Laser cladding of NiCrSiB on Monel 400 to enhance cavitation erosion and corrosion resistance

NiCrSiB modified layer was synthesized on Monel 400 by laser cladding,aiming at improving cavitation erosion and corrosion *** microstructure,chemical composition,phase constituents and microhardness were investigated using scanning electron microscope(SEM),energy-dispersive spectrometer(EDS),X-ray diffractometry(XRD) and microhardness *** cavitation erosion and corrosion behaviors of the modified layer were also evaluated using an ultrasonic vibrator and potentiodynamic polarization measurement,*** results show that by varying the laser fluence,a hard NiCrSiB modified layer with little airholes,cracks or other defects could be *** modified layer is ~1.1 mm in *** microstructure of the modified layer exhibits cellular dendrite,flake-like dendrite and multiple eutectic *** modified layer is mainly composed of γ-Ni solid solution,chromium carbide(Cr_(7)C_(3)and Cr_(23)C_(6)) and Ni_(3)*** microhardness of the modified layer is ~6.8 times that of Monel 400 *** the cavitation erosion and corrosion resistance of the modified layer are *** the cavitation erosion test,the cumulative erosion loss and erosion loss rate of the modified layer are one order of magnitude lower than that of the *** the electrochemical corrosion test,the corrosion potentials of the substrate and the modified layer are *** corrosion current densities of the substrate and the modified layer are 11.12 and 1.95 μA·cm^(-2),*** comparing their corrosion current densities,the corrosion resistance of the modified layer is about 5.7 times that of the substrate.

Insight into the mechanism of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural electroreduction to 2,5-bis(hydroxymethyl)furan over Cu anchored N-doped carbon nanosheets

Design of non-noble metal electrocatalysts for biomass conversion to high-value chemicals and understanding the related catalytic mechanisms are of profound significance but have remained a major ***,we developed a novel biomass-derived electrocatalyst(denoted as Cu/NC),featuring with electron-deficient copper nanoparticles anchored on N-doped carbon nanosheets,for the electrochemical reduction of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural(HMF)to 2,5-bis(hydroxymethyl)furan(BHMF,a vital precursor of functional polymers).The optimized Cu/NC electrocatalyst exhibited an excellent performance with high Faradaic efficiency(89.5%)and selectivity(90.8%)of BHMF at a low concentration of HMF(18.1 mM).Even at a very high HMF concentration(108.6 mM),the Faraday efficiency and selectivity of BHMF could still reach 74.8%and 81.1%,*** performance approached those of the reported noble metal-based *** study revealed that the N doping in the Cu/NC catalyst could regulate the electronic structure of Cu,strengthening the adsorption of the HMF carbonyl group,and thus boosting the selectivity of ***,strong electronic metal-support interactions of Cu and the N-doped carbon support optimized the charge transfer rate,thus promoting the dissociation of water to the active hydrogen(H^(*))species and boosting the reaction kinetic rate of H^(*)and HMF.

Two material removal modes in chemical mechanical polishing:mechanical plowing *** bonding

With the rapid development of semiconductors,the number of materials needed to be polished sharply *** material properties vary significantly,posing challenges to chemical mechanical polishing(CMP).Accordingly,the study aimed to classify the material removal *** on the CMP and atomic force microscopy results,the six representative metals can be preliminarily classified into two groups,presumably due to different material removal *** the tribology perspective,the first group of Cu,Co,and Ni may mainly rely on the mechanical plowing *** adding H_(2)O_(2),corrosion can be first enhanced and then suppressed,affecting the surface mechanical ***,the material removal rate(MRR)and the surface roughness increase and *** comparison,the second group of Ta,Ru,and Ti may primarily depend on the chemical bonding *** H_(2)O_(2)can promote oxidation,increasing interfacial chemical ***,the MRR increases,and the surface roughness decreases and levels *** addition,CMP can be regulated by tuning the synergistic effect of oxidation,complexation,and dissolution for mechanical plowing,while tuning the synergistic effect of oxidation and ionic strength for chemical *** findings provide mechanistic insight into the material removal mechanism in CMP.

