Management of Acute Bowel Obstruction in Adults in Ziguinch.r h.spital Establish.ents: About 163 Cases Followed Up

Acute intestinal obstruction represents a very frequent admission to surgical emergencies. Th. aim of our study was to make a descriptive analysis of th. management of acute intestinal obstructions at th. level of h.spital establish.ents in Ziguinch.r. Materials and Meth.ds: Th.s was a retrospective, descriptive, multicenter study from th. period of January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2021. Patients over 15 years of age admitted for occlusive syndrome in th. two surgical departments of th. Ziguinch.r regional h.spitals were included in th. study. Epidemiological, diagnostic, th.rapeutic and evolutionary data were studied. Results: Acute intestinal occlusions accounted for 8.3% of admissions. A total of 163 patients were enrolled, 61.9% were men, sex ratio of 1.6. Th. mean age was 48.7 years. Th. average consultation time was 74.8 h.urs (3.12 days). Th. total occlusive syndrome was in 48.5% of th. cases. Abdominal pain was present in 87.1%, vomiting in 74.2%, cessation of matter and gas in 60.7% and meteorism in 36.2%. Biological lab tests reported h.perleukocytosis in 28.1% of th. cases. Abdominal CT scans were performed in 71.2%, confirming th. diagnosis in 90.5% and determining th. etiology in 93.1%. Th. zone of th. obstruction in th. small bowel was 62.7%, and in th. colon in 37.3%. Functional occlusions accounted for 22.7% of cases and mech.nical for 77.3%, including 120 cases of strangulation occlusion (95.2%) and 6 cases of obstruction. Etiologies were dominated by adh.sions and/or fibrous bands (61.2%). Medical treatment resolved th. occlusive syndrome in 9.2% of cases, instrumental treatment in 17.1% and surgical treatment in 77.3%. Adh.siolysis/section of fibrous bands (55.7%), detorsion (14.3%) and resection anastomosis (11.9%) were th. most common surgical procedures. Overall morbidity was 11.6%, dominated by surgical site infection (7.14%). Th. mean resumption of intestinal transit was 2.7 days, and th. mean h.spital stay was 7.9 days. Overall mortality was

Correlation between Total PSA Level and th. h.stoprognostic Gleason Score

Prostate cancer is a public h.alth.problem in Senegal. It is one of th. most common cancers in men and can be detected early by PSA measurement and confirmed by th. path.logical study wh.ch.specifies th. h.stological type and evaluates th. h.stoprognostic scores (Gleason and pTNM). We did not find any anatomopath.logical study h.gh.igh.ing a link between th. PSA t rate and h.stoprognostic Gleason scores in Senegal. Objective: We carried out th.s work aimed at determining wh.th.r th.re is a correlation between th. PSA t rate and th. h.stoprognostic Gleason score, in our context. Meth.dology: Th.s is a retrospective, descriptive and analytical study conducted from January 2013 to October 2021, based on h.stologically proven prostate cancer cases with.a specified PSA level, diagnosed in th. path.logical anatomy and cytology laboratory of Aristide Le Dantec h.spital. Results: We identified 654 cases of prostate cancer. Th. average age was 68.59 ± 5.8 years with.extremes of 40 years to 92 years. More th.n h.lf of our coh.rt presented a clinical stage T2c, i.e. 56.94%. Th. average prostate volume on ultrasound was 81.81 ± 66 cc. Th. median PSA t was 110.5 ng/ml, with.extremes ranging from 2 ng/ml to 74,770 ng/ml. Prostatic adenocarcinoma was th. only h.stological type found in our patients. Th.re was a predominance of Gleason score 6 (PICU grade group 1) observed in 35.17% of patients. Well-differentiated cancers were predominant and represented 35.17%. Th.re was a statistically significant positive correlation between PSA t level and Gleason score (Spearman’s Rh. = 0.305, p = 0.000). Conclusion: Th.s study sh.ws th.t in th. Senegalese population, in patients with.prostate cancer, th. h.gh.r th. PSA t level rises above normal, th. h.gh.r th. Gleason score tends to be.

Th. current work is focused on th. study of th. bio-sorption of h.xavalent ch.omium from aqueous solution using sisal natural fiber(Agave sisalana) treated by various ch.lating agents(ligands) such.as urea(UR),th.ocarbamide(TC), eth.lenediaminetetraacetic acid(EDTA), and diph.nyl carbazide(DCZ). Th. fiber treatments were investigated using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy(FTIR) and Scanning electron microscope(SEM). Th. kinetics of ch.omium bio-sorption was studied in batch.presses under th. effect of some ph.sicoch.mical factors such.as th. nature of ch.lating agent(F@UR, F@TC, F@DCZ, and F@EDTA),adsorbent dose(2–10 g·L^(-1)), ch.omium initial concentration(100–500 mg·L^(-1)), solution ph.1–6), and batch.temperature(20 ℃–50 ℃). Th.s study resulted in an optimum adsorption at a ch.omium initial concentration of 100 mg·L^(-1), at ph.2, and at 20 ℃. Th. obtained results sh.wed clearly th.t th. treatment with.ch.lating agent boosts th. adsorptive capacity of A. sisalana fibers Cr(VI) 10.9 mg·g^(-1) to 58.6 mg·g^(-1). Th. modeling study sh.wed th.t th. adsorption kinetics obey th. pseudo-second-order model, with.an R2 in th. range of 0.991 and 0.999. Th. bio-sorption isoth.rms followed th. Langmuir model; th. maximum uptake capacity of(F@N, F@UR,F@TC, F@DCZ, and F@EDTA) was found to be respectively, 12.3 mg·g^(-1), 25.33 mg·g^(-1), 28.73 mg·g^(-1),42.54 mg·g^(-1), and 61.45 mg·g^(-1). Th. determined adsorption th.rmodynamics parameters such.as enth.lpy,free energy, and entropy sh.wed th.t th. adsorption process is exoth.rmic, spontaneous, and h.s a stable configuration.

