Global trends in diabetic eye disease research from 2012 to 2021

Diabetic eye disease refers to a group of eye complications that occur in diabetic patients and include diabetic retinopathy, diabetic macular edema, diabetic cataracts, and diabetic glaucoma. However, the global epidemiology of these conditions has not been well characterized. In this study, we collected information on diabetic eye disease-related research grants from seven representative countries––the United States, China, Japan, the United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, and France––by searching for all global diabetic eye disease journal articles in the Web of Science and Pub Med databases, all global registered clinical trials in the Clinical Trials database, and new drugs approved by the United States, China, Japan, and EU agencies from 2012 to 2021. During this time period, diabetic retinopathy accounted for the vast majority(89.53%) of the 2288 government research grants that were funded to investigate diabetic eye disease, followed by diabetic macular edema(9.27%). The United States granted the most research funding for diabetic eye disease out of the seven countries assessed. The research objectives of grants focusing on diabetic retinopathy and diabetic macular edema differed by country. Additionally, the United States was dominant in terms of research output, publishing 17.53% of global papers about diabetic eye disease and receiving 22.58% of total citations. The United States and the United Kingdom led international collaborations in research into diabetic eye disease. Of the 415 clinical trials that we identified, diabetic macular edema was the major disease that was targeted for drug development(58.19%). Approximately half of the trials(49.13%) pertained to angiogenesis. However, few drugs were approved for ophthalmic(40 out of 1830;2.19%) and diabetic eye disease(3 out of 1830;0.02%) applications. Event-triggered finite-time command-filtered tracking control for nonlinear time-delay cyber physical systems against cyber attacks

This article addresses the secure finite-time tracking problem via event-triggered command-filtered control for nonlinear time-delay cyber physical systems(CPSs)subject to cyber *** the attack circumstance,the output and state information of CPSs is unavailable for the feedback design,and the classical coordinate conversion of the iterative process is incompetent in relation to the tracking *** solve this,a new coordinate conversion is proposed by considering the attack gains and the reference signal *** employing the transformed variables,a modified fractional-order command-filtered signal is incorporated to overcome the complexity explosion issue,and the Nussbaum function is used to tackle the varying attack *** systematically constructing the Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional,an adaptive event-triggered mechanism is presented in detail,with which the communication resources are greatly saved,and the finite-time tracking of CPSs under cyber attacks is ***,an example demonstrates the effectiveness.

Since backlash nonlinearity is inevitably existing in actuators for bidirectional stabilization system of allelectric tank,it behaves more drastically in high maneuvering *** this work,the accurate tracking control for bidirectional stabilization system of moving all-electric tank with actuator backlash and unmodeled disturbance is *** utilizing the smooth adaptive backlash inverse model,a nonlinear robust adaptive feedback control scheme is *** unknown parameters and unmodelled disturbance are addressed separately through the derived parametric adaptive function and the continuous nonlinear robust *** the unknown backlash parameters are updated via adaptive function and the backlash effect can be suppressed successfully by inverse operation,which ensures the system ***,the system disturbance in the high maneuverable environment can be estimated with the constructed adaptive law online improving the engineering ***,Lyapunov-based analysis proves that the developed controller can ensure the tracking error asymptotically converges to zero even with unmodeled disturbance and unknown actuator *** co-simulations and experiments illustrate the advantages of the proposed approach.

Wearable Leg Movement Monitoring System for High-Precision Real-Time Metabolic Energy Estimation and Motion Recognition

Comprehensive and quantitative assessment of human physical activity in daily life is valuable for healthcare,especially for those who suffer from obesity and neurological disorders or are at high risk of *** wearable devices,e.g.,smartwatches,are insufficient and inaccurate for monitoring highly dynamic limb movements and assessing human ***,we report a new wearable leg movement monitoring system incorporating a custom-made motion sensor with machine learning algorithm to perceive human motion accurately and comprehensively during diverse walking and running *** system enables real-time multimodal perceptions of personal identity,motion state,locomotion speed,and energy expenditure for wearers.A general law of extracting real-time metabolic energy from leg movements is verified although individual gaits show *** addition,we propose a novel sensing configuration combining unilateral lower leg movement velocity with its angular rate to achieve high accuracy and good generalizability while simplifying the wearable *** performances in personal identification(accuracy of 98.7%)and motion-state recognition(accuracy of 93.7%)are *** wearable system also exhibites high-precision real-time estimations of locomotion speed(error of 3.04%to 9.68%)and metabolic energy(error of 4.18%to 14.71%)for new subjects across various time-varying *** wearable system allows reliable leg movement monitoring and quantitative assessment of bodily kinematic and kinetic behaviors during daily activities,as well as safe identity authentication by gait parameters,which would greatly facilitate smart life,personal healthcare,and rehabilitation training.

