Androgen deprivation therapy （ADT） is widely used as standard therapy in the treatment of locally advanced and metastatic prostate cancer. While efficacious, ADT is associated with multiple side effects, including decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, diabetes, loss of muscle tone and altered body composition, osteoporosis, lipid changes, memory loss, gynecomastia and hot flashes. The breadth of literature for the treatment of hot flashes is much smaller in men than that in women. While hormonal therapy of hot flashes has been shown to be effective, multiple non-hormonal medications and treatment methods have also been developed. This article reviews current options for the treatment of hot flashes in patients taking ADT.

Electron microscopy(EM)provides a unique ability to visualize structural detail with a resolution orders of magnitude better than other imaging *** conventionally,its limitation is that each acquired image represents a small area with a section thickness significantly less than 100 ***,techniques have been developed that allow thousands of relatively large serial-sections to be collected and efficiently imaged at full EM resolution,with the images then being stitched back together to produce a 3D volume.

In 1861,Maxwell conceived the idea of the displacement current,which then made laws of electrodynamics more complete and also resulted in the realization of devices exploiting such displacement ***,it is presently unknown if such displacement current can result in large intrinsic ac current in ferroic systems possessing domains,despite the flurry of recent activities that have been devoted to domains and their corresponding conductivity in these ***,we report firstprinciples-based atomistic simulations that predict that the transverse(polarization-related)displacement currents of 71°and 109°domains in the prototypical BiFeO_(3) multiferroic material are significant at the walls of such domains and in the GHz regime,and,in fact,result in currents that are at least of the same order of magnitude than previously reported dc currents(that are likely extrinsic in nature and due to electrons).Such large,localized and intrinsic ac currents are found to originate from low-frequency vibrations at the domain walls,and may open the door to the design of novel devices functioning in the GHz or THz range and in which currents would be confined within the domain wall.

Recent improvements in the speed and accuracy of DNA sequencing, together with increasingly sophisti- cated mathematical approaches for annotating gene networks, have revolutionized the field of human genetics and made these once time consuming approaches assessable to most investigators. In the field of bone research, a particularly active area of gene discovery has occurred in patients with rare bone disorders such as osteogenesis imperfecta （OI） that are caused by mutations in single genes. In this perspective, we highlight some of these technological advances and describe how they have been used to identify the genetic determinants underlying two previously unexplained cases of OI. The widespread availability of advanced methods for DNA sequencing and bioinformatics analysis can be expected to greatly facilitate identification of novel gene networks that normally function to control bone formation and maintenance.

Negative capacitance in BaTiO_(3)/SrTiO_(3) superlattices is investigated by Monte Carlo simulations in an atomistic effective Hamiltonian model,using fluctuation formulas for responses to the local macroscopic field that incorporates depolarizing *** show that epitaxial strain can tune the negative capacitance of the BaTiO_(3) ferroelectric layer and the overall capacitance of the *** addition,we predict and explain an original switching of the negative capacitance from the BaTiO3 layer to the SrTiO_(3) layer at low temperatures for intermediate strains.

This paper deals with the modelling and simulation of aircraft systems, in particular for power transmission and control. It is intended to review, propose and disseminate best practices for making model-based/simulation-aided engineering more efficient at any phase of the system life cycle. The proposals are aimed at creating value, not only by increasing the performance of the product under study but also by shortening the time to market, capitalizing knowledge, mitigating risks and facilitating concurrent engineering. The needs associated with the engineering activities are firstly identified to define a set of requirements for the models. Then, these requirements are used to drive the considerations leading to model development, focusing in particular on the process,modelled physical effects, modelling level, model architecting and concurrent engineering. The third part deals with the model implementation, giving special consideration to the different types of models, causalities, parameterization, implementation and verification. Each part is illustrated by examples related to safety critical actuators.

A 90th birthday would be a milestone celebration for any person,but exceptionally rare if the person is still active after 75 years of working and serving the photogrammetric and remote sensing communities *** unprecedented career is the motivation to reflect on the technological developments of the past 75 years in the light of Gottfried Konecny’s lifetime achievements.I started to get to know Gottfried not long before he officially retired from the Institute for Photogrammetry and Engineering Surveys in ***,I was not even born when he,as a young and talented scholar supported by the Fulbright Scholarship from the US Government,arrived at the Ohio State University(OSU),which has been my professional home for three *** the second half of Gottfried’s 75-year career,the technological changes have been phenomenal,and,furthermore,shown an accelerating trend in the past few *** is absolutely remarkable how Gottfried has been able to keep up with these rapid changes and advancing technologies and exploits them for mapping and,in general,for all the users of the geospatial field at ***,his open-minded and kind personality has been always a major plus to his technical skills and experiences,and ultimately helped him assist many colleagues to advance their careers,and along the way developed and increased the use of geospatial data and systems in support of many countries worldwide.
