Effects of Ginsenoside Rg1 on nuclear factor-kappa B activity in beta amyloid protein-treated neural cells

BACKGROUND： Modern pharmacological studies have shown that Ginsenoside Rgl is one of the active components of ginseng that promote intelligence in the nervous system. Ginsenoside Rgl can improve memory and learning in mouse models of β-amyloid protein （Aβ）-induced dementia. OBJECTIVE： To investigate whether effects of Ginsenoside Rgl against Aβ are associated with activity of nuclear factor-kappa B （NF-κB）. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING： The randomized performed at the DME Center, Institute of Clinica controlled, cell biological experiment was Pharmacology, Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, China from July 2005 to May 2006. MATERIALS： Beta-amyloid fragment 25-35 （Aβ25-35） was supplied by the Neural Biochemical Laboratory, Xuanwu Hospital, Capital Medical University, China. Ginsenoside Rgl was obtained from National Institute for the Control of Pharmaceutical and Biological Products, China. Rabbit anti-rat NF-κB p65 antibody was purchased from Santa Cruz Biotechnology, USA. METHODS： Hippocampal neurons and cortical astrocytes of neonatal Sprague Dawley rats were harvested and treated with various concentrations （0, 5, 10, 20, and 40 μmol/L） of Aβ for 6, 12, and 24 hours to establish cellular models of Alzheimer＇s disease. Cellular models were pretreated with various concentrations of Ginsenoside Rgl （1,2, 4, 8, and 16 μmol/L）. According to cell morphology and activity, the following conditions were selected： 40 μmol/L Aβ for 24 hours, as well as 2, 4, and 8 μmol/L Ginsenoside Rg1. NF-κB activity was observed using immunofluorescence and cytochemical staining. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES： Morphology and viability of hippocampal neurons and cortical astrocytes, and activities of NF-κB were measured. RESULTS： Hippocampal neuron activity was significantly greater in the normal and 2 and 4 μmol/L Ginsenoside Rgl groups compared with the model group （P 〈 0.05）. Astrocyte activity was significantly greater in the normal, 1,2, 4, 8, and 16 μmol/L Ginsenoside Rgl groups compared

Relationship between the Stratospheric Arctic Vortex and Surface Air Temperature in the Midlatitudes of the Northern Hemisphere

It is known that different relationships exist between the strength and displacement of the stratospheric polar vortex(SPV),and the surface air temperature(SAT)patterns in Eurasia and North America,but the mechanisms behind these relationships remain unclear,especially on an interannual *** on empirical orthogonal function(EOF)analysis using NCEP reanalysis data over 1958–2018,this study attempts to ascertain the relationship between the SPV intensity and displacement over the Arctic and the SATs in the midlatitudes of the Northern *** results indicate that a strengthened SPV corresponds to an SAT increase in Eurasia and a decrease in eastern North America and *** the SPV is shifted towards Eurasia,however,a corresponding SAT increase occurs in both North America and Eurasia,with a larger increase in North America than in ***,a strengthened SPV tends to correspond to a positive North Atlantic Oscillation-like circulation in the troposphere with negative geopotential height(GH)anomalies in Greenland and eastern North American continent and positive GH anomalies to the north of 45°N in Eurasia,which corresponds to lower SATs in North America than in ***,when the SPV shifted towards Eurasia,it was accompanied by a positive Pacific/North American-like pattern with a deepened Aleutian low,which corresponds to the increasing SATs in North *** tropospheric circulation changes are related to the response of tropospheric planetary wave activity to the SPV.A strengthened SPV corresponds to the weakening of tropospheric planetary wave-1 waves,which is accompanied by a negative GH in North America but a positive GH in *** the SPV shifted towards Eurasia,the tropospheric planetary wave-1(-2)waves strengthened(weakened),and the combined effects of the planetary wave-1 and wave-2 waves would cause positive GH anomalies in both Eurasia and North America.