Flower-like CuS/γ-Fe_(2)O_(3) van der Waals heterostructures with highefficient electromagnetic wave absorption

The escalating electromagnetic(EM)pollution issues and the demand to elevate military stealth technology make it imperative to develop cost-effective and high-performance electromagnetic wave(EMW)absorbing *** this paper,the flower-like CuS/γ-Fe_(2)O_(3) van der Waals(vdW)heterostructures have been synthesized via a facile two-step solvothermal *** flower-like CuS skeleton increases the attenuation path of EMW while reducing the material *** contents ofγ-Fe_(2)O_(3) nanoparticles anchor between the flower-like CuS nanosheets to constitute a heterogeneous structure,which enables dielectric and magnetic loss synergistically to optimize impedance matching and remarkably improve the EMW absorption *** minimum reflection loss(RLmin)is-49.36 dB with a thickness of only 1.6 mm and the effective absorption bandwidth(EAB)reaches 4.64 GHz(13.36–18 GHz).By adjusting the thickness of the absorber,the EAB can cover 96%of the GHz ***,the superior absorption of-61.53 dB at middle frequency band can be obtained by adjusting the amount of Fe_(2)O_(3) *** this study,the adjustment of EM parameters and the optimization of impedance matching have been achieved by constructing a novel vdW heterogeneous structure,which provides fresh ideas and references for the design of high-performance EMW absorbing materials.

Latewood width(LWW)indices of trees are considered a reliable proxy of summer precipitation in the Northern ***,the strong coupling and high correlation between earlywood width(EWW)and LWW indices often prevent registration of climate signals of the LWW *** this study,328-year-long earlywood width and latewood width chronologies were developed from Chinese pine at two sites in the Hasi Mountains,north central *** climate responses of these chronologies were analyzed and the LWW index used to derive sum-mer precipitation *** analyses showed that LWW was particularly influenced by earlywood growth and recorded stronger climate signals of the previous year as EWW,rather than those of the current year with infrequent summer climate ***,after removing the effect of earlywood growth using a simple regression model,the adjusted LWW chronology(LWW_(adj))showed a strong relationship with July precipitation in dry *** suggests that the LWW_(adj) chronology has the potential to be used to investigate long-term variability in summer precipitation in drought-limited regions.

Rotor cross-tilt optimization for yaw control improvement of multi-rotor eVTOL aircraft

Manned multi-rotor electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing(eVTOL)aircraft is prone to actuator saturation due to its weak yaw control *** address this inherent problem,a rotor cross-tilt configuration is applied in this paper,with an optimization method proposed to improve the overall control efficiency of the ***,a flight dynamics model of a 500-kg manned multi-rotor eVTOL aircraft is *** accuracy of the co-axial rotor model is verified using a single arm test bench,and the accuracy of the flight dynamics model is verified by the flight test ***,an optimization method is designed based on the flight dynamics model to calculate an optimal rotor cross-tilt mounting angle,which not only improves the yaw control efficiency,but also basically maintains the efficiency of other control *** ideal rotor cross-tilt mounting angle for the prototype is determined by comprehensively considering the optimal results with different payloads,forward flight speeds,and rotor mounting angle ***,the feasibility of the rotor cross-tilt mounting angle is proved by analyzing the control derivatives of the flight dynamics model,the test data of a ground three Degree-of-Freedom(3DOF)platform,and the actual flight data of the *** results show that a fixed rotor cross-tilt mounting angle can achieve ideal yaw control effectiveness,improving yaw angle tracking and hold ability,increasing endurance time,and achieving good yaw control performance with different payloads and forward speeds.

Time-varying parameters estimation with adaptive neural network EKF for missile-dual control system

In this paper, a filtering method is presented to estimate time-varying parameters of a missile dual control system with tail fins and reaction jets as control variables. In this method, the long-short-term memory(LSTM) neural network is nested into the extended Kalman filter(EKF) to modify the Kalman gain such that the filtering performance is improved in the presence of large model uncertainties. To avoid the unstable network output caused by the abrupt changes of system states,an adaptive correction factor is introduced to correct the network output online. In the process of training the network, a multi-gradient descent learning mode is proposed to better fit the internal state of the system, and a rolling training is used to implement an online prediction logic. Based on the Lyapunov second method, we discuss the stability of the system, the result shows that when the training error of neural network is sufficiently small, the system is asymptotically stable. With its application to the estimation of time-varying parameters of a missile dual control system, the LSTM-EKF shows better filtering performance than the EKF and adaptive EKF(AEKF) when there exist large uncertainties in the system model.

Synthesis of multifunctional additives for solid propellants:Structure,properties and mechanism

To simplify the composite propellant formulation and address the current issue of the single-functionality present in existing additives,the multi-cyano,amine-based polybutadiene(AEHTPB-CN)was prepared based on AEHTPB by adopting appropriate synthesis *** replacing 10% of HTPB binder in the propellant formulation,it can effectively enhance the interfacial bond strength between the propellant binder matrix and solid fillers(AP(ammonium perchlorate)and RDX(cyclotrimethylene-trinitramine)),the mechanical properties of the HTPB/AP/RDX/Al propellant were superior to blank control propellant with an improvement of 35.4% in tensile strength,62.0% enhancement in elongation at break,and reduce the propellant burn rate by 10.7% with any energy *** function mechanism of AEHTPB-CN was systematically elucidated through experiments and computer simulation *** results show that the tertiary amine group in AEHTPB-CN can react with AP to form ammonium ionic bonds,and the hydroxyl and cyano groups can form hydrogen bonding interactions with AP,which enables AEHTPB-CN to be firmly adsorbed on the AP surface through chemical and physical *** RDX,the interfacial bonding effect of AEHTPB-CN is attributed to their ability to form C-H···N≡C weak hydrogen bonding interaction between the cyano group and RDX methylene group.
