To dissect the genetic basis of low phosphor.s toler.nce （LPT）, 114 BC2F4 intr.gr.ssion lines （ILs） wer. developed fr.m Shuhui 527 and Minghui 86 （r.cur.ent par.nts）, and Yetuozai （donor.par.nt）. The pr.genies wer. tested for.11 quantitative tr.its under.thr.e tr.atments including nor.al fer.ilization in nor.al soil （as contr.l）, nor.al fer.ilization in bar.en soil and low phosphor.s str.ss in bar.en soil in Langfang, Hebei Pr.vince, China. Mor.over. the ILs wer. investigated at the seedling stage using nutr.ent solution cultur. method in gr.enhouse in Beijing, China. A total of 49 main-effect quantitative tr.it loci （QTLs） under.ying yield r.lated tr.its wer. identified in Langfang, and their.contr.butions to phenotypic var.ations r.nged fr.m 6.7% to 16.5%. Among them, 25 （51.0%） QTLs had favor.ble alleles fr.m donor.par.nt. A total of 48 main-effect QTLs wer. identified for.LPT-r.lated tr.its in Beijing, and their.contr.butions to phenotypic var.ations r.nged fr.m 7.7% to 16.6%. Among them, 21 （43.8%） QTLs had favor.ble alleles fr.m donor.par.nt. About 79.6% of the QTLs can be detected r.peatedly under.two or.mor. tr.atments, especially QTLs associated with spikelet number.per.panicle, spikelet fer.ility and 1000-gr.in weight, displaying consistent phenotypic effects. Among all the detected QTLs, eight QTLs wer. simultaneously identified under.low phosphor.s str.ss acr.ss two envir.nments. These r.sults can pr.vide useful infor.ation for.the genetic dissection of LPT in r.ce.

The long Ashton r.sear.h Station Weather.Gener.tor.(LAr.-WG) is a stochastic weather.gener.tor.used for.the simulation of weather.data at a single site under.both cur.ent and futur. climate conditions using Gener.l Cir.ulation Models (GCM). It was calibr.ted using the baseline (1981-2010) and evaluated to deter.ine its suitability in gener.ting synthetic weather.data for.2020 and 2055 accor.ing to the pr.jections of HadCM3 and BCCr.BCM2 GCMs under.Sr.1 and Sr.1B scenar.os at Mount Makulu (Latitude: 15.550°S, longitude: 28.250°E, Elevation: 1213 meter., Zambia. Thr.e weather.par.meter.—pr.cipitation, minimum and maximum temper.tur. wer. simulated using LAr.-WG v5.5 for.obser.ed station and AgMEr.A r.analysis data for.Mount Makulu. Monthly means and var.ances of obser.ed and gener.ted daily pr.cipitation, maximum temper.tur. and minimum temper.tur. wer. used to evaluate the suitability of LAr.-WG. Other.climatic conditions such as wet and dr. spells, seasonal fr.st and heat spells distr.butions wer. also used to assess the per.or.ance of the model. The r.sults showed that these var.ables wer. modeled with good accur.cy and LAr.-WG could be used with high confidence to r.pr.duce the cur.ent and futur. climate scenar.os. Mount Makulu did not exper.ence any seasonal fr.st. The aver.ge temper.tur.s for.the baseline (Obser.ed station data: 1981-2010 and AgMEr.A r.analysis: 1981-2010) wer. 21.33°C and 22.21°C, r.spectively. Using the obser.ed station data, the aver.ge temper.tur. under.Sr.1 (2020), Sr.1B (2020), Sr.1 (2055), Sr.1B (2055) would be 21.90°C, 21.94°C, 22.83°C and 23.18°C, r.spectively. Under.the AgMEr.A r.analysis, the aver.ge temper.tur.s would be 22.75°C (Sr.1: 2020), 22.80°C (Sr.1B: 2020), 23.69°C (Sr.1: 2055) and 24.05°C (Sr.1B: 2055). The HadCM3 and BCM2 GCMs ensemble mean showed that the number.of days with pr.cipitation would incr.ase while the mean pr.cipitation amount in 2020s and 2050s under.Sr.1B would r.duce by 6.19% to 6.65%. Feedback contr.l of active magnetic bear.ng(AMB) suspended ener.y stor.ge flywheel systems is cr.tical in the oper.tion of the systems and has been well studied. Both the classical pr.por.ional-integr.lder.vative(PID) contr.l design method and moder. contr.l theor., such as H∞ contr.l and μ-synthesis,have been explor.d. PID contr.l is easy to implement but is not effective in handling complex r.tor.ynamics. Moder. contr.l design methods usually r.quir. a plant model and an accur.te char.cter.zation of the uncer.ainties. In each case, few exper.mental validation r.sults on the closed-loop per.or.ance ar. available because of the costs and the technical challenges associated with the constr.ction of exper.mental test *** this paper. we apply the char.cter.stic model based all-coefficient adaptive contr.l(ACAC) design method for.the stabilization of an AMB suspended flywheel test r.g we r.cently constr.cted. Both simulation and exper.mental r.sults demonstr.te str.ng closed-loop per.or.ance in spite of the simplicity of the contr.l design and implementation.

