Starch biosynthesis is important during endosperm development. Much has been known for the regulation of gene expression involved in starch synthesis, less information is available on the genome-wide expression profiles as a consequence of impaired starch synthesis. In this study, we examined the transcriptional responses through microarray analysis in an ae wx double-mutant with loss-of-function starch branching enzyme IIb （SBEIIb） and granule-bound starch synthase I （GBSSI）. Through Gene Ontology enrichment analysis, we identified differentially expressed genes （DEGs） involved in chromatin organization and lipid transport. The DEGs also include alcohol dehydrogenase genes and pyruvate decarboxylase genes involved in sugar metabolism. In summary, the ae wx double mutations caused pleiotropic effects and transcriptional changes for a number of genes involved in metabolism, cellular response and organization. Therefore, a block in starch synthesis triggers transcriptional responses to favour the flux of excess carbohydrates into glycolysis, pentose phosphate pathway, and cell wall biosynthesis, but not toward the synthesis of alternative storage compounds.

This study presents and verifies a new idea for constructing a rotary traveling wave ultrasonic motor （USM） that uses the radial bending mode of a ring. In the new design, 20 trapezoid cross section slots are cut symmetrically in the outer surface of a thick duralumin alloy ring, where 20 PZT stacks are nested. In each slot, two wedging blocks are set between the PZT stack and the two sides of the slot respectively to apply preloading on the PZT ceramics. Two radial bending modes of the stator that have a phase difference of a quarter wavelength on space are generated by using the d33 operating mode of the PZT elements, and then a flexural traveling wave is formed by the superimposing of two standing waves whose amplitudes are equal and phases are different by 90~ temporally. Two conical rotors are pressed to each end of the ring type stator by a coiled spring. The finite element method （FEM） simulation is developed to validate the feasibility of the proposed motor. The maximal speed and torque of the prototype are tested to be 126 r/rain and 0.8 N＇m, respectively.

In this paper,an adaptive composite anti-disturbance control of heavy haul trains(HHTs)is ***,the mechanical principle and characteristics of couplers are analysed and the longitudinal multi-particles nonlinear dynamic model of HHTs is established,which can satisfy that the forces of vehicles in different positions are ***,a radial basis function network(RBFNN)is employed to approximate the uncertainties of HHTs,and a nonlinear disturbance observer(NDO)is constructed to estimate the approximation error and external *** indicate and improve the approximation accuracy,a serial-parallel identification model of HHTs is constructed to generate a prediction error,and an adaptive composite anti-disturbance control scheme is developed,where the prediction error and tracking error are employed to update RBFNN weights and an auxiliary variable of ***,the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed control scheme are demonstrated through the Lyapunov theory and simulation experiments.

Accurate measurement of the three-dimensional(3D)movement of discrete particles is crucial for comprehending complex granular theology in *** this paper,the acceleration and angular velocity of particles in 3D silos are measured by using a spherical detector based on inertial technology and mag-netic positioning *** acceleration of particles is the largest in the center of silos,which suggest that the resistance generated by friction and extrusion is the ***,the angular velocity distribution follows lognormal function except for particles near the *** correlation between acceleration and angular velocity is opposite in different flow *** reveals for the first time that the extent to which the resultant force on the particles affects their rotational motion is related to the flow *** results have practical significance for regulating the granular flow pattern and optimizing the structural design of silos.

Background Combination therapy is an effective method to reduce the blood pressure （BP） for patients with *** study was performed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of benazepril/lercanidipine compared with benazepril alone in patients with mild-to-moderate *** One hundred and eighty-one patients with mild-to-moderate primary hypertension were assigned in this randomized,single-blind,parallel-group study and were randomly divided into group A （benazepril 10 mg/lercanidipine 10 mg） and group B （benazepril 10 mg） for 8 *** 4 weeks,the dosage of Benazepril was titrated up to 20 mg if the diastolic blood pressure （DBP） remained ≥90 *** control and side effects were evaluated at the end of 1,4 and 8 *** The baseline characteristics of the two groups were *** BP in both groups decreased from the baseline （P 〈0.05）.At the end of 4 and 8 weeks,Benazepril/Lercanidipine produced greater BP reduction than Benazepril alone （P 〈0.05）.The comparison of the rate of BP control for the benazepril/lercanidipine and benazepril groups at the end of 1,4,and 8 weeks were 41.2% vs.37.6% （P 〉0.05）,67.1% vs.44.7% （P 〈0.05）,and 71.8% vs.45.9% （P 〈0.05）.There was no significant difference of side effects between the two *** The benazepril/lercanidipine combination is more effective in reducing BP than benazepril alone,while it does not increase the incidence of side effects.

