Electricity demand is also known as load in electric power system.This article presents a Long-Term Load Forecasting(LTLF)approach for Malaysia.An Artificial Neural Network(ANN)of 5-layer Multi-Layered Perceptron(MLP)structure has been designed and tested for this purpose.Uncertainties of input variables and ANN model were introduced to obtain the prediction for years 2022 to 2030.Pearson correlation was used to examine the input variables for model construction.The analysis indicates that Primary Energy Supply(PES),population,Gross Domestic Product(GDP)and temperature are strongly correlated.The forecast results by the proposed method(henceforth referred to as UQ-SNN)were compared with the results obtained by a conventional Seasonal Auto-Regressive Integrated Moving Average(SARIMA)model.The R^(2)scores for UQ-SNN and SARIMA are 0.9994 and 0.9787,respectively,indicating that UQ-SNN is more accurate in capturing the non-linearity and the underlying relationships between the input and output variables.The proposed method can be easily extended to include other input variables to increase the model complexity and is suitable for LTLF.With the available input data,UQ-SNN predicts Malaysia will consume 207.22 TWh of electricity,with standard deviation(SD)of 6.10 TWh by 2030.

The earth-abundant and high-performance catalysts are crucial for commercial implementation of hydrogen evolution reaction(HER).Herein,a multifunctional site strategy to construct excellent HER catalysts by incorporating iridium(Ir)ions on the atomic scale into orthorhombic-CoSe2(Ir-CoSe_(2))was reported.Outstanding hydrogen evolution activity in alkaline media such as a low overpotential of 48.7 mV at a current density of 10 mA cm^(-2)and better performance than commercial Pt/C catalysts at high current densities were found in the Ir-CoSe_(2) samples.In the experiments and theoretical calculations,it was revealed that Ir enabled CoSe_(2)to form multifunctional sites to synergistically catalyze alkaline HER by promoting the adsorption and dissociation of H_(2)O(Ir sites)and optimizing the binding energy for H^(*)on Co sites.It was noticeable that the electrolytic system comprising the Ir-CoSe_(2)electrode not only produced hydrogen efficiently via HER,but also degraded organic pollutants(Methylene blue).The cell voltage of the dual-function electrolytic system was 1.58 V at the benchmark current density of 50 mA cm^(-2),which was significantly lower than the conventional water splitting voltage.It was indicated that this method was a novel strategy for designing advanced HER electrocatalysts by constructing multifunctional catalytic sites for hydrogen production and organic degradation.

This work presents a mapping and tracking system based on images to enable a small Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV)to accurately navigate in indoor and GPS-denied outdoor environments.A method is proposed to estimate the UAV’s pose(i.e.,the 3D position and orientation of the camera sensor)in real-time using only the on-board RGB camera as the UAV travels through a known 3D environment(i.e.,a 3D CAD model).Linear features are extracted and automatically matched between images collected by the UAV’s onboard RGB camera and the 3D object model.The matched lines from the 3D model serve as ground control to estimate the camera pose in real-time via line-based space resection.The results demonstrate that the proposed modelbased pose estimation algorithm provides sub-meter positioning accuracies in both indoor and outdoor environments.It is also that shown the proposed method can provide sparse updates to correct the drift from complementary simultaneous localization and mapping(SLAM)-derived pose estimates.

Background Freehand transperineal prostate biopsy(TPPBx)using a coaxial needle technique offers an alternative to probe-mounted freehand or template-guided techniques in the diagnosis of prostate cancer(PCa).It only requires the same equipment used for transrectal ultrasound-guided(TRUS)biopsy.Our study is the first in Malaysia to report this experience and its outcomes.We aim to determine PCa detection rate and pain tolerability of freehand TPPBx utilizing a coaxial needle under local anesthesia(LA).Methods Institutional review board approval was obtained from National Medical Research Register(NMRR ID-21-02052-VIL).We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of patients who underwent TPPBx between August 2020 and April 2022.Records were reviewed for patients’characteristics,prostate volume,prostate-specific antigen(PSA)results,biopsy results and pain tolerability.Data was analyzed to determine PCa and clinically significant prostate cancer(csPCa)detection rate.LA was achieved using perineal skin infiltration and a periprostatic nerve block.The commonly used standard side-firing transrectal ultrasound with its Prostate Biplane Transducer was used as an imaging guide.The principles of the Ginsburg protocol were followed.Pain tolerability was assessed using a visual analog scale.Results A total of 55 patients with elevated PSA levels underwent freehand TPPBx under LA.The mean age was 67.3 years,the median PSA was 14.2 ng/mL,and the median PSA density(PSAD)was 0.33 ng/mL/cc.The optimal PSAD cutoff for predicting csPCa was 0.35 ng/mL/cc(area under the curve[AUC],0.792;sensitivity,87.5%;specificity,69.2%).PCa was detected in 24 patients(43.6%),of whom 16(29.1%)had csPCa.The median pain scores during LA infiltration and biopsy were four and two,respectively,which were significant different(P<0.05).TPPBx exhibited an infection rate of zero.Conclusion The PCa detection rate and patient tolerability of freehand TPPBx using a coaxial needle are similar to those of a contemporary published series.The use of existing eq