Epitaxial growth of borophene on graphene surface towards efficient and broadband photodetector

In-situ integration of multiple materials with well-defined interfaces as heterostructures is of great interest due to their unique properties and potential for new device *** of its polymorphism and diverse bonding geometries,borophene is a promising candidate for two-dimensional heterostructures,but suitable synthesis conditions have limited its potential *** this end,we demonstrate the vertical borophene and graphene heterostructures which form by epitaxial growth of borophene onto multilayer graphene on Cu substrates via chemical vapor deposition,where hydrogen and NaBH_(4) are respectively used as the carrier gas and the boron *** lattice structure of the as-synthesized borophene well coincides with the predictedα′-boron *** borophene-based photodetector shows an excellent broadband photoresponse from the ultraviolet(255 nm)to the infrared(940 nm)wavelengths,with enhanced responsivity compared to pristine borophene or graphene *** work informs emerging efforts to integrate borophene into nanoelectronic applications for both fundamental investigations and technological applications.

Large-Scale Multi-Objective Optimization Algorithm Based on Weighted Overlapping Grouping of Decision Variables

The large-scale multi-objective optimization algorithm(LSMOA),based on the grouping of decision variables,is an advanced method for handling high-dimensional decision ***,in practical problems,the interaction among decision variables is intricate,leading to large group sizes and suboptimal optimization effects;hence a large-scale multi-objective optimization algorithm based on weighted overlapping grouping of decision variables(MOEAWOD)is proposed in this ***,the decision variables are perturbed and categorized into convergence and diversity variables;subsequently,the convergence variables are subdivided into groups based on the interactions among different decision *** the size of a group surpasses the set threshold,that group undergoes a process of weighting and overlapping ***,the interaction strength is evaluated based on the interaction frequency and number of objectives among various decision *** decision variable with the highest interaction in the group is identified and disregarded,and the remaining variables are then reclassified into ***,the decision variable with the strongest interaction is added to each *** minimizes the interactivity between different groups and maximizes the interactivity of decision variables within groups,which contributed to the optimized direction of convergence and diversity exploration with different *** was subjected to testing on 18 benchmark large-scale optimization problems,and the experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our *** with the other algorithms,our method is still at an advantage.

Mirizzi syndrome is a serious complication of gallstone *** is caused by the impacted stones in the gallbladder neck or cystic *** of the features of Mirizzi syndrome is severe inflammation or dense fibrosis at the Calot’s *** our clinical practice,bile duct,branches of right hepatic artery and right portal vein clinging to gallbladder infundibulum are often observed due to gallbladder infundibulum adhered to right hepatic *** intraoperative damage of branches of right hepatic artery occurs more easily than that of bile duct,all of which are hidden pitfalls for *** resonance cholangiopancreatography(MRCP)and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(ERCP)are the preferable tools for the diagnosis of Mirizzi *** cholecystectomy in Mirizzi syndrome is easy to damage branches of right hepatic artery and bile duct due to gallbladder infundibulum adhered to right hepatic *** cholecystectomy is an easy,safe and definitive approach to Mirizzi *** combined with the application of ERCP,a laparoscopic management of Mirizzi syndrome by well-trained surgeons is feasible and *** objective of this review was to highlight its existing problems:(1)low preoperative diagnostic rate,(2)easy to damage bile duct and branches of right hepatic artery,and(3)high concomitant gallbladder ***,the review aimed to discuss the possible therapeutic strategies:(1)to enhance its preoperative recognition by imaging findings,and(2)to avoid potential pitfalls during surgery.

