The air change rate(ACR)of naturally ventilated dairy buildings(NVDBs)plays an important part in the design and control of the ventilation system,as well as in the estimation of the gaseous emission *** objectives of this research were to model the ACR based on a quantitative investigation of the relationship between the ACR and its potential influencing factors,including the opening ratio(r),the building length to width ratio(a),the wind speed(U),and the wind direction(0).The investigations were performed using the response surface methodology integrated with the Box-Behnken design and Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD)*** response surface models of the ACR of NVDBs were established for three opening ratio ranges of 5%-42.5%,42.5%-80%,and 5%-80%,*** was found that the selection of the opening ratio range had almost no effect on the developed response surface *** results showed that the ACR of NVDBs was not influenced by a,but was significantly affected by r,U,6,and interaction effects between every two of the three *** highest ACR was 6.7 s^(-1),6.0 s^(-1),and 4.0 s^(-1)when 0,U,and r was at their respective medium value while the rest parameters were at the highest values,indicating that the r played an important role in the value of *** was concluded that in the prediction of the ACR of a building,the influences of both individual and interactional effects of 0,U,and r should be considered.

Fresh and hardened properties of high-strength concrete incorporating byproduct fine crushed aggregate as partial replacement of natural sand

This paper presents the fresh and hardened properties of high-strength concrete comprising byproduct fine crushed aggregates(FCAs)sourced from the crushing of three different types of rocks,namely granophyre,basalt,and *** lowest void contents of the combined fine aggregates were observed when 40%to 60%of natural sand is replaced by the *** the replacement of 40%FCAs,the slump and bleeding of concrete with a water-to-cement ratio of 0.45 decreased by approximately 15%and 50%,respectively,owing to the relatively high fines content of the *** 28 d compressive strength of concrete was 50 MPa when 40%FCAs were *** slight decrease in tensile strength from the FCAs is attributed to the flakiness of the *** correlations between the splitting tensile and compressive strengths of normal concrete provided in the AS 3600 and ACI 318 design standards are applicable for concrete using the FCAs as partial replacement of *** maximum 56 d drying shrinkage is 520 microstrains,which is significantly less than the recommended limit of 1000 microstrains by AS 3600 for ***,the use of these byproduct FCAs can be considered as a sustainable alternative option for the production of high-strength green concrete.

Solution processed high performance perovskite quantum dots/ZnO phototransistors

Phototransistors that can detect visible light have been fabricated using solution processed zinc oxide channel/zirconium oxide gate insulator thin film transistors(TFTs)and room temperature synthesized perovskite quantum dots(PeQDs)as active *** ZnO thin film transistors did not show a photocurrent under visible light ***,ZnO TFTs decorated with PeQDs exhibited enhanced photocurrent upon exposure to visible *** device had a responsivity of 567 A/W(617 A/W),a high detectivity of 6.59×10^(13)Jones(1.85×10^(14)J)and a high sensitivity of 10^(7)(10^(8))under green(blue)light at a low drain voltage of 0.1 *** high photo-responsivity and detectivity under green light resulted from the combination of short ligands in the QDs films and the high mobility of the spray coated ZnO *** results are relevant for the development of low cost and low energy consumption phototransistors working in the visible range.

Comparative evaluation of the medicinal activities of methanolic extract of seeds,fruit pulps and fresh juice of Syzygium cumini in vitro

Objective:To establish the health benefits of Syzgium cumin to discover functional components present in the seeds,fruit pulps and fresh juice of this fruit grown in ***:Thin layer chromatography and ultra-violet spectroscopy were used to detect the presence of various types of compound in seeds and *** effects were measured by DPPH scavenging assay and total reducing *** binding activities was performed by hemagglutination inhibition ***-inflammatory assay and hydrogen peroxide induced hemolysis assay was also *** diffusion assay was performed to show the antibacterial effect using Gram positive,Gram negative strains of bacteria and ***:Methanolic extract of the seeds showed stronger antioxidant,hydrogen peroxide induced hemolysis activities,hemagglutination inhibition activities and membrane stabilization activities than those of fresh ***,fresh juice showed stronger antibacterial and antifungal activities than those of methanolic seed *** seed contains higher amount of polyphenols and flavanoids than those of fruit ***:Therefore,fruit juice,fruit pulp and seed of Syzygium cumini contain medicinal active components in different ratios.

Phytochemical screening and in vitro bioactivities of the extracts of aerial part of Boerhavia diffusa Linn.

Objective:To investigate the bioactivities of crude n-hexane,ethyl acetate and methanol extracts of aerial part of Boerhavia diffusa Linn.(***) and its phytochemical ***: the identification of phyloconstituents and assay of antioxidant,thrombolytic,cytotoxic, antimicrobial activities were conducted using specific standard in vitro ***:The results showed that the plant extracts were a rich source of *** extract showed higher antioxidant,thrombolytic activity and less cytotoxic activity than those of n-hexane and ethyl acetate extracts of A *** the bioactivities,antioxidant activity was the most notable compared to the positive control and thus could be a potential rich source of natural *** case of antimicrobial screening,crude extracts of the plant showed remarkable antibacterial activity against tested *** the extracts showed significant inhibitory activity against Candida albicuns,at a concentration of 1000 μg/***:The present findings suggest that,the plant widely available in Bangladesh,could be a prominent source of medicinally important natural compounds.