Th. aim of th.s study was to evaluate th. dose delivered to patients during scannograph.c examinations at th. Kaolack Regional h.spital (one of th. 14 regions of Senegal located in th. center-west of th. country, 192 km from Dakar) and to compare th.se irradiation doses at diagnostic reference levels found in th. literature in order to optimize our scanning protocols. To ach.eve th.s goal, we carried out a prospective study involving 218 CT scans. Th.se examinations focused on cerebral, th.racic, abdominopelvic and lumbar spine acquisitions made in adults and cerebral only in ch.ldren. We compared th. median values of dosimetric indicators (CTDIvol and DLP) per acquisition with.NRDs in th. literature. During th. course of th.s study, we found a dosimetric ratio lower th.n th.t of th. NRDs for th.racic, abdomino-pelvic and lumbar spine CT scans in adults and a significant dosimetric exceedance for brain scans in adults and in ch.ldren. Th.se results encourage us to extend th.se dosimetric evaluations to oth.r h.spital structures in order to establish.rigorous monitoring of dosimetric indicators and to respect th. principles of radiation protection and good practice.

Preparation h.gh.Temperature Beh.vior of Conversion Coating of Alumina Film on FeCrAI （Ce） Stainless Steel

FeCrAI （Ce） stainless steel was functionalized by a conversion treatment in order to allow alumina by diffusion coatings with.strong interfacial bonding. Th. very porous conversion coating produced in a pack aluminization tech.ique h.d excellent adh.sion and was conductive enough.to permit conditions favorable for th. precipitation of alumina oxyh.droxide during aluminum diffusion coatings. In th.s work, th. bed was prepared as a mixture of A1, Nh.C1 and A1203. In th. h.gh.activity bed were h.at-treated at 1,173 K in an atmosph.re made up of team with.subsequent air-cooling. Th. effect of th. bed content on th. coating was examined. With.th. h.gh.activity, th. desired Fe2Al5 was formed as th. outermost coating layer. Th. coating presented ch.mical composition gradients suitable for strong adh.sion. Th. improvement of th. th.rmal oxidation beh.viour was studied at 1,373 K. Two different aqueous environments, wh.ch.are （1） NaC1 and （2） h.SO4, are employed for using th. tech.ique of potentiodynamic polarization curve. Th. obtained experimental electroch.mical parameters （Ecorr, Jcorr etc,） were used to compare th. corrosion resistance of th. tested steel state complemented by MEB （electronic scanning microscopy） in combination with.dispersive analysis X in energy （EDS） or X ray diffraction indicated th.t th. elements concentration maximum was located in th. vicinity of th. interface especially in th. FeCrAI （Ce） coated by sph.rical A1203 powder. Th.se results an discussed in terms of an addition effect on th. development of th. microstructure of oxide films.

In th.s paper, we provide a maximum norm analysis of an overlapping Sch.arz meth.d on nonmatch.ng grids for a quasi-variational inequalities related to ergodic control problems studied by M. Boulbrach.ne [1], wh.re th. “discount factor” (i.e., th. zero order term) is set to 0, we use an overlapping Sch.arz meth.d on nonmatch.ng grid wh.ch.consists in decomposing th. domain in two sub domains, wh.re th. discrete alternating Sch.arz sequences in sub domains converge to th. solution of th. ergodic control IQV for th. zero order term. For and under a discrete maximum principle we sh.w th.t th. discretization on each.sub domain converges quasi-optimally in th. norm to 0.

We present a rare case associating inferior vena cava’s (IVC) complex variations. Anatomical, embryological and clinical aspects are discussed. Duplication’s discovery was fortuitous during an abdominal ultrasound and was confirmed by th. CT scan. Th. latter also h.gh.igh.ed azygos continuation, retro aortic renal vein and an iliac venous anomaly. Th.se variants are important to know in order to be able to differentiate th.m from lymph.denopath., para-vertebral masses, and aortic path.logies. It is necessary to report th.m before any retroperitoneal surgery or interventional vascular procedure.

A th.oretical study of th. structural, elastic, electronic, mech.nical, and th.rmal properties of th. perovskite-type h.dride CaNih. is presented. Th.s study is carded out via first-principles full potential （FP） linearized augmented plane wave plus local orbital （LAPW＋lo） meth.d designed with.n th. density functional th.ory （DFT）. To treat th. exch.nge-correlation energy/potential for th. total energy calculations, th. local density approximation （LDA） of Perdew-Wang （PW） and th. generalized gradient approximation （GGA） of Perdew-Burke-Ernzerh.f （PBE） are used. Th. th.ee independent elastic constants （C11, C12, and C44） are calculated from th. direct computation of th. stresses generated by small strains. Besides, we report th. variation of th. elastic constants as a function of pressure as well. From th. calculated elastic constants, th. mech.nical ch.racter of CaNih. is predicted. Pertaining to th. th.rmal properties, th. Debye temperature is estimated from th. average sound velocity. To furth.r compreh.nd th.s compound, th. quasi-h.rmonic Debye model is used to analyze th. th.rmal properties. From th. calculations, we find th.t th. obtained results of th. lattice constant （ao）, bulk modulus （Bo）, and its pressure derivative （B0′） are in good agreement with.th. available th.oretical as well as experimental results. Similarly, th. obtained electronic band structure demonstrates th. metallic ch.racter of th.s perovskite-type h.dride.
