Prediction of (n, 2n) reaction cross-sections of long-lived fission products based on tensor model

Interest has recently emerged in potential applications of (n, 2n) reactions of unstable nuclei. Challenges have arisen because of the scarcity of experimental cross-sectional data. This study aims to predict the (n, 2n) reaction cross-section of long-lived fission products based on a tensor model. This tensor model is an extension of the collaborative filtering algorithm used for nuclear data. It is based on tensor decomposition and completion to predict (n, 2n) reaction cross-sections; the corresponding EXFOR data are applied as training data. The reliability of the proposed tensor model was validated by comparing the calculations with data from EXFOR and different databases. Inhibitory effects of miRNA-200c on chemotherapy-resistance and cell proliferation of gastric cancer SGC7901/DDP cells

Background and Objective: miRNA-200c can not only inhibit the aggressiveness of cancer cells but also increase the sensitivity of cells to antitumor drugs. However, some mechanisms are still unclear. Recent researches revealed that E-cadherin is more than an inhibitor of metastasis, and it also plays important roles in reversing drug resistance. We had previously found that miRNA-200c could not only induce the expression of E-cadherin but also increase the sensitivity of gastric cancer SGC7901/DDP cells to cisplatin (DDP). This study aimed to explore the effects of miRNA-200c on biological characteristics of SGC7901/DDP cells and the roles of E-cadherin in the regulatory pathway of miRNA-200c. Methods: SGC7901/DDP cells and its parental cell line SGC7901 cells were transfected with miRNA-200c precursor (Pre-200c) and E-cadherin siRNA, respectively. Real-time RT-PCR was used to detect miRNA-200c expression after transfection with Pre-200c in SGC7901/DDP cell line. Drug sensitivities to DDP, 5-fluorouracil (5-FU), paclitaxel, and adriamycin (ADR) after transfection were tested using MTT assay. The proliferation of SGC7901/DDP cells was also detected after transfection. The protein changes of E-cadherin, Bax, and Bcl-2 after transfection were detected by Western blot. Results: The miRNA-200c expression in SGC7901/DDP cells after transfection of Pre-200c was 7.128 ± 0.159 times of that in negative control (P < 0.05). The IC50 of DDP, 5-FU, paclitaxel, and ADR in Pre-200c-transfected group were significantly lower than that in negative control group (P < 0.05). Compared to the control group, cell proliferation was significantly decreased (P < 0.05). The relative protein expressions of E-cadherin and Bax in Pre-200c-transfected group were significantly higher than those in negative control group (P < 0.05), whereas Bcl-2 was significantly lower than that in control (P < 0.05). Parameter selection for the hydroconversion of waste polyethylene plastic under mild conditions: A comprehensive evaluation

The hydrogenolysis/hydrocracking of waste polyethylene(PE) has recently been intensively studied, with the general pursuit of low-temperature reaction conditions, increased oil-phase yield, and narrower carbon chain distribution. Before this, we utilized a ball-milled ZSM-22 catalyst loaded with Ru nanoparticles(NPs), which exhibited excellent hydroconversion performance. It deconstructed PE into >80 wt.% oil products under low temperatures and short reaction times. Herein, we investigated the influence of varying temperature/pressure parameters on the degree of specific hydrocracking/internal hydrogenolysis/terminal hydrogenolysis reactions. From the comprehensive energy efficiency perspective, including stirring, reaction, and product separation, as well as taking into account the degree of product isomerization and catalyst lifespan, we analyzed the optimization of parameters. This research abandons the notion that lower temperatures are better and proposes a more comprehensive evaluation framework for low-consumption hydroconversion of PE to produce high-value products.

Variable projection algorithms with sparse constraint for separable nonlinear models

Separable nonlinear models are widely used in various fields such as time series analysis, system modeling, and machine learning, due to their flexible structures and ability to capture nonlinear behavior of data. However, identifying the parameters of these models is challenging, especially when sparse models with better interpretability are desired by practitioners. Previous theoretical and practical studies have shown that variable projection (VP) is an efficient method for identifying separable nonlinear models, but these are based on $L_2$ penalty of model parameters, which cannot be directly extended to deal with sparse constraint. Based on the exploration of the structural characteristics of separable models, this paper proposes gradient-based and trust-region-based variable projection algorithms, which mainly solve two key problems: how to eliminate linear parameters under sparse constraint;and how to deal with the coupling relationship between linear and nonlinear parameters in the model. Finally, numerical experiments on synthetic data and real time series data are conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms.

In this study,we reported the discovery and structure-activity relationship analysis of chrysin derivatives as a new class of inhibitors targeting poly(ADP-ribose)polymerase 1(PARP1).Among these derivatives,compound 5d emerged as the most effective chrysin-based inhibitor of PARP1,with an IC50 value of 108 nmol·L^(-1).This compound significantly inhibited the proliferation and migration of breast cancer cell lines HCC-1937 and MDA-MB-436 by inducing DNA ***,5d induced apoptosis and caused an extended G1/S-phase in these cell *** docking studies revealed that 5d possesses a strong binding affinity toward *** vivo,in a xenograft model,5d effectively reduced tumor growth by downregulating PARP1 ***,compound 5d shows promise as a potential therapeutic agent for the treatment of BRCA wild-type breast cancer.

Gravitational wave fluxes on generic orbits in near-extreme Kerr spacetime:Higher spin and large eccentricity

To accurately obtain the waveform template of gravitational waves, substantial computational resources and extremely high precision are often required. In a previous study, we employed the confluent Heun function to obtain an exact solution to the Teukolsky equation. This approach allowed us to efficiently and accurately calculate the gravitational wave flux for a particle in circular orbits around a Schwarzschild black hole. Building on this method, we now extend its application to calculate the asymptotic gravitational wave fluxes from a particle in generic orbits around a near-extreme Kerr black hole. Our extended method proves particularly effective in handling computational challenges associated with large eccentricities(e = 0.9), higher spins(a = 0.999), higher harmonic modes, and strong-field regions. The results we obtained significantly outperform those derived from the numerical integration method based on the Mano-Suzuki-Takasugi method.

We investigate the equation of motion for photons with Weyl corrections in a Kerr black hole spacetime in a small coupling *** results show that Weyl corrections yield phenomena of *** light rays propagating in the spacetime are separated into the ordinary rays and the extraordinary rays,and the propagation of the latter depends on the *** probe the effects of Weyl corrections on the Kerr black hole shadows casted by the extraordinary rays and find that such corrections result in a weak stretching or squeezing in the vertical direction for the black hole ***,we also study the change of the length of the Near-Horizon Extremal Kerr line(NHEK line)with Weyl *** features could help us to understand the electrodynamics with Weyl corrections from black hole shadows.
