Transcriptomic changes at the cessation of sugar accumulation in the pericarp of Vitis vinifera were addressed on single berries re-synchronised according to their individual growth *** net rates of water,sugars and K+accumulation inferred from individual growth and solute concentration confirmed that these inflows stopped simultaneously in the ripe berry,while the small amount of malic acid remaining at this stage was still being oxidised at low ***-synchronised individual berries displayed negligible variations in gene expression among ***-seq studies revealed sharp reprogramming of cell-wall enzymes and structural proteins at the stop of phloem unloading,associated with an 80%repression of multiple sugar transporters and aquaporins on the plasma or tonoplast membranes,with the noticeable exception of H^(+)/sugar symporters,which were rather weakly and constitutively *** was verified in three genotypes placed in contrasted thermo-hydric *** prevalence of sWEET suggests that electrogenic transporters would play a minor role on the plasma membranes of sE/CC complex and the one of the flesh,while sucrose/H+exchangers dominate on its ***-regulatory elements present in their promoters allowed to sort these transporters in different groups,also including specific TIPs and PIPs paralogs,and cohorts of cell wall-related *** with simple thermodynamic considerations,these results lead to propose that H^(+)/sugar exchangers at the tonoplast,associated with a considerably acidic vacuolar pH,may exhaust cytosolic sugars in the flesh and alleviate the need for supplementary energisation of sugar transport at the plasma membrane.

Measurement of Anomalous Radon Gas Emanation Across the Yammouneh Fault in southern Lebanon: A Possible Approach to Earthquake Prediction

The eastern Mediterranean region is an active tectonic setting that includes the Dead sea Transform Fault, which forms the boundary between the African and the Arabian Plates and crosses Lebanon from south to north, striking in a restraining bend around 25–30°NE. The major structural feature in Lebanon is the Yammouneh Fault, which reaches to syria and southern Turkey in a north–south direction. Measurements of radon gas concentration and exhalation rates in two locations along the southern segment of the Yammouneh Fault in south Lebanon were performed. Two profiles in the El-Khiam basin and Blat pull-apart basin and perpendicular to the Yammouneh Fault trace were analyzed. An approximate fault width 25–30 m wide was determined in the El-Khiam study area. Temporal increase of radon concentration was measured and correlated with stress/strain tectonic activity and stress drops along the studied fault segment *** variable radon concentrations were detected during one of the measurements where an earthquake occurred in the region of Tiberias Lake in northern Palestine along the Yammouneh Fault in the study area. Measurements of radon concentration along a station’s profile in Blat village did not show any radon anomalous variation due to the discontinuity along the fault(pull-apart), and possible absence of stress and energy accumulation along the Yammouneh Fault line in that location.

Using Mobile Phone Data to Assess socio-Economic Disparities in Unhealthy Food Reliance during the COVID-19 Pandemic

Background:Although COVID-19 has disproportionately affected socio-economically vulnerable populations,research on its impact on socio-economic disparities in unhealthy food reliance remains ***:This study uses mobile phone data to evaluate the impact of COVID-19 on socio-economic disparities in reliance on convenience stores and fast *** is defined in terms of the proportion of visits to convenience stores out of the total visits to both convenience and grocery stores,and the proportion of visits to fast food restaurants out of the total visits to both fast food and full-service *** to each type of food outlet at the county level were traced and aggregated using mobile phone data before being analyzed with socio-economic demographics and COVID-19 incidence ***:Our findings suggest that a new COVID-19 case per 1,000 population decreased a county’s odds of relying on convenience stores by 3.41%and increased its odds of fast food reliance by 0.72%.As a county’s COVID-19 incidence rate rises by an additional case per 1,000 population,the odds of relying on convenience stores increased by 0.01%,0.02%,and 0.06%for each additional percentage of Hispanics,college-educated residents,and every additional year in median age,*** fast food reliance,as a county’s COVID-19 incidence rate increases by one case per 1,000 population,the odds decreased by 0.003%for every additional percentage of Hispanics but increased by 0.02%for every additional year in the county’s median ***:These results complement existing literature to promote equitable food environments.

Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Modeling of Mechanical Behavior for Vertically Aligned Carbon Nanotube Turfs

several characterization methods have been developed to investigate the mechanical and structural properties of vertically aligned carbon nanotubes （VACNTs）. Establishing analytical models at nanoscale to interpret these properties is complicated due to the nonuniformity and irregularity in quality of as-grown samples. In this paper, we propose a new methodology to investigate the correlation between indentation resistance of multi-wall carbon nanotube （MWCNT） turfs, Raman spectra and the geometrical properties of the turf structure using adaptive neuro-fuzzy phenomenological modeling. This methodology yields a novel approach for modeling at the nanoscale by evaluating the effect of structural morphologies on nanomaterial properties using Raman spectroscopy.

Novel decoupled framework for reliability-based design optimization of structures using a robust shifting technique

In a reliability-based design optimization (RBDO), computation of the failure probability (Pf) at all design points through the process may suitably be avoided at the early stages. Thus, to reduce extensive computations of RBDO, one could decouple the optimization and reliability analysis. The present work proposes a new methodology for such a decoupled approach that separates optimization and reliability analysis into two procedures which significantly improve the computational efficiency of the RBDO. This technique is based on the probabilistic sensitivity approach (PsA) on the shifted probability density function. stochastic variables are separated into two groups of desired and non-desired variables. The three-phase procedure may be summarized as: Phase 1, apply deterministic design optimization based on mean values of random variables;Phase 2, move designs toward a reliable space using PsA and finding a primary reliable optimum point;Phase 3, applying an intelligent self-adaptive procedure based on cubic B-spline interpolation functions until the targeted failure probability is reached. An improved response surface method is used for computation of failure probability. The proposed RBDO approach could significantly reduce the number of analyses required to less than 10% of conventional methods. The computational efficacy of this approach is demonstrated by solving four benchmark truss design problems published in the structural optimization literature.

Multi-level virtual prototyping of electromechanical actuation system for more electric aircraft

Electromechanical actuators（EMAs） are becoming increasingly attractive in the field of more electric aircraft because of their outstanding benefits, which include reduced fuel burn and maintenance cost, enhanced system flexibility, and improved management of fault detection and isolation. However, electromechanical actuation raises specific issues when being used for safetycritical aerospace applications like flight controls： huge reflected inertia to load, jamming-type failure, and increase of backlash with service due to wear and local dissipation of heat losses for thermal balance. This study proposes an incremental approach for virtual prototyping of EMAs. It is driven by a model-based system engineering process in order to enable simulation-aided *** practices supported by Bond graph formalism are suggested to develop a model＇s structure efficiently and to make the model ready for use（or extension） by addressing the above mentioned issues. Physical effects are progressively introduced, and the realism of lumped-parameter models is increased step-by-step. In particular, multi-level component models are architected to ensure continuity between engineering activities. The models are implemented in the AMEsim simulation environment, and simulation responses are given to illustrate how they can be used for preliminary sizing, control design, thermal balance verification, and faults to failure analysis. The proposed best practices intend to provide engineers with fast, reusable, and efficient means to assess performance virtually and enhance maturity, performance, and robustness.

Governance in the exploration of global and regional determinants of ICT development

The present study assesses how governance affects information and communication technology(IcT)at the global level contingent on macroeconomic policy factors such as trade,foreign direct investment(FDI),manufacturing value added,and agricultural value *** study focuses on 183 countries from 2003 to 2021,and the empirical evidence is based on the generalized method of moments(GMM).The following main findings are *** the full sample,governance unconditionally promotes ICT development,while trade openness(industrial added value)moderates governance to promote(dampen)ICT *** sub-saharan Africa,only trade openness effectively moderates governance to induce an overall positive effect on ICT,while in the Middle East and North Africa(MENA)region,all policy variables moderate governance for an overall positive incidence on ICT sector *** findings for the MENA region are confirmed in the Europe and Central Asia(ECA)region,with the exception of the moderating role of industrial added value,which engenders an overall negative *** the East and south Asia and the Pacific(EsAP)countries,one overall positive incidence is apparent in the role of trade openness,while net negative effects are established from the moderating roles of industrial added value and agricultural added *** the American sub-sample,a positive(negative)net effect is apparent from the role of industrial added value(trade)in moderating the incidence of gover-nance on ICT sector ***,policy implications are discussed.
