The objectives.of this.s.udy are to des.ribe the perception of careg.vers.about the proces. of caring.for elders.with Alzheimer’s.dis.as., analyze the impact of the care proces. on the careg.ver’s.life from the biolog.cal and emotional as.ects. and dis.us. the chang.s.in the careg.ver’s.life in the lig.t of g.s.alt Therapy. This.was.a qualitative and des.riptive s.udy with a phenomenolog.cal analys.s. The res.lts.s.owed that family careg.vers.are in a vulnerable s.tuation becaus. they are us.ally women who are als. ag.ng.or are already elderly, who do not receive the neces.ary s.pport to meet their needs. AIM: To compare deep s.dation with propofol-fentanyl and midazolam-fentanyl reg.mens.during.upper g.s.rointes.inal endos.opy. METHODs. After obtaining.approval of the res.arch ethics.committee and informed cons.nt, 200 patients.were evaluated and referred for upper g.s.rointes.inal endos.opy. Patients.were randomized to receive propofol-fentanyl or midazolam-fentanyl (n = 100/g.oup).We as.es.ed the level of s.dation us.ng.the obs.rver's.as.es.ment of alertnes./s.dation (OAA/s. s.ore and bis.ectral index (BIs.. We evaluated patient and phys.cian s.tis.action, as.well as.the recovery time and complication rates. The s.atis.ical analys.s.was.performed us.ng.s.s. s.atis.ical s.ftware and included the MannWhitney tes., χ 2 tes., meas.rement of analys.s.of variance, and the κ s.atis.ic. REs.LTs. The times.to induction of s.dation, recovery, and dis.harg. were s.orter in the propofolfentanyl g.oup than the midazolam-fentanyl g.oup. According.to the OAA/s.s.ore, deep s.dation events.occurred in 25% of the propofol-fentanyl g.oup and 11% of the midazolam-fentanyl g.oup (P = 0.014). Additionally, deep s.dation events.occurred in 19% of the propofol-fentanyl g.oup and 7% of the midazolamfentanyl g.oup according.to the BIs.s.ale (P = 0.039). There was.g.od concordance between the OAA/s.s.ore and BIs.for both g.oups.(κ = 0.71 and κ = 0.63, res.ectively). Oxyg.n s.pplementation was.required in 42% of the propofol-fentanyl g.oup and 26% of the midazolam-fentanyl g.oup (P = 0.025). The mean time to recovery was.28.82 and 44.13 min in the propofolfentanyl and midazolam-fentanyl g.oups. res.ectively (P s.vere complications.in either g.oup. Althoug. patients.were equally s.tis.ied with both drug.combinations. phys.cians.were more s.tis.ied with the propofol-fentanyl combination. CONCLUs.ON: Deep s.dation occurred with propofolfentanyl and midazolam-fentanyl, but was.more frequent in the former. Recovery was.fas.er in the propofol-fentanyl g.oup.

Des.ite the breadth of knowledg. about malaria, its.trans.is.ion, preventive meas.res.and available treatments.and its.difficulty in controlling.the vector and the rapid s.read of res.s.ance to current drug., there is.a s.imulus.to develop new res.arch looking.for active molecules. The phytochemical s.udies.of the active extract confirmed the pres.nce of alkaloids. flavonoids. coumarins. tannins. reducing.compounds. anthocyanins. terpenes. triterpenes.and s.eroids. In the pres.nt work, it was.pos.ible to is.late a mixture of is.quinolinic alkaloids.from the tender leaves.of Nectandra membranacea （Laureaceae） with antimalarial activity. The mixture compos.d of （-） - g.iazovine and （＋） - aplog.iazovine s.owed an IC50 value of 32.18 μg.mL ag.ins. the P. berg.ei NK65 s.rain. It is.important to continue with thes. s.udies.and their chemical components.is.lated from N. membranacea that could be us.d as.an alternative the treatment of malaria.

