Pulmonary embolism(PE)is a rare but devastating complication of shoulder *** from increased morbidity and mortality rates,it may significantly impair postoperative recovery and functional *** frequency accounts for up to 5.7%of all shoulder surgery procedures with a higher occurrence in women and patients older than 70 *** is most commonly associated with thrombophilia,diabetes mellitus,obesity,smoking,hypertension,and a history of *** usually occurs secondary to upper or lower-extremity deep vein thrombosis(DVT).However,in rare cases,the source of the thrombi cannot be *** for PE following shoulder surgery remains a topic of debate,and the standard of care does not routinely require prophylactic medication for DVT *** ambulation and elastic stockings are important preventative measures for DVT of the lower extremity and medical agents such as aspirin,low-molecular-weight heparin,and vitamin K antagonists are indicated for high-risk patients,long-lasting operations,or concomitant severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 *** most common symptoms of PE include chest pain and shortness of breath,but PE can also be asymptomatic in patients with intrinsic tolerance of *** with DVT may also present with swelling and pain of the respective *** treatment of PE includes inpatient or outpatient anticoagulant therapy if the patient is hemodynamically unstable or stable,*** instability may require transfer to the intensive care unit,and cardiovascular arrest can be implicated in fatal *** important issue for patients with PE in the postoperative period after shoulder surgery is residual stiffness due to a delay in rehabilitation and a prolonged hospital *** physiotherapy and range-of-motion exercises do not adversely affect the prognosis of PE and are highly recommended to preserve shoulder mobility and function.

The present paper investigates the effect of fracturing degree on P-and S-wave velocities in *** deformation of intact brittle rocks under loading conditions is characterized by a microcracking procedure,which occurs due to flaws in their microscopic structure and propagates through the intact rock,leading to shear *** fracturing process is of fundamental significance as it affects the mechanical properties of the rock and hence the wave *** order to determine the fracture mechanism and the effect of fracturing degree,samples were loaded at certain percentages of peak strength and ultrasonic wave velocity was recorded after every *** fracturing degree was recorded on the outer surface of the sample and quantified by the use of the indices P;（traces of joints/m）,P;（traces of joints/m;） and P;（length of fractures/m;）.It was concluded that the wave velocity decreases exponentially with increasing fracturing ***,the fracturing degree is described adequately with the proposed ***,other parameters concerning the fracture characteristics,rock type and scale influence were found to contribute to the velocity decay and need to be investigated further.

There is an increasing interest in exploiting theflexibility of loads to provide ancillary services to the *** this paper we study how response delays and lockout constraints affect the controllability of an aggregation of refrigerators offering primary frequency control(PFC).First we examine the effect of delays in PFC provision from an aggregation of refrigerators, using a two-area power system. We propose a framework to systematically address frequency measurement and response delays and we determine safe values for the total delays via simulations. We introduce a controllability index to evaluate PFC provision under lockout constraints of refrigerators compressors. We conduct extensive simulations to study the effects of measurement delay, ramping times, lockout durations and rotational inertia on the controllability of the aggregation and system stability. Finally, we discuss solutions for offering reliable PFC provision from thermostatically controlled loads under lockout constraints and we propose a supervisory control to enhance the robustness of their controllers.

It is difficult to collect and characterise well-preserved samples of weakly-cemented granular rocks as conventional sampling techniques often result in destruction of the *** alternative approach is to prepare synthetic geomaterials to match required *** paper introduces microbially induced carbonate precipitation(MICP)as a method to reliably deliver artificiallycemented specimens with customised properties,closely resembling those of soft carbonate *** specimens are generated from materials with two highly different particle size distributions(PSDs)to access a range of achievable combinations of strengths and *** MICP parameters are kept constant across all samples to obtain similar calcium carbonate characteristics(size of individual crystals,type,etc.),while injected volume is varied to achieve different cementation *** uniform cementation of very coarse sands has been considered very difficult to achieve,the results show that both the fine and coarse sand specimens present high degrees of uniformity and a good degree of *** unconfined compressive strengths(UCSs)(less than 3000 kPa)and porosities(0.25e0.4)of the artificial specimens fall in the same range of values reported for natural *** strength gainwas greater in the fine sand than that in the coarse sand,as the void size in the latter was significantly larger compared to the calcium carbonate crystals’size,resulting in precipitation on less effective locations,away from contacts between *** strengths and porosities obtained for the two sands in this work fall within ranges reported in the literature for natural soft rocks,demonstrating theMICP technique is able to achieve realistic properties and may be used to produce a full range of properties by varying the grain sizes,and possibly the width of PSD.

The anterolateral ligament(ALL)is a primary structure of the anterolateral complex of the knee that contributes to internal rotational stability of the *** of the ALL is commonly associated with rupture of the anterior cruciate *** left untreated,ALL lesions may lead to residual anterolateral rotational instability of the knee after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction,which is a common cause of anterior cruciate ligament graft *** function of the ALL can be restored by lateral extraarticular tenodesis or anterolateral ligament reconstruction(ALLR).In the lateral extraarticular tenodesis procedure,a strip of the iliotibial band is placed in a non-anatomical position to restrain the internal rotation of the tibia,while in ALLR,a free graft is fixed at the insertion points of the native *** and semitendinosus grafts have mainly been utilized for ALLR,but other autografts have also been ***,allografts and synthetic grafts have been applied to minimize donor-site morbidity and maximize the size and strength of the ***,there has been no strong evidence to fully support one method over another thus *** present review presents a detailed description of the graft choices for ALLR and the current literature available in regard to the effectiveness and outcomes of published surgical techniques.
