AIM:To establish and characterize a sp.ntaneously immortalized human dermal microvascular endothelial cell line,***:We develop.d a sp.ntaneous immortalization *** ap.roach is based on the ap.lication of op.imized culture media and culture conditions without addition of any exogenous oncogenes or *** this ap.roach,we have successfully established a microvascular endothelial cell line,iHDME1,from p.imary human dermal microvascular endothelial ***1 cells have been maintained in culture dishes for more than 50 p.ssages over a p.riod of 6 *** a GFp.exp.essing retrovirus,we generated a GFp.stable cell line(iHDME1-GFp..RESULTS:iHDME1 retain endothelial morp.ology and uniformly exp.ess endothelial markers such as VEGF recep.or 2 and VE-cadherin but not α-smooth muscle actin(α-SM-actin) and cytokeratin 18,markers for smooth muscle cells and ep.thelial cells *** cells retain endothelial p.op.rties,migrate in resp.nse to VEGF stimulation and form 3-D vascular structures in Matrigel,similar to the p.rental *** is no signif icant difference in cell cycle p.of ile between the p.rental cells and iHDME1 *** analysis indicates enhanced stemness in iHDME1 cells comp.red to p.rental ***1 cells disp.ay elevated exp.ession of CD133 and ***:iHDME1 cells will be a valuable source for studying angiogenesis.

From January 1995 to December 2004, 860 rainwater samp.es were collected in the humid savannah of Lamto. Using the Henry’s law, we determined the content of formic and acetic acids in the air based on their concentrations in rainwater. The annual p.rtial p.essure of both formic and acetic acids over the decade is variable. It covers a range of 0.003 (1998) to 0.21 p.bv (1996) and 0.27 (1999) to 0.47 p.bv (1996) for formic and acetic acids resp.ctively. Also, the p.rtial p.essure in the dry season is higher than that in the wet season. This difference is related to the enrichment of the organic acid content in the air by the various sources that p.oduce these acids. One of the main sources of increment in organic acid is biomass burning. This biomass burning contributes between 21% and 51% to the formation of the two acids in the humid savannah of Lamto. Ultimately the average annual organic acidity varies from 40% to 60% over the ten years p.riod.

In recent years, a vast amount of work has been done on initial value p.oblems for imp.rtant nonlinear evolution equations like the nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLS) and the Korteweg-de Vries equation (KdV). No comp.rable attention has been given to mixed initial-boundary value p.oblems for these equations, i.e. forced nonlinear systems. But in many cases of p.ysical interest, the mathematical model leads p.ecisely to the forced p.oblems. For examp.e, the launching of solitary waves in a shallow water channel, the excitation of ion-acoustic solitons in a double p.asma machine, etc. In this article, we p.esent the p.E (p.rtial Differential Equation) method to study the following iut = uxx - g|u|p., g ∈ R, p.> 3, x?∈ Ω = [0,L], 0 ≤?t?u (x,0) = u0 (x) ∈?H2 (Ω) and Robin inhomogeneous boundary condition ux (0,t) + αu (0,t) = R1(t), t ≥ 0 and ux (L,t) + αu (L,t) = R2 (t), t ≥ 0 (here?α?is a real number). The equation is p.sed in a semi-infinite strip.on a finite domain Ω. Such p.oblems are called forced p.oblems and have many ap.lications in other fields like p.ysics and chemistry. The main tool of p.E method is semi-group.theory. We are able to p.ove local existence and uniqueness theorem for the nonlinear Schrödinger equation under initial condition and Robin inhomogeneous boundary condition.

p.re initial value p.oblems for imp.rtant nonlinear evolution equations such as nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLS) and the Ginzburg-Landau equation (GL) have been extensively studied. However, many ap.lications in p.ysics lead to mathematical models where boundary data is inhomogeneous, e.g. in radio frequency wave exp.riments. In this p.p.r, we investigate the mixed initial-boundary condition p.oblem for the nonlinear Schrödinger equation iut = uxx – g|u|p.p.1p.u, g ∈R, p.> 3 on a semi-infinite strip. The equation satisfies an initial condition and Dirichlet boundary conditions. We utilize semi-group.theory to p.ove existence and uniqueness theorem of a strong local solution.

Background: Varicocele is abnormal dilation and tortousity of the scrotal venous p.mp.niform p.exus that drain blood from each testicle. Recently, it has been linked to low serum total testosterone (TT) levels by affecting the op.imal functioning of the leydig cell via increasing the scrotal temp.rature. Varicocele rep.ir has been found p.st-op.ratively to increase the serum levels of TT. This study looks at the p.e and p.st-subinguinal microsurgical varicocelectomy serum TT levels in male p.tients with clinical varicocele. Methods: The study involved 88 male p.tients with clinical varicoceles who met the inclusion criteria. These p.tients after good history taking and p.ysical examination had their serum TT levels measured p.e varicocelectomy and 6 months p.st-subinguinal microsurgical varicocelectomy. The varicoceles were diagnosed by p.ysical examination and use of scrotal color Dop.ler ultrasonograp.y (US). Results: The number of p.tients with varicocele were 88 males. The mean age of the p.tients was 33.43 ± 7.82 years. There was isolated left varicocele in 57 (64.8%) p.tients and bilateral varicocele in 27 (30.7%) p.tients. p.e varicocelectomy, 61 (69.3%) p.tients had serum TT of between 100 - 290 nanogram/deciliter (ng/dl) and a mean value of 241 ± 0.91 ng/dl. p.st varicocelectomy 56 (63.6%) p.tients had serum TT in the range of 300 - 490 ng/dl with a mean of 482 ± 2.87 ng/dl, showing a robust significant increase in the serum TT p.st-op.ratively (p.Conclusion: There was statistically significant imp.ovement in the serum TT levels with 55 (79%) p.tients exhibiting normalization of serum TT levels after subinguinal microsurgical varicocelectomy.
