Aphids are important agricultural pests,vectors of many plant viruses and have sophisticated relationships with symbiotic microorganisms.Abundant asymptomatic RNA viruses have been reported in aphids due to the application of RNA-seq,but aphid-virus interactions remain unclear.Bunyavirales is the most abundant RNA virus order,which can infect mammals,arthropods,and plants.However,many bunyaviruses have specific hosts,such as insects.Here,we discovered 18 viruses from 10 aphid species by RNA-seq.Importantly,a widespread presence bunyavirus,Aphid bunyavirus 1(ABV-1),was determined to have a wide host range,infecting and replicating in all 10 tested aphid species.ABV-1 may be transmitted horizontally during feeding on plant leaves and vertically through reproduction.In a comparison of the physiological parameters of ABV-1high and ABV-1low strains of pea aphid,higher ABV-1 titers reduced the total nymphal duration and induced the reproduction.Moreover,viral titer significantly affected the lipid and protein contents in pea aphids.In summary,we proposed that ABV-1 may have stable symbiont-like relationships with aphids,and these observations may provide a new direction for studying bunyaviruses in aphids and establishing a model for virus-aphid interactions.

Silks have various advantages compared with synthetic polymer fibers,such as sustainability,mechanical properties,luster,as well as air and humidity permeability.However,the functionalization of silks has not yet been fully developed.Functionalization techniques that retain or even improve the sustainability of silk production are required.To this end,a low-cost,effective,and scalable strategy to produce TCSs by integrating yarn-spinning and continuous dip coating technique is developed herein.TCSs with extremely long length(>10 km),high mechanical performance(strength of 443.1 MPa,toughness of 56.0 MJ m−3,comparable with natural cocoon silk),and good interfacial bonding were developed.TCSs can be automatically woven into arbitrary fabrics,which feature super-hydrophobicity as well as rapid and programmable thermochromic responses with good cyclic performance:the response speed reached to one second and remained stable after hundreds of tests.Finally,applications of TCS fabrics in temperature management and dynamic textile displays are demonstrated,confirming their application potential in smart textiles,wearable devices,flexible displays,and human–machine interfaces.Moreover,combination of the fabrication and the demonstrated applications is expected to bridge the gap between lab research and industry and accelerate the commercialization of TCSs.

The historical logics and geographical patterns of rural-urban governance in China

The advent of a mobile society has led to profound changes in China’s traditional rural-urban pattern and called for new strategies for urban and rural governance.Based on a macro perspective of temporal and spatial evolution,this study analyzes the historical logics of rural-urban governance,explores the geographical patterns of challenges in China’s rural-urban governance,and finally puts forward targeted strategies for rural-urban governance toward integrated and sustainable development in China.From the historical perspective,the urban originates from the rural,and the connotation of rural,that is,a regional-scale outlook,rural-urban relations,and sociocultural interaction,forms the traditional approach to rural-urban governance.China’s rural-urban governance has evolved from antagonism toward integration.In terms of theoretical development,the turn toward mobility is an important driving factor shaping and promoting the transformation of research focus on rural-urban governance.The mobility of urban and rural factors has especially in recent decades brought extensive challenges for governance,which are highlighted by the disintegration of the stability of rural and urban structures,growing regional disparities in rural education levels,and serious aging and hollowing crises in rural areas.We therefore propose that rural-urban governance should give sufficient consideration to the convergence of wider interests;realize social potential through institutional,cultural and spatial restructuring;and attach importance to collaborative development and governance.And the transfer of rural problems to urban areas should be paid attention to by rural-urban governance.This research enriches the knowledge regarding the logics and patterns of China’s rural-urban governance from an interdisciplinary perspective.It is also helpful in the promotion of rural-urban integration and sustainable development,especially at a time when the mobility of social factors between rural areas and urban areas increasingly challenges tradit

Carotenoids are important pigments in photosynthetic organisms where they play essential roles in photoreception and photoprotection.Chromochloris zofingiensis is a unicellular green alga that is able to accumulate high amounts of ketocarotenoids including astaxanthin,canthaxanthin and ketolutein when growing heterotrophically or mixotrophically with glucose as a carbon source.Here we elucidate the ketocarotenoid biosynthesis pathway in C.zofingiensis by analyzing five algal mutants.The mutants were shown to have a single nucleotide insertion or substitution in β-carotene ketolase(BKT) gene 1,which resulted in a lack of ketocarotenoid production in Cz-bktl-1,and decreased ketocarote noid co ntent in the other four mutants.These mutants accumulated much higher amounts of non-ketocarotenoids(β-carotene,zeaxanthin and lutein).Interestingly,the Cz-bktl-5 mutant synthesized 2-fold the ketolutein and only 1/30 of the canthaxanthin and astaxanthin as its parent strain,suggesting that the mutated BKT1 exhibits much higher activity in catalyzing lutein to ketolutein but lower activity in ketolating β-carotene and zeaxanthin.Mutant and WT BKT2 gene sequences did not differ.Taken together,we conclude that BKT1 is the key gene involved in ketocarotenoid biosynthesis in C.zofingiensis.Our study provides insight into the biosynthesis of ketocarotenoids in green algae.Furthermore,Cz-bktl mutants may serve as a natural source for the production of zeaxanthin,lutein,and β-carotene.

