The influence of global warming on tropical cyclone(TC) intensity has been discussed extensively over the past decade and downscaling studies have been conducted by embedding high-resolution regional models in the large-scale environment derived from global warming experiments in previous *** theoretical models for TC movement and intensity,this downscaling study examines the impact of global warming on TC intensity in the western North Pacific basin with attention to the selection of climate models for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change(IPCC) fourth assessment *** contributions of SST,vertical wind shear and TC track change to TC intensity change are also *** synthetic TC activity in the study is simulated with motion and intensity models,respectively,while little change is assumed in TC formation due to uncertain predictions of regional changes in future TC *** downscaling models are first evaluated against the observations during 1965-1999,and then ten IPCC models are selected based on the TC intensity downscaled with the large-scale environments from their control *** an increase of 1.6-3.5 K in SST over the period 2.65-2.99,the TC peak intensity and the number of intense TCs are projected to increase by 14% and 66%,respectively,in agreement with previous *** is to say,it is likely that intense TC numbers in this region will increase in a warmer world unless the future TC frequency decreases considerable in the western North Pacific *** SST warming plays a dominant role in affecting TC intensity in most of the climate models,this study suggests that changes in vertical wind shear and prevailing tracks can have significant influence on TC intensity change,sometimes comparable to or even larger than the SST ***,changes in TC track and in vertical wind shear do not have the same systematic effect on TC intensity changes as SST does,increasing the uncertainty of the projection

Increasing tropical cyclone（TC） influence in the subtropical East Asia and decreasing TC activity in the South china Sea over the past decades have been previously *** singular value decomposition（SVD） of observational data and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change（IPCC） climate change simulations in the fourth assessment report shows that the observed TC track changes are linked to the leading SVD mode of global sea surface temperature（SST） warming and the associated changes in large-scale steering *** selected five IPCC models can generally simulate the leading mode in their ensemble control run and prediction,suggesting the possible persistence of the reported track changes by 2.40.

Influence of Future Tropical Cyclone Track Changes on Their Basin-Wide Intensity over the Western North Pacific: Downscaled CMIP5 Projections

The possible changes of tropical cyclone（TC） tracks and their influence on the future basin-wide intensity of TCs over the western North Pacific（WNP） are examined based on the projected large-scale environments derived from a selection of CMIP5（Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 5） models. Specific attention is paid to the performance of the CMIP5 climate models in simulating the large-scale environment for TC development over the WNP. A downscaling system including individual models for simulating the TC track and intensity is used to select the CMIP5 models and to simulate the TC activity in the *** assessment of the future track and intensity changes of TCs is based on the projected large-scale environment in the2. st century from a selection of nine CMIP5 climate models under the Representative Concentration Pathway 4.5（RCP4.5）scenario. Due to changes in mean steering flows, the influence of TCs over the South china Sea area is projected to decrease,with an increasing number of TCs taking a northwestward track. Changes in prevailing tracks and their contribution to basin-wide intensity change show considerable inter-model variability. The influences of changes in prevailing track make a marked contribution to TC intensity change in some models, tending to counteract the effect of SST warming. This study suggests that attention should be paid to the simulated large-scale environment when assessing the future changes in regional TC activity based on climate models. In addition, the change in prevailing tracks should be considered when assessing future TC intensity change.

The effect of climate change on tropical cyclone intensity has been an important scientific issue for a few *** theory and modeling suggest the intensification of tropical cyclones in a warming climate,there are uncertainties in the assessed and projected responses of tropical cyclone intensity to climate *** a few comprehensive reviews have already provided an assessment of the effect of climate change on tropical cyclone activity including tropical cyclone intensity,this review focuses mainly on the understanding of the effect of climate change on basin-wide tropical cyclone intensity,including indices for basin-wide tropical cyclone intensity,historical datasets used for intensity trend detection,environmental control of tropical cyclone intensity,detection and simulation of tropical cyclone intensity change,and some issues on the assessment of the effect of climate change on tropical cyclone *** addition to the uncertainty in the historical datasets,intertwined natural variabilities,the considerable model bias in the projected large-scale environment,and poorly simulated inner-core structures of tropical cyclones,it is suggested that factors controlling the basin-wide intensity can be different from individual tropical cyclones since the assessment of the effect of climate change treats tropical cyclones in a basin as a whole.

Isocitrate dehydrogenase(IDH)mutations frequently occur in lower-grade gliomas and secondary *** IDHs exhibit a gain-of-function activity,leading to the production of D-2.hydroxyglutarate(D-2.G)by reducing α-ketoglutarate(α-KG),a central player in metabolism and epigenetic ***,the role ofα-KG homeostasis in IDH-mutated gliomagenesis remains *** this study,we found that low expression of oxoglutarate dehydrogenase(OGDH)was a common feature in IDH-mutated gliomas,as well as *** low expression of OGDH resultedin the accumulation of α-KG and promoted astrocyte ***,IDH1 mutation significantly reducedα-KG levels and increased glutaminolysis and DNA/histone methylation in *** metabolic and epigenetic alterations inhibited astrocyte maturation and led to cortical dysplasia in ***,our results also indicated that reduced OGDH expression can promote the differentiation of glioma cells,while IDH1 mutations impeded the differentiation of glioma cells with low OGDH by reducing the accumulation ofα-KG and increasing ***,we found that l-glutamine increasedα-KG levels and augmented the differentiation-promoting effects of AGI5198,an IDH1-mutant inhibitor,in IDH1-mutant glioma ***,this study reveals that low OGDH expression is a crucial metabolic characteristic of IDH-mutant gliomas,providing a potential strategy for the treatment of IDH-mutant gliomas by targetingα-KG homeostasis.