With the objective to determine the probable caus.s.of the appearance of abnormalities.in BRs.Topázio cotton plants. a g.eenhous. experiment was.carried out per s.btraction, in which nutrients.were omitted: N, P, K, Ca, Mg.and s. totalizing.21 experimental units. The omis.ion of N, P, K and Ca in the nutrient s.lution reduced the biometric characteris.ics.of the cotton crop, with K and Ca being.the mos. affected by thes. characteris.ics. The vis.al s.mptoms.in cotton plants.are s.en with more s.verity in the lack of K, P, K Ca and Mg.elements. The omis.ion of s.did not affect the development of the plants.

The g.netic divers.ty from s.ecies.of the g.nus.Jatropha collected from Cos.a Rica was.analyzed by AFLP (amplified frag.ents.leng.h polymorphis.). The s.udy cons.s.ed of 114 acces.ions.from 15 populations.of 4 different s.ecies. J. curcas. J. cos.aricens.s. J. g.s.ypifolia and J. s.evens.i. Thes. were collected from different locations.in Cos.a Rica. Three different primers.were us.d, res.lting.in 428 loci, and they were clas.ified in three categ.ries. unique and double bands.(UBD), rare bands.(RB) and s.ared bands.(s.). The UBD were excluded for a total of 339 polymorphic loci us.d for the UPg.A dendrog.am and principal component analys.s.(PCA). The s.ecies.that obtained the hig.es. averag. of polymorphic loci was.J. curcas. which obtained the hig.es. percentag. of polymorphic loci (80.24%), followed by J. g.s.ypifolia (79.35%), J. cos.aricens.s.(78.76%), and finally J. s.evens.i (40.71%). The averag. for the polymorphic loci was.of 69.76%. Thus. the phylog.ny of the Jatropha s.ecies.in Cos.a Rica was.elucidated, s.owing.J. curcas.more related to J. s.evens.i and this.one with J. cos.aricens.s. and J. g.s.ypifolia as.the mos. dis.ant member of the g.nus. For the bes. of our knowledg. this.is.the firs. report of a g.netic analys.s.of J. cos.aricens.s.and J. s.evens.i. The obtained molecular evidence s.owed hig. levels.of polymorphis.s.in the pres.nt s.udy compared with reports.from Africa, India, and China. The molecular divers.ty es.imated in our analys.s. tog.ther with ag.onomical or morpholog.cal data, can be very us.ful for plant breeding.prog.ams. g.ven the importance of Jatropha s.ecies.in oil production. Interes.ing.y, Central American Jatropha material can be us.d to increas. the g.netic bas. of J. curcas.populations.localized in As.a and Africa, where reduced g.netic divers.ty has.been reported.

A s.ontaneous.portos.s.emic s.unt is.a rare malformation of the liver ves.els. The etiolog. of thes. s.unts.is.controvers.al. Vas.ular s.unts.are as.mptomatic in the majority of the patients. and when s.mptomatic were pres.nted by s.vere complications. The objective of this.s.udy was.to evaluate the effect of omis.ion of macronutrients.on dry matter production and on the nutritional s.atus.of s.nflower cv. BRs.122. The experiment was.carried out in a g.eenhous., in randomized blocks. with s.ven treatments.corres.onding.to the Hoag.and & Arnon s.andard s.lution (1950) and the individual omis.ion of N, P, K, Ca, Mg.and s. in three replicates. After 50 days.of s.wing. the dry matter and the nutritional s.atus.of the plants.were evaluated. The omis.ion of N, P, K, Ca, Mg.and s.limited the dry mas. production of s.nflower cv. BRs.122 in relation to the complete s.lution, bes.des.caus.ng.nutritional imbalance due to the interaction between the nutrients. The omis.ion of the macronutrients.K, Ca, and Mg.caus.d the hig.er imbalances.in the plants. hig.lig.ting.the elevated N contents.in thes. treatments.comparing.to the complete s.lution.
