stay,duration of mechanical ventilation,doses of sedatives and vasopressors,and underlying comorbidities.A multilayer perceptron neural network model was developed,which exhibited a remarkable impressive prediction accuracy of 86.2%on the training set and 85.5%on the test *** study highlights the importance of early prediction and intervention in mitigating ICU-AW risk and improving patient outcomes.

BACKGROUND Lumbar disc herniation(LDH)commonly occurs during spinal surgery;LDH is on the increase in younger patients and is classified as"paralysis"and"back pain."Sanhanchushi Tongbi(SPST)is a customized *** disperses cold,relieves pain,removes cold from the meridians and viscera,and treats neuropathic ***,few studies have investigated its mechanism of pain *** To observe the clinical therapeutic effects on LDH treated with self-prescribed *** A total of 211 patients with LDH syndrome were divided into two groups:107 patients in the control group were treated with conventional massage combined with traction,and 104 patients in the observation group were treated with a combination of the control regimen and self-prescribed oral *** patients were treated for 4 *** of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome score and serum inflammatory factor levels were *** After therapy,the TCM syndrome score in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).The main symptoms,clinical signs,daily activities,and Japanese Orthopedic Association scores in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group after therapy(P<0.05).The levels of tumor necrosis factor-α,interleukin-6,and C-reactive protein were lower in the observation group than in the control group(P<0.05).In the observation group,superoxide dismutase levels were significantly higher,whereas malondialdehyde levels were significantly lower,compared with the control group(P<0.05).The overall efficacy rate in the observation group was 96.15%,which was substantially higher than that in the control group(88.79%;P<0.05).CONCLUSION Self-prescribed SPST can reduce the levels of inflammatory and pain-causing factors as well as lumbar pain in patients with LDH.

Seismic hazards threaten underground structures and subsequently affect surface buildings， making effective vibration reduction measures crucial in shallow underground spaces. This paper proposes a multi-layer shielding pile based on the seismic wave attenuation theory of refraction dispersion and diffraction loss as a new vibration reduction method. By using the dynamic wave interaction between the unique multi-layer structure of the shielding pile and the seismic wave， a shielding area with significant attenuation of the ground motion is formed to achieve the purpose of vibration reduction. The spectral element method (SEM) with high-order source time function and convolution perfect matching layer (PML) is used to simulate the numerical models of shielding piles with different parameters (including background models and excavation models)， and the characteristics of ground motion and site effect near shielding piles in various models are analyzed. The study reveals the control effect and regulation of the material， size， and shape of the shielding pile on its vibration reduction effect， and determines the shielding pile parameters with the best vibration reduction effect. Shielding piles enriches the vibration reduction measures for structures in shallow underground spaces， and provides a new method for preventing seismic hazards under dynamic load.
