Hybrid Bio-based Composites from Waste Chicken Feather and Betel Nut Fiber: A Study on the Mechanical and Thermal Properties

The present work is an attempt to develop bio-based hybrid composites by incorporating Betel nut Fiber(BF)and Chicken feather Fiber(CF)at different ratios in modified soybean oil matrix by compression molding *** ratio of the fiber and resin was taken as 30:*** soybean oil(ESO)was modified by using methacrylic acid and methacrylic *** ratio of CF and BF was varied from 2:1 to 1:2 *** influence of hybrid fibers and fiber ratio on various properties of the composites was *** obtained results showed that composites prepared with 1:1 ratio of CF and BF exhibited highest tensile strength compared to the other composites prepared by using different ratios of CF and *** surface morphology of the composites was studied by Scanning Electron Microscopy(SEM),where surface roughness was found to be decreased after incorporation of hybrid *** analysis was carried out to study the behaviour of the composites at high temperature,where thermal stability was found to enhance for hybrid composites compared to the composites prepared with single *** properties like water vapour uptake capacity and volumetric swelling were measured and found to be decreased for the hybrid *** overall improvement in properties was observed for composites having 1:1 ratio of CF:***,it is concluded that 1:1 weight ratio of CF and BF is the optimum mixing ratio to enhance the various properties of the hybrid composites.

Effect of size and position of gold nanocrystals embedded in gate oxide of SiO_(2)/Si MOS structures

The influence of single and double layered gold(Au)nanocrystals(NC),embedded in SiO_(2) matrix,on the electrical characteristics of metal–oxide–semiconductor(MOS)structures is reported in this *** size and position of the NCs are varied and study is made using Sentaurus TCAD simulation *** a single NC-layered MOS structure,the role of NCs is more prominent when they are placed closer to SiO_(2)/Si-substrate interface than to SiO_(2)/Al–gate *** MOS structures with larger NC dots and double layered NCs,the charge storage capacity is increased due to charging of the dielectric in the presence of *** breakdown voltage and smaller leakage current are also obtained in the case of dual NC-layered MOS device.A new phenomenon of smearing out of the capacitance–voltage curve is observed in the presence of dual NC layer indicating generation of interface *** internal electric field developed between these two charged NC layers is expected to generate such interface traps at the SiO_(2)/Si interface.

Surveying the genomic landscape of silage-quality traits in maize(Zea mays L.)

Despite the longstanding importance of silage as a critical feed source for ruminants,its quality improvement has been largely *** numerous quantitative trait loci(QTL)and genes affecting silage quality in maize have been reported,only a few have been effectively incorporated into breeding *** this gap,the present study undertook a comprehensive meta-QTL(MQTL)analysis involving 523 QTL associated with silage-quality traits collected from 14 published *** the 523 QTL,405 were projected onto a consensus map comprising 62,424 genetic markers,resulting in the identification of 60 MQTL and eight *** average confidence interval(CI)of the MQTL was 3.9-fold smaller than that of the source *** of the 60 identified MQTL were classified as breeder’s MQTL owing to their small CIs,involvement of more QTL,and large contribution to phenotypic ***-third of the MQTL co-localized with DNA marker-trait associations identified in previous genomewide association mapping studies.A set of 78 high-confidence candidate genes influencing silage quality were identified in the MQTL *** genes and associated markers may advance marker-assisted breeding for maize silage quality.

Petrofacies Evolution of Bayana Basin Sandstones of Mesoproterozoic Delhi Supergroup, Bharatpur District, Rajasthan, Northwestern India

The paper embodies results of petrofacies, detrital mineralogy and textural aspects of Bayana Basin sandstones of the Delhi Supergroup. These sandstones consisting of various types of quartz, feldspar, mica, rock fragments and heavy minerals are medium to fine grained and moderately well sorted. These sediments are generally subangular to subrounded with low sphericity. Various factors responsible for modification of the original detrital composition of the sandstones have been critically examined. Distance of transport is one of the factors which control the composition at the time of deposition. The plots of petrofacies in QtnFnL, QmnFnLt, QpnLvnLs and QmnPnK ternary diagrams suggest mainly basement uplift source (Craton interior) in a rifted continental margin basin setting, which has also received sediment input from recycled orogen provenance.