The pose accuracy of parallel manipulators(PMs)is a key index to measure their performance.Establishing the grav-ity-based kinetostatic model of a parallel robot provides an important basis for its error composition and accuracy improvement.In this paper,a kinetostatic modeling approach that takes real gravity distribution into consideration is proposed to analyze the influence of gravity on the infinitesimal twist and actuator forces of PMs.First,the duality of the twist screw and constraint wrenches are used to derive the gravity-attached constraint wrenches independent of the external load and the limb stiffness matrix corresponding to the kinematics-based constraint wrenches.Sec-ond,the gravity model of the mechanism is established based on the screw theory and the principle of virtual work.Finally,the analytical formulas of the infinitesimal twist and the actuator force of PMs are obtained,and the influences of the external load,platform gravity,and rod gravity on the stiffness of the mechanism are decoupled.The non-overconstrained 3RPS and overconstrained 2PRU-UPR PMs are taken as examples to verify the proposed method.This research proposes a methodology to analyze the infinitesimal deformation of the mechanism under the influence of gravity.

Objective To explore the role of extracellular vesicles(EVs)in the pathogenesis of glaucoma caused by E50K mutation.Methods A photoreceptor cell line,RGC-5,was transfected with empty plasmids and plasmids expressing wild-type(WT)optineurin(OPTN)or E50K OPTN to investigate the effects of OPTN glaucoma as well as to identify the role of EVs in glaucoma pathology.The RGC-5 cells were also stimulated with glutamate,and their viability was evaluated using flow cytometry or CCK-8 assay.EVs were extracted,labeled with PKH-26,and added into the medium for normal RGC-5 culture,and the status of the cells was observed thereafter.Results WT OPTN overexpression,E50K OPTN,and glutamate stimulation induced apoptosis of RGC-5 cells.However,when glutamate stimulation was used as an add-on treatment,the degree of apoptosis in WT OPTN-overexpressing RGC-5 cells was significantly lower than that in E50K OPTN-expressing and normal RGC-5 cells.The viability of normal RGC-5 cells was reduced when co-cultured with WT OPTN-overexpressing RGC-5 or E50K OPTN-overexpressing RGC-5.EVs released by the latter two transfected lines similarly reduced normal RGC-5 survival.Conclusion Our results indicate that WT OPTN overexpression may lead to photoreceptor apoptosis.However,overexpression also confers a degree of protection against high concentrations of extracellular glutamate.Additionally,EVs released by transfected RGC-5 cells may regulate the cell state.These findings may improve our understanding of the mechanisms of cell-cell interactions in pathological conditions,providing a basis for the use of EVs as novel targets for early diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma.

The free thermal vibration of functionally graded material(FGM) cylindrical shells containing porosities is investigated. Both even distribution and uneven distribution are taken into account. In addition, three thermal load types, i.e., uniform temperature rise(UTR), nonlinear temperature rise(NLTR), and linear temperature rise(LTR), are researched to explore their effects on the vibration characteristics of porous FGM cylindrical shells. A modified power-law formulation is used to describe the material properties of FGM shells in the thickness direction. Love’s shell theory is used to formulate the straindisplacement equations, and the Rayleigh-Ritz method is utilized to calculate the natural frequencies of the system. The results show that the natural frequencies are affected by the porosity volume fraction, constituent volume fraction, and thermal load. Moreover,the natural frequencies obtained from the LTR have insignificant differences compared with those from the NLTR. Due to the calculation complexity of the NLTR, we propose that it is reasonable to replace it by its linear counterpart for the analysis of thin porous FGM cylindrical shells. The present results are verified in comparison with the published ones in the literature.

Ocular artifacts in Electroencephalography(EEG)recordings lead to inaccurate results in signal analysis and process.Variational Mode Decomposition(VMD)is an adaptive and completely nonrecursive signal processing method.There are two parameters in VMD that have a great influence on the result of signal decomposition.Thus,this paper studies a signal decomposition by improving VMD based on squirrel search algorithm(SSA).It’s improved with abilities of global optimal guidance and opposition based learning.The original seasonal monitoring condition in SSA is modified.The feedback of whether the optimal solution is successfully updated is used to establish new seasonal monitoring conditions.Opposition-based learning is introduced to reposition the position of the population in this stage.It is applied to optimize the important parameters of VMD.GOSSA-VMD model is established to remove ocular artifacts from EEG recording.We have verified the effectiveness of our proposal in a public dataset compared with other methods.The proposed method improves the SNR of the dataset from-2.03 to 2.30.
