Success and safety of endoscopic treatments for concomitant biliary and duodenal malignant stenosis: A review of the literature

Synchronous biliary and duodenal malignant obstruction is a challenging endoscopic scenario in patients affected with ampullary, peri-ampullary, and pancreatic head neoplasia. Surgical bypass is no longer the gold-standard therapy for these patients, as simultaneous endoscopic biliary and duodenal stenting is currently a feasible and widely used technique, with a high technical success in expert hands. in recent years, endoscopic ultrasonography(EUS) has evolved from a diagnostic to a therapeutic procedure, and is now increasingly used to guide biliary drainage, especially in cases of failed endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(ERCP). The advent of lumen-apposing metal stents(LAMS) has expanded EUS therapeutic options, and changed the management of synchronous bilioduodenal stenosis. The most recent literature regarding endoscopic treatments for synchronous biliary and duodenal malignant stenosis has been reviewed to determine the best endoscopic approach, also considering the advent of an interventional EUS approach using LAMS.

BACKGROUND Coronavirus disease 2019(COViD-19)pneumonia with severe septic shock and acute respiratory distress syndrome(ARDS)are critical illnesses for patients following *** immunoglobulin(iViG)plays a role in both immune support and inflammation control,especially in immunocompromised *** case report describes the first successful experience using iViG and pulse steroids to manage this critical condition following lung *** SUMMARY A 65-year-old male patient reported a history of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and poor lung function and received bilateral sequential lung ***,he developed COViD-19 pneumonia,severe septic shock,and *** recovered from this critical condition after empirical antibiotics administration and veno-venous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation,in addition to iViG and pulse *** iViG is a valuable adjunct in managing severe sepsis in lung transplant recipients after COViD-19 *** aim,for the first time,to report the success of such a management approach for COViD-19 ARDS and sepsis in the post-lung transplant *** further investigations,this is a starting point for wider analysis of such an approach in this setting and consequently helps guide clinical practice for such a challenging patient population moving forward.

Classification of Lagrangian Surfaces of Curvatureε in Non-fiat Lorentzian Complex Space Form ■_1~2(4ε)

it is well known that a totally geodesic Lagrangian surface in a Lorentzian complex space form M12（4ε） of constant holomorphic sectional curvature 4s is of constant curvature 6. A natural question is ＂Besides totally geodesic ones how many Lagrangian surfaces of constant curvature εin M12（46） are there？＂ in an earlier paper an answer to this question was obtained for the case e = 0 by chen and Fastenakels. in this paper we provide the answer to this question for the case ε≠0. Our main result states that there exist thirty-five families of Lagrangian surfaces of curvature ε in M12（4ε） with ε ≠ 0. Conversely, every Lagrangian surface of curvature ε≠0 in M12（4ε） is locally congruent to one of the Lagrangian surfaces given by the thirty-five families.

Pancreatic cancer is the second most common abdominal cancer in North America with an estimated 20%resectability at diagnosis,and overall 5-year survival of 5%.Pain is common in pancreatic cancer patients with 70%-80%suffering substantial *** plexus neurolysis(CPN)is a technique that can potentially improve pain control in pancreatic cancer while preventing further escalation of opioid *** is performed by injecting absolute alcohol into the celiac plexus neural network of *** review sets out to explore the current status of CPN in non-resectable pancreatic *** will examine:(1)the efficacy and safety of percutaneous-CPN and endoscopic ultrasound guided-CPN;(2)specific technique modifications including bilateral(vs central)injections and celiac ganglia neurolysis;and(3)the issue of CPN timing,early at pancreatic cancer diagnosis vs traditional late use as salvage therapy.

Realization of energy-saving glass using photonic crystals

This work successfully developed an energy- saving glass with wavelength selectivity. The glass is composed of a SiO2 substrate and two layers of three- dimensional photonic crystals. Each crystal is composed of identical and transparent polystyrene spheres after their self-assembling. The glass then possesses dual photonic band gaps in the near-infrared region to suppress penetration of thermal radiation. Experimental results show that the energy-saving glass decreases temperature increment in a mini-house. Moreover, the temperature after thermal equilibrium is lower than that inside a counterpart using ordinary glass.

Classification of Flat Lagrangian Surfaces in Complex Lorentzian Plane

One of the most fundamental problems in the study of Lagrangian submanifolds from Riemannian geometric point of view is to classify Lagrangian immersions of real space forms into complex space forms. The main purpose of this paper is thus to classify flat Lagrangian surfaces in the Lorentzian complex plane C1^2. Our main result states that there are thirty-eight families of flat Lagrangian surfaces in C1^2. Conversely, every flat Lagrangian surface in C1^2 is locally congruent to one of the thirty-eight families.

Photo-responsive liquid crystalline vitrimer containing oligoanilines

Liquid crystalline vitimers （LC-vitrimers） can be easily processed into complex three-dimensional configurations. in this paper, we present a photo-responsive LC-vitrimer by simply introducing a photo- thermal agent aniline trimer into the LC-vitrimer system. As aniline trimer acts as a curing agent, it can be homogeneously dispersed in the material, avoiding aggregation which commonly happens to nano- fillers. As a result, the resultant polymer not only can perform three light-controlled functions （welding, healing and shape memory）, but also can be prepared into aligned monodomain LC actuators with strains of about 40%-45%.

Naval derusting wastewater containing high concentration of iron, treated in UV photo-Fenton-like oxidation

The UV photooxidation with Fe（Ⅲ） and H2O2 was employed to treat a naval derusting wastewater, which contains the high COD （chemical oxygen demand） and various metal concentrations exceptionally with high concentrations of citric acid and iron. Because of its iron containment, the Fenton-like reaction automatically took place with the added amount of H2O2. The decomposition rate was found in a sequence of： UV/HEOE/Fe（Ⅲ）〉 UV/H2O2 〉 Fe（Ⅱ）/H2O2. Two H2O2 injection methods, single and multiple points, were evaluated. The multiple-point H2O2 injection was more efficient to decompose the citric acid. The decomposition of the synthetic citric acid and the real derusting citric acid wastewater was also compared. The 93% COD reduction of the derusting wastewater was achieved using the UV/HEOE/Fe（Ⅲ） treatment.
