COCKPIT-PLUs:A proposed method for rapid groundwater vulnerability-driven land use zoning in tropical cockpit karst areas

Karst groundwater is highly vulnerable to contamination,which urges better land use *** paper proposes a new approach,called COCKPIT-PLUs,to minimize groundwater contamination within cockpit karst *** method employed four parameters:P(the existence of ponor/swallow hole),L(lineament density),U(sinking stream to an underground river),and s(distance to spring/pumping site).These parameters are essential for identifying contaminant pathways and transport from the surface to the karst groundwater/***-PLUs has been developed and validated in the Gunungsewu karst in Java,*** research considers a cockpit as a single hydrological unit that uniquely recharges karst *** analyzed 2,811 cockpits and 81 other closed depressions to develop a land use planning *** research used the time to first arrival(Ta),time to peak(Tp),and Q_(max/min)ratio parameters of two karst springs and two underground pumping sites for *** with ponors/swallow holes,sinking streams,high lineament density,and short distances to springs are vulnerable to groundwater and thus must be restricted areas for any land *** findings show that though the COCKPIT-PLUs uses a limited karst dataset,the proposed method seems reliable enough for a rapid land-use zoning approach in cockpit karst areas.

In this research,the tensile properties'performance of compression moulded discontinuous randomized zalacca fibre/high-density polyethylene under critical fibre length was analysed by means of experimental method and micromechanical *** investigations were used to verify the tensile properties models toward the effect of fibre length and volume fraction on the *** experimental results showed that the tensile properties of composites had significantly increased due to the enhancement of fibre *** the contrary,a decline in the tensile properties was observed with the increase of volume fraction.A comparison was made between the available experimental results and the performances of Tsai-Pagano,Christensen and Cox-Krechel models in their prediction of composites elastic *** results showed that the consideration of fibre's elastic anisotropy in the Cox-Krenchel model had yielded a good prediction of the composites modulus,nevertheless the models could not accurately predict the composites modulus for fibre length study.

NLTHA （nonlinear time history analysis） is impractical for widespread used by the professional engineer because it requires long and inefficient computational time involving complexities when six DOF （degree of freedom） per node is applied. The NLTHA nowadays is predicted by MPA （modal pushover analysis）. In this method, effects of higher modes on the dynamic response are considered to estimate seismic demands for structures. In this study, the effect of the reduction of number of DOF is analyzed using 3D NLTHA together with MPA of a rigid connection RC bridge under large earthquake motion. The results are compared with the 6 DOF NLTHA in terms of response of the structure and CPU time to obtain the most efficient computational effort. Result of NLTHA showed that the computational time of the structure both for 4 DOF （without two lateral torsional effects） and 3 DOF （without two lateral torsional and vertical displacements） was reduced significantly compared to the structure using 6 DOF. The reduction of computational time was close to fifty percent both for 4 and 3 DOF＇s. When the maximum responses between NLTHA and MPA are compared, it is found that the differences are insignificant.

Gold ore processing is often ineffective in obtaining gold metal. Various methods have been successfully developed on an industrial scale, but small-scale gold mines are often problematic. The problem of inefficiency of processing is caused by gold ore characterization and evaluation of gold ore preparation process is not implemented. In this study, the conditions of gold ore deposits have a thin thickness （vein）. These gold ore deposits have an economic value if they are developed by traditional gold mining. The objective of the research is to identify and characterize gold ore as well as to analyze the optimum condition to obtain the perfect gold mineral liberation degree. Research methods include characterization of gold ore geology, sampling for test preparation using rod mill （amalgamation）, gold mineral liberation using time variables and number of rods. After the grinding process, grain size analysis is performed with various mesh sizes, and the analysis of each fraction uses a polarization microscope. The results show that gold ore minerals are associated with pyrite, chalcopyrite, galena and gangue minerals. Gold minerals are fully liberated at a certain size. The results of this research are very useful for the gold ore grinding process to obtain an efficient gold processing.

Comparison of the morphology and structure of W03 nanomaterials synthesized by a sol-gel method followed by calcination^or hydrothermal treatment

Tungsten （VI） oxide （WO3） nanomaterials were synthesized by a sol-gel method using WC16 and C2HsOH as precursors followed by calcination or hydrothermal treatment. X-Ray diffraction （XRD）, scanning electron microscopy （sEM） and high resolution transmission electron microscopy （HRteM） equipped with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy （EDX） were used to characterize the structure and morphology of the materials. There were significant differences between the WO3 materials that were calcinated and those that were subjected to a hydrothermal process. The XRD results revealed that calcination temperatures of 300℃and 400℃ gave hexagonal structures and temperatures of 500℃ and 600℃ gave monoclinic structures. The sEM images showed that an increase in calcination temperature led to a decrease in the WO3 powder particle size. The teM analysis showed that several nanoparticles agglomerated to form bigger clusters. The hydrothermal process produced hexagonal structures for holding times of 12, 16, and 20 h and monoclinic structures for a holding time of 24 h. The sEM results showed transparent rectangular panicles which according to the teM results originated from the aggregation of several nanotubes.

Concomitant increase in the Muslim population of the world and the Muslims significant expenditure for the purpose of travel, the village halal travel is now becoming one of the most alternatives appeal to invite people to *** paper is intended to illustrate the potential and the readiness of people to hold lawful tourist village in sleman Yogyakarta. To obtain a picture in question, some variables are included in this study. It needs some steps in data collection, including the use of collective engagement process involving some＇, stakeholders to provide guidance on the development of rural tourism. Based on the results, this research aL,;o is expected to provide information and approval about sharia-based rural tourism to stakeholders. Respondents of this study are the locals particularly those involved in the business of conventional in the whole tourist villages in the area. Results of the research indicate that most of the villages have infrastructure that badly needs to be improved, lack of human resources skill （technologically backward, not able to communicate through internet, etc.）, and limited understanding of both the people and stakeholders of the villages about the conception of sharia-based tourist village. Implications of the findings are discussed.

The biogenic silica of sediment samples from Core CJ01-185 which is collected from the eastern India Ocean off the sunda strait is analyzed to evaluate the impact of the opening of the sunda strait on a paleoproductivity evolution. The new results indicate that the biogenic silica mass values of Core CJ01-185 show the lowest 0.86% in the last glacial period, and reach its maxima of 1.89% in the late Holocene. Furthermore, the biogenic silica mass accumulation rate(MARBsi) values also vary with much higher during the late Holocene than during the last glaciation. The input of additional terrigenous materials from the Java sea has enhanced the paleoproductivity and increased the biogenic silica mass and MARBsi values after the opening of the sunda strait. It is suggested that the paleoproductivity in the study area is mainly influenced by the southeast monsoon and upwelling before the opening of the sunda strait. However, the paleoproductivity is dominated by the terrigenous materials input other than by the southeast monsoon or upwelling in the Holocene.