Fluorescence imaging in the second near-infrared window(NIR-II,900–1880 nm)with less scattering background in biological tissues has been combined with the confocal microscopic system for achieving deep in vivo imaging with high spatial ***,the traditional NIR-IIfluorescence confocal microscope with separate excitation focus and detection pinhole makes it possess low confocal e±ciency,as well as di±cultly to *** types of upgraded NIR-IIfluorescence confocal microscopes,sharing the same pinhole by excitation and emission focus,leading to higher confocal e±ciency,are built in this *** type is-ber-pinhole-based confocal microscope applicable to CW laser *** is constructed forfluorescence intensity imaging with large depth,high stabilization and low cost,which could replace multiphotonfluorescence microscopy in some applications(e.g.,cerebrovascular and hepatocellular imaging).The other type is air-pinhole-based confocal microscope applicable to femtosecond(fs)laser *** can be employed not only for NIR-IIfluorescence intensity imaging,but also for multi-channelfluorescence lifetime imaging to recognize different structures with similarfluorescence ***,it can be facilely combined with multiphotonfluorescence microscopy.A single fs pulsed laser is utilized to achieve up-conversion(visible multiphotonfluorescence)and down-conversion(NIR-II one-photonfluorescence)excitation simultaneously,extending imaging spectral channels,and thus facilitates multi-structure and multi-functional observation.

Ghost imaging in the time domain allows for reconstructing fast temporal objects using a slow *** technique involves correlating random or pre-programmed probing temporal intensity patterns with the integrated signal measured after modulation by the temporal ***,the implementation of temporal ghost imaging necessitates ultrafast detectors or modulators for measuring or pre-programming the probing intensity patterns,which are not available in all spectral regions especially in the mid-infrared ***,we demonstrate a frequency downconversion temporal ghost imaging scheme that enables to extend the operation regime to arbitrary wavelengths regions where fast modulators and detectors are not *** approach modulates a signal with temporal intensity patterns in the near-infrared and transfers the patterns to an idler via difference-frequency generation in a nonlinear crystal at a wavelength where the temporal object can be *** a proof-of-concept,we demonstrate computational temporal ghost imaging in the mid-infrared with operating wavelength that can be tuned from 3.2 to 4.3μ*** scheme is flexible and can be extended to other *** results introduce new possibilities for scan-free pump-probe imaging and the study of ultrafast dynamics in spectral regions where ultrafast modulation or detection is challenging such as the mid-infrared and THz regions.

Coral sandy soils widely exist in coral island reefs and seashores in tropical and subtropical *** to the unique marine depositional environment of coral sandy soils,the engineering characteristics and responses of these soils subjected to monotonic and cyclic loadings have been a subject of intense interest among the geotechnical and earthquake engineering *** paper critically reviews the progress of experimental investigations on the undrained behavior of coral sandy soils under monotonic and cyclic loadings over the last three *** focus of coverage includes the contractive-dilative behavior,the pattern of excess pore-water pressure(EPWP)generation and the liquefaction mechanism and liquefaction resistance,the small-strain shear modulus and strain-dependent shear modulus and damping,the cyclic softening feature,and the anisotropic characteristics of undrained responses of saturated coral sandy *** particular,the advances made in the past decades are reviewed from the following aspects:(1)the characterization of factors that impact the mechanism and patterns of EPWP build-up;(2)the identification of liquefaction triggering in terms of the apparent viscosity and the average flow coefficient;(3)the establishment of the invariable form of strain-based,stress-based,or energy-based EPWP ratio formulas and the unique relationship between the new proxy of liquefaction resistance and the number of cycles required to reach liquefaction;(4)the establishment of the invariable form of the predictive formulas of small strain modulus and strain-dependent shear modulus;and(5)the investigation on the effects of stress-induced anisotropy on liquefaction susceptibility and dynamic deformation *** gained through the critical review of these advances in the past decades offer a perspective for future research to further resolve the fundamental issues concerning the liquefaction mechanism and responses of coral sandy sites subjecte