A decline in mucosal vascularity is a histological hallmark of oral submucous fibrosis (OSF), a premalignant disease that is largely induced by betel quid chewing. However, the lack of available models has challenged studies of angiogenesis in OSF. Here, we found that the expression of thrombospondin 1 (THBS1), an endogenous angiostatic protein, was elevated in the stroma of tissues with OSF. Using a fibroblast-attached organoid (FAO) model, the overexpression of THBS1 in OSF was stably recapitulated in vitro. In the FAO model,treatment with arecoline, a major pathogenic component in areca nuts, enhanced the secretion of transforming growth factor (TGF)-β1 by epithelial cells, which then promoted the expression of THBS1 in fibroblasts. Furthermore, human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs)were incorporated into the FAO to mimic the vascularized component. Overexpression of THBS1 in fibroblasts drastically suppressed the sprouting ability of endothelial cells in vascularized FAOs (v FAOs). Consistently, treatment with arecoline reduced the expression of CD31in v FAOs, and this effect was attenuated when the endothelial cells were preincubated with neutralizing antibody of CD36, a receptor of THBS1. Finally, in an arecoline-induced rat OSF model, THBS1 inhibition alleviated collagen deposition and the decline in vascularity in vivo. Overall, we exploited an assembled organoid model to study OSF pathogenesis and provide a rationale for targeting THBS1.

Safety issue is still a problem nowadays for the large-scale application of lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)in electric vehicles and energy storage *** unsafe behaviors of LIBs arise from the thermal run-away,which is intrinsically triggered by the overcharging and *** improve the safety of LIBs,various protection strategies based on self-actuating reaction control mechanisms(SRCMs)have been proposed,including redox shuttle,polymerizable monomer additive,potential-sensitive separator,thermal shutdown separator,positive-temperature-coefficient electrode,thermally polymerizable addi-tive,and reversible thermal phase transition *** build-in protection mechanisms,these meth-ods can sensitively detect either the temperature change inside battery or the potential change of the electrode,and spontaneously shut down the electrode reaction at risky conditions,thus preventing the battery from going into thermal *** their advantages in enhancing the intrinsic safety of LIBs,this paper overviews the research progresses of SRCMs after a brief introduction of thermal runaway mechanism and limitations of conventional thermal runaway mitigating *** importantly,the current states and issues,key challenges,and future developing trends of SRCTs are also discussed and outlined from the viewpoint of practical application,aiming at providing insights and guidance for developing more effective SRCMs for LIBs.

A Comparative Study of the Power-law Relationship between the Pulse width and Energy of Precursor and Main Burst

In gamma-ray burst prompt emission,there is still no consistent conclusion if the precursor and main burst share the same *** this paper,we try to study this issue based on the relationship between pulse width and energy of the precursor and main *** systematically search the light curve data observed by Swift/BAT and Fermi/GBM,and find 13 long bursts with well-structured precursors and main *** fitting the precursor light curve of each different energy channel with the Norris function,we find that there is not only a power-law relationship between precursor width and energy,but also a power-law relationship between the ratio of the rising width to the decaying width and *** comparing the relationship between the precursors and the main burst pulses,we find that the distribution of the precursors and the relationship between the power-law indices are roughly the same as those of the main *** addition,it is found that the precursor width distribution as well as the upper limit of the pulse width ratio does not exceed 1 and both are asymmetric,which are also consistent with the main *** indicate that the precursor and the main burst are indistinguishable,and the precursor and the main burst may have the same physical origin.