In recent years,renewable energy sources,specifically solar power systems,have developed rapidly owing to their technological maturity and cost effectiveness.However,its grid integration deteriorates frequency stability because of insufficient rotating masses and inertial response.Hence,a synchronverter,which is an inverter that mimics the operation of a synchronous generator,is crucial to interface solar power in a power grid.It stabilizes the power grid by emulating a virtual inertia.However,a conventional proportional-integral(PI)-based synchronverter is not equipped with an adaptive damping factor(Dp)or a digitalized smart controller to manage fast-responding solar inputs.Hence,a novel fuzzy logic controller(FLC)framework is proposed such that the synchronverter can operate in a grid-connected solar power system.In this study,Dp is controlled in real time using an FLC to achieve balance between speed and stability for frequency error correction based on frequency difference.Results of four case studies performed in Matlab/Simulink show that the proposed FLC-based synchronverter can stabilize the grid frequency by reducing the frequency deviation by at least 0.2 Hz(0.4%),as compared with the conventional PI-based synchronverter.

Background:Barcelona clinic liver cancer(BCLC)stage B(intermediate stage)hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is highly heterogeneous;thus,identifying the most effective treatment for individual patients represents a significant clinical challenge.However,transarterial chemoembolization(TACE)is the only recommended treatment option.Therefore,we aimed to investigate the patient characteristics and outcomes of living donor liver transplantation(LDLT)for BCLC stage B HCC.Methods:A total of 516 patients with BCLC stage B HCC who underwent LDLT(n=104)or did not undergo LDLT(non-LDLT;n=412)between 2004 to 2018 were analyzed by propensity score matching(PSM;1:4)analysis.Factors influencing overall survival(OS)and recurrence were analyzed using Cox’s proportional hazards models.Results:Patients treated with LDLT achieved better OS than the non-LDLT group,including liver-and non-liver related survival(all P60 years(P=0.006),a neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio(NLR)>4(P=0.016)and>3 locoregional therapies(LRT)before LDLT(P60 years(P3 LRT before LDLT(P=0.001)were independent risk factors for OS.Using a combination of age,NLR,and LRT before liver transplantation(LT),the patients can be divided into low-risk(none of risk),intermediate-risk(one of risk),and high risk(more than two of risk)groups.There were significant differences in the cumulative HCC recurrence(P<0.001)and mortality(P<0.001)rates among the three groups.Conclusions:LDLT may represent a valuable therapeutic option for selected patients with BCLC stage B HCC.

AIM:To investigate how a complex network of CC chemokine ligands(CCLs) and their receptors influence the progression of tumor and metastasis.METHODS:In the present study,we used immunohistochemistry to examine the expression of CCL7,CCL8 and CCL21 in 194 gastric cancer samples and adjacent normal tissues.We analyzed their correlation with tumor metastasis,clinicopathologic parameters and clinical outcome.RESULTS:We found that the higher expression of CCL7 and CCL21 in cancer tissues than in normal tissues was significantly correlated with advanced depth of wall invasion,lymph node metastasis and higher tumor node metastasis stage.Moreover,Kaplan-Meier survival analysis revealed that CCL7 and CCL21 overexpression in cancer tissues was correlated with poor prognosis.CONCLUSION:These results suggest that overexpression of these two CC chemokine ligands is associated with tumor metastasis and serves as a prognostic factor in patients with gastric cancer.

AIM:To explore the value of fecal lactoferrin in predicting and monitoring the clinical severity of infectious diarrhea.METHODS:Patients with acute infectious diarrhea ranging from 3 mo to 10 years in age were enrolled,and one to three stool samples from each subject were collected.Certain parameters,including white blood cells /differential count,C-reactive protein,fecal mucus,fecal pus cells,duration of fever,vomiting,diarrhea and severity(indicated by Clark and Vesikari scores),were recorded and analyzed.Fecal lactoferrin was determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and compared in different pathogen and disease activity.Generalized estimating equations(GEE) were also used for analysis.RESULTS:Data included 226 evaluations for 117 individuals across three different time points.Fecal lactoferrin was higher in patients with Salmonella(11.17 μg/g ± 2.73 μg/g) or Campylobacter(10.32 μg/g ± 2.94 μg/g) infections and lower in patients with rotavirus(2.82 μg/g ± 1.27 μg/g) or norovirus(3.16 μg/g ± 1.18 μg/g) infections.Concentrations of fecal lactoferrin were significantly elevated in patients with severe(11.32 μg/g ± 3.29 μg/g) or moderate(3.77 μg/g ± 2.08 μg/g) disease activity compared with subjects with mild(1.51 μg/g ± 1.36 μg/g) disease activity(P < 0.05).GEE analysis suggests that this marker could be used to monitor the severity and course of gastrointestinal infections and may provide information for disease management.CONCLUSION:Fecal lactoferrin increased during bacterial infection and with greater disease severity and may be a good marker for predicting and monitoring intestinal inflammation in children with infectious diarrhea.