Hyperpolarized^(3)He nuclei have emerged as a significantly important approach in quantum precision measurement techniques,with extensive applications in fundamental physics,magnetometry,metrology,and *** this study,we report on the design and implementation of a^(3)He polarization system at the China Mianyang Research Reactor(CMRR),utilizing the metastabilityexchange optical pumping(MEOP)*** employed a Merritt coil system consisting of four square coils to furnish a uniform holding *** deployed a 2 W fiber laser to pump the metastable^(3)He atoms and conducted free induction decay(FID)detection of the polarized^(3)He nuclei using both pickup coil and optical *** the optical method,we used a50 m W linearly polarized distributed Bragg reflector(DBR)laser as the *** applied transverse light absorption polarimetry to measure the absolute nuclear polarization of the ground-state^(3)*** have developed cell fabrication capabilities at the CMRR,and cells at various pressures ranging from 100 to 1000 Pa have been fabricated and *** a typical borosilicate cell with 100 Pa pressure,the absolute polarization is measured as Pn≈70%,and the transverse relaxation time is estimated as T2≈0.5 ***,we constructed a few aluminosilicate cells,each carefully filled with pure^(3)He at a pressure of 100 ***,we conducted a comprehensive evaluation of their performance in the context of MEOP.

Clinical application of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation in children with refractory cardiopulmonary failure

Background:This study aimed to discribe the experience in supporting children with refractory cardiopulmonary failure with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation(ECMO).Methods:We retrospectively reviewed 12 children with refractory cardiopulmonary failure supported with ECMO from February 2009 to August 2015 in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit(PICU),Children's Hospital,Zhejiang University School of ***:Seven of the 12 patients were weaned successfully from ECMO and dischaged from the hospital,with a survival rate of 58.3%(7/12).Among them,fi ve patients had acute fulminant myocarditis(AFM).Complications during ECMO included hemorrhage,hemolysis,thrombosis,acute kidney injury,and secondary hematogenous *** 1-24 month follow-up,the seven surviving patients recovered with normal cardiopulmonary ***:ECMO is useful for supporting children with refractory cardiopulmonary failure,especially for treatment of AFM.

Effects of the properties of Mg(OH)_(2)precursor on the hydrothermal synthesis of magnesium oxysulfate whiskers

Magnesium oxysulfate(MOS)whiskers are commonly synthesized through a dissolution-precipitation mechanism,wherein Mg(OH)_(2)dissolves to form Mg(OH)64−,followed by reactions with SO_(4)^(2−)and H_(2)O to yield MOS ***,the impact of Mg(OH)_(2)precursor properties on the formation process of MOS whiskers has been insufficiently explored,and sector-like and needle-like morphologies were both observed in previous *** this study,we systematically investigated how the properties of Mg(OH)_(2)precursors influenced the crystalline structure and morphology of MOS *** various experimental conditions,MgSO_(4)·5Mg(OH)_(2)·2H_(2)O(152MOS)whiskers were consistently obtained,regardless of Mg(OH)_(2)morphology and *** size of Mg(OH)_(2)emerged as a critical factor in shaping the morphology of 152MOS ***-sized Mg(OH)_(2)(≤106±37 nm)favored the formation of sector-like whiskers,while larger-sized Mg(OH)_(2)(≥206±98 nm)encouraged the development of needle-like *** distinction was attributed to the slower dissolution rate exhibited by larger-sized Mg(OH)_(2),maintaining a smaller number of 152MOS nuclei and promoting the growth of needle-like whiskers instead of the aggregation of 152MOS nuclei into sector-like *** addition,the effects of the molar ratio of Mg^(2+)to SO_(4)^(2−)and hydrothermal temperature were also *** average length and diameter of the needle-like whiskers prepared with Mg(OH)_(2)of 331±145 nm under optimized conditions were 77±32 and 0.39±0.10μm,*** study presented an effective strategy for controlling the morphology of 152MOS whiskers.

To assess whether a development strategy will be profitable enough,production forecasting is a crucial and difficult step in the *** development history of other reservoirs in the same class tends to be studied to make predictions ***,the permeability field,well patterns,and development regime must all be similar for two reservoirs to be considered in the same *** results in very few available experiences from other reservoirs even though there is a lot of historical information on numerous reservoirs because it is difficult to find such similar *** paper proposes a learn-to-learn method,which can better utilize a vast amount of historical data from various ***,the proposed method first learns how to learn samples before directly learning rules in ***,by utilizing gradients from networks with independent parameters and copied structure in each class of reservoirs,the proposed network obtains the optimal shared initial parameters which are regarded as transferable information across different *** on that,the network is able to predict future production indices for the target reservoir by only training with very limited samples collected from reservoirs in the same *** cases further demonstrate its superiority in accuracy to other widely-used network methods.
