Lead extraction from spent lead–acid battery paste in a molten Na2CO3 salt containing Zn O as a sulfur-fixing agent was studied. Some influencing factors, including smelting temperature, reaction time, Zn O and salt dosages, were investigated in detail using single-factor experiments. The optimum conditions were determined as follows: T = 880°C; t = 60 min; Na2CO3/paste mass ratio = 2.8:1; and the Zn O dosage is equal to the stoichiometric requirement. Under the optimum conditions, the direct recovery rate of lead reached 98.14%. The results suggested that increases in temperature and salt dosage improved the direct recovery rate of lead. XRD results and thermodynamic calculations indicated that the reaction approaches of lead and sulfur were Pb SO4→Pb and Pb SO4→Zn S, respectively. Sulfur was fixed in the form of Zn S, whereas the molten salt did not react with other components, serving only as a reaction medium.

A new hydrometallurgical process based on the methanesulfonic acid system was proposed to extract the bismuth efficiently from by-products of lead *** bismuth extraction process included electrorefining,oxidation leaching,and *** optimum conditions of the bismuth extraction process were determined by a single-factor *** bismuth plate with a purity of 99.8%was obtained under the optimum *** voltammetry and linear sweep voltammetry were applied to investigating the cathode reaction mechanism of *** results show that lead deposition,bismuth deposition,and hydrogen evolution occur at the cathode,and the reactions of metals deposition are irreversible and *** addition,decreasing the temperature and acidity can improve the purity of the cathodic product(lead powder)in the electrorefining process.

Hafnium ethoxide was synthesized using electrochemical *** experiments were used to optimizevarious parameters namely Et4NBr concentration(c):0.01?0.06mol/L,solution temperature(t):30?78°C,polar distance(D):2.0?4.0cm and current density(J):100?400A/*** electrolytic products obtained under optimum conditions of c=0.04mol/L,t=78°C,D=2.0cm and J=100A/m2were further isolated by vacuum distillation *** product was characterized byFourier transform infrared(FT-IR)spectra,nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)*** results indicated that the product washafnium *** analysis suggested that the content of hafnium ethoxide in the final product exceeded99.997%.Thermalproperties of the product were analyzed by TG/*** vaporization enthalpy of hafnium ethoxide was found to be79.1kJ/*** result confirmed that hafnium ethoxide was suitable for the preparation of hafnium oxide by atomic layer deposition.

In order to solve the problems of environment pollution and high cost in traditional process of bismuth subcarbonate preparation, a new process using ball-milling transformation method from NH4HCO3 and Bi2O3 was proposed. Additionally, the kinetics of bismuth subcarbonate preparation was studied. Effects of reaction temperature, particle size of bismuth oxide, solid-to-liquid ratio and concentrations of ammonium bicarbonate on the conversion rate of bismuth oxide were studied. The results indicate that the conversion rate of bismuth oxide significantly increased under the conditions of higher temperature, smaller particle size, higher concentration of ammonium bicarbonate and smaller solid-to-liquid ratio. The XRD and ICP-AES analyses show that the purity of product is high. The reaction kinetics with activation energy of 9.783 kJ/mol was analyzed by shrinking core model, and the whole transformation process is controlled by solid product layer diffusion. A semi-empirical kinetics equation was obtained to describe the conversion process.

The corrosion behaviors of hafnium in Et4NBr isopropanol and acetonitrile(ACN)solutions were investigated usingelectrochemical measurements,ICP-AES and SEM *** revealed that the open circuit potential gets more positive dueto the increased passivity of the surface oxide film with increasing immersion time until it reaches a steady state *** anodic polarization curves did not exhibit an active dissolution region near corrosion potential due to the presenceof an oxide film on the electrode surface,which was followed by pitting *** images confirmed the existence of pits onthe electrode *** voltammetry and galvanostatic measurements allowed the pitting potential(φpit)and the repassivationpotential(φp)to be determined.φpit increased with increasing potential scanning rate but decreased with increasing temperature,Br-concentration and ACN *** impedance spectra showed that the resistances of the solution and charge transferdecreased with the increase of ACN concentration.

Pulmonary hypertension(PH)due to left heart failure(HF)accounts for approximately half of PH cases *** has been demonstrated that PH is a frequent complication of HF but is difficult to recognize in its early stage because it is characterized by nonspecific symptoms including shortness of breath and decreased tolerance of ***,nearly all multicentric clinical trials targeting pulmonary circulation in PH-HF have reported negative results.1 Thus,there are no effective methods for diagnosing early PH,and the current treatment of PH-HF is insufficient.

Drought is one of the most serious abiotic stresses to land *** sense and respond to drought stress to survive under water *** have studied how plants sense drought stress,or osmotic stress caused by drought,ever since Charles Darwin,and gradually obtained clues about osmotic stress sensing and signaling in *** stress is a physical stimulus that triggers many physiological changes at the cellular level,including changes in turgor,cell wall stiffness and integrity,membrane tension,and cell fluid volume,and plants may sense some of these stimuli and trigger downstream *** this review,we emphasized water potential and movements in organisms,compared putative signal inputs in cell wall-containing and cell wall-free organisms,prospected how plants sense changes in turgor,membrane tension,and cell fluid volume under osmotic stress according to advances in plants,animals,yeasts,and bacteria,summarized multilevel biochemical and physiological signal outputs,such as plasma membrane nanodomain formation,membrane water permeability,root hydrotropism,root halotropism,Casparian strip and suberin lamellae,and finally proposed a hypothesis that osmotic stress responses are likely to be a cocktail of signaling mediated by multiple *** also discussed the core scientific questions,provided perspective about the future directions in this field,and highlighted the importance of robust and smart root systems and efficient source-sink allocations for generating future high-yield stress-resistant crops and plants.

The interaction between molten Na2CO3-Na Cl salt and Sb and the solubility of Sb in molten salt were investigated in the temperature range of 700-1000 °*** results show that the dissolution equilibrium of Sb in molten salt can be achieved in 3 h,and the amount of Sb dissolved in the melt decreases as the viscosity *** solubility limits in an eutectic mixture were determined as 5.42%,2.42%,0.75% and 0.68% at 700,800,900 and 1000 °C,respectively.A high temperature and appropriate content of Na Cl will decrease the dissolution of *** insoluble Sb was collected at the bottom of molten *** Sb dissolved on the surface of the molten salt is easily oxidized,whereas the Sb dissolved inside the molten salt is randomly distributed in terms of the form of metal Sb.