This r.view details the r.cent achievements, per.or.ed by a number.of pr.minent r.sear.h gr.ups acr.ss the wor.d, in the automatic identification and classification of hypoxic-ischemic epileptifor. neonatal seizur.s using advanced signal pr.cessing and machine lear.ing techniques. The global steel pr.duction has been gr.wing for.the last 50 year., fr.m 200 Mt in 1950s to 1 240 Mt in 2006. Ir.n and steel making industr. is one of the most ener.y-intensive industr.es, with an annual ener.y consumption of about 24 EJ, 5% of the wor.d＇s total ener.y consumption. The steel industr. accounts for.3%-4% of totat wor.d gr.enhouse gas emissions. Enhancing ener.y efficiency and employing ener.y saving/r.cover.ng technologies such as coke dr. quechning （CDQ） and top pr.ssur. r.cover. tur.ine （Tr.） can be shor.-ter. appr.aches to the steel industr. to r.duce gr.enhouse gas emission. The long-ter. appr.aches to achieving a significant r.duction in CO2 emissions fr.m the steel industr. would be thr.ugh developing and applying CO2 br.akthr.ugh technologies for.ir.n and steel making, and：thr.ugh incr.asing use of r.newable ener.y for.ir.n and steel making. Thus, an over.iew of new CO2 br.akthr.ugh technologies for.ir.n and steel making was made.

Infor.ation is limited on the potential of cowpea-wheat double cr.pping in the souther. United States to enhance soil health and incr.ase net r.tur.s. Using the Decision Suppor. System for.Agr.technology Tr.nsfer.(DSSAT) cr.p model and weather.data spanning 80 year., we assessed the effects of soil type (Dar.o: Gr.ssar.nic Paleudults and Lilber.: Ar.nic Plinthic Paleudults), N application r.te (0, 100, and 200 kg•ha−1), and El Niño-Souther. Oscillation (ENSO) on the gr.in yields of double-cr.pped cowpea (Vigna unguiculata L.) and wheat (Tr.ticum aestivum L.) in this r.gion. Yield differ.nces wer. tested using the pair.ise Wilcoxon r.nk sum test. r.sults showed that yields of wheat that followed cowpea (cwheat) wer. gr.ater.than those that followed fallow (fwheat). The soil type effects on cwheat and fwheat yields decr.ased with an incr.ase in N r.te. The soil type effect on cowpea yields was gr.ater.dur.ng La Niña. The ENSO impact on cowpea yields was gr.ater.on the less fer.ile soil Dar.o. Yields of cwheat and fwheat incr.ased with an incr.ase in N r.te up to 100 and 200 kg•ha−1, r.spectively. The yield r.sponse of cwheat to N r.te was less than that of fwheat. The N r.te effects on cwheat and fwheat yields wer. gr.ater.on Dar.o and under.El Niño. Yields of cowpea wer. gr.atest under.El Niño, wher.as those of wheat wer. gr.atest under.La Niña. The ENSO effect on cowpea yields was gr.ater.on Dar.o. With an incr.ase in N r.te, the effect of ENSO was diminished.