Ion exchange is a promising synthetic method for alleviating severe cation mixing in traditional layered oxide materials for lithium-ion batteries,leading to enhanced structural ***,the underlying mechanisms of ion exchange are still not fully *** a fundamental study of the ion-exchange mechanism is needed for achieving the controllable synthesis of layered oxides with a stable ***,we thoroughly unearth the underlying mechanism that triggers the ion exchange of Ni-rich materials in aqueous solutions by examining time-resolved structural evolution combined with theoretical *** results reveal that the reaction pathway of ion exchange can be divided into two steps:protonation and *** proton is the key to achieving charge balance in the ion exchange process,as revealed by X-ray adsorption spectroscopy and inductive coupled plasma *** addition,the intermediate product shows high lattice distortion during ion exchange,but it ends up with a most stable product with high lattice *** apparent discrepancies in lattice energy between materials before and after ion exchange emphasize the importance of synthetic design in structural *** work provides new insights into the ion-exchange synthesis of Ni-rich oxide materials,which advances the development of cathode materials for high-performance lithium-ion batteries.

Decadal Variations of Intense Tropical Cyclones over the Western North Pacific during 1948–2.10

Using Joint Warning Typhoon Center （JTWC） best track data during the period 1948-2.10, decadal and interdecadal changes of annual category 4 and 5 tropical cyclone （TC） frequency in the western North Pacific basin were examined. By allowing all of the observed TCs in the JTWC dataset to move along the observed TC tracks in a TC intensity model, the annual category 4 and 5 TC frequency was simulated. The results agreed well with observations when the TC intensity prior to 1973 was adjusted based on time-dependent biases due to changes in measurement and reporting practices. The simulated and adjusted time series showed significant decadal （12.18 years） variability, while the interdecadal （18-32.years） variability was found to be statistically insignificant. Numerical simulations indicated that changes in TC tracks are the most important factor for the decadal variability in the category 4 and 5 TC frequency in the western North Pacific basin, while a combined effect of changes in SST and vertical wind shear also contributes to the decadal variability. Further analysis suggested that the active phase of category 4 and 5 TCs is closely associated with an eastward shift in the TC formation locations, which allows more TCs to follow a longer journey, favoring the development of category 4 and 5 TCs. The active phase corresponds with the SST warming over the tropical central and eastern Pacific and the eastward extension of the monsoon trough, thus leading to the eastward shift in TC formation locations.

Revised Singleton Failures Equivalence for Labelled Transition Systems

Based on previous researches, the set of all traces and Singleton failures(SF) pairs is used to characterize SF equivalence. Since the trace information can not be obtained from the SF information, the set of all SF pairs alone can not characterize SF equivalence. We propose a Revised version of singleton failures(RSF) pair, show that the set of all RSF pairs alone can characterize SF equivalence, RSF equivalence and SF equivalence are equivalent,and discuss the difference between RSF and SF. The main conclusion of this paper is that RSF equivalence algorithm is the most efficient one among all SF equivalence algorithms. We present several examples showing RSF equivalence algorithm is computationally quite efficient.

Major Modes of Short-Term Climate Variability in the Newly Developed NUIST Earth System Model(NESM)

A coupled earth system model（ESM） has been developed at the nanjing university of information science and technology（NUIST） by using version 5.3 of the European Centre Hamburg Model（ECHAM）, version 3.4 of the Nucleus for European Modelling of the Ocean（NEMO）, and version 4.1 of the Los Alamos sea ice model（CICE）. The model is referred to as NUIST ESM1（NESM1）. Comprehensive and quantitative metrics are used to assess the model＇s major modes of climate variability most relevant to subseasonal-to-interannual climate prediction. The model＇s assessment is placed in a multi-model framework. The model yields a realistic annual mean and annual cycle of equatorial SST, and a reasonably realistic precipitation climatology, but has difficulty in capturing the spring–fall asymmetry and monsoon precipitation domains. The ENSO mode is reproduced well with respect to its spatial structure, power spectrum, phase locking to the annual cycle, and spatial structures of the central Pacific（CP）-ENSO and eastern Pacific（EP）-ENSO; however, the equatorial SST variability,biennial component of ENSO, and the amplitude of CP-ENSO are overestimated. The model captures realistic intraseasonal variability patterns, the vertical-zonal structures of the first two leading predictable modes of Madden–Julian Oscillation（MJO）, and its eastward propagation; but the simulated MJO speed is significantly slower than observed. Compared with the T42.version, the high resolution version（T159） demonstrates improved simulation with respect to the climatology, interannual variance, monsoon–ENSO lead–lag correlation, spatial structures of the leading mode of the Asian–Australian monsoon rainfall variability, and the eastward propagation of the MJO.

Simple Method for Realizing Weil Theorem in Secure ECC Generation

How to quickly compute the number of points on an Elliptic Curve （EC） has been a longstanding challenge. The computational complexity of the algorithm usually employed makes it highly inefficient. Unlike the general EC, a simple method called the Weil theorem can be used to compute the order of an EC characterized by a small prime number, such as the Kobltiz EC characterized by two. The fifteen secure ECs recommended by the National Institute of Standards and technology （NIST） Digital Signature Standard contain five Koblitz ECs whose maximum base domain reaches 571 bits. Experimental results show that the computation speed decreases for base domains exceeding 600 bits. In this paper, we propose a simple method that combines the Weil theorem with Pascals triangle, which greatly reduces the computational complexity. We have validated the performance of this method for base fields ranging from 2.^100 to 2.1000. Furthermore, this new method can be generalized to any ECs characterized by any small prime number.
