Impact of volcanism on the formation and hydrocarbon generation of organic-rich shale in the Jiyang Depression, Bohai Bay Basin, China

Globally,most organic-rich shales are deposited with volcanic ash *** ash,a source for many sedimentary basins,can affect the sedimentary water environment,alter the primary productivity,and preserve the organic matter(OM)through physical,chemical,and biological *** an increasing number of breakthroughs in shale oil exploration in the Bohai Bay Basin in recent years,less attention has been paid to the crucial role of volcanic impact especially its influence on the OM enrichment and hydrocarbon ***,we studied the petrology,mineralogy,and geochemical characteristics of the organic-rich shale in the upper submember of the fourth member(Es_(4)^(1))and the lower submember of the third member(Es_(3)^(3))of the Shahejie Formation,aiming to better understand the volcanic impact on organic-rich shale *** results show that total organic carbon is higher in the upper shale intervals rich in volcanic ash with enriched light rare earth elements and moderate Eu *** indicates that volcanism promoted OM formation before or after the *** positive correlation between Eu/Eu*and Post-Archean Australian Shale indicates hydrothermal activity before the volcanic *** plane graph of the hydrocarbon-generating intensity(S1+S2)suggests that the heat released by volcanism promoted hydrocarbon ***,the nutrients carried by volcanic ash promoted biological blooms during Es_(4)^(1 )and Es_(3)^(3) deposition,yielding a high primary *** blooms consume large amounts of oxygen and form anoxic environments conducive to the burial and preservation of ***,this study helps to further understand the organic-inorganic interactions caused by typical geological events and provides a guide for the next step of shale oil exploration and development in other lacustrine basins in China.

We utilize molecular dynamics simulations to investigate the microstructures of ions and polyelectrolytes in aqueous solutions under external electric *** focusing on the multi-body interactions between ionic components and H_(2)O molecules,as well as their responses to the external electric fields,we clarify several nontrivial molecular features of the ionic and polyelectrolyte solutions,such as the solvations of cations and anions,clustering of the ions,and dispersions/aggregations of polyelectrolyte chains,as well as the corresponding responses of H_(2)O molecules in these *** simulations illustrate the variations in structures of ionic solutions caused by reversing the charge sign of the ions,and elucidate the disparity in structures between anionic and cationic polyelectrolyte solutions in the presence of the external electric *** work clarifies the mechanism for the alternations in complex multi-body interactions in aqueous solutions caused by the application electric field,which can contribute to the fundamental understanding of the physical and chemical natures of ion-containing and charged polymeric systems.

Drainage of paddy terraces impacts structures and soil properties in the globally important agricultural heritage of Hani Paddy Terraces,China

Marginalization and abandonment of paddy terraces are widespread,but their effects on the sustainability of subsequent agricultural production are still *** Paddy Terraces,included in Globally Important Agriculture Heritage Systems,are threatened by paddy fields ***,changes in terrace structure,the productivity of topsoil(0-20 cm),and soil water holding capacity at 0-70 cm depth were determined in a case study of Hani Paddy Terraces in Amengkong River Basin in Yuanyang County in Southwestern China,which had been converted into dryland terraces for 2-14 *** results showed that:(1)The degree of terrace structures degradation exhibited a U-shaped curve with increasing time since draining,with those drained for 5-9 years having the best structure;(2)Soil productivity index decreased first and then increased with time after conversion;(3)Maximum water holding capacity at 0-70 cm soil depth dramatically decreased after conversion and such trend became increasingly obvious with increasing time since *** study revealed that drainage of paddy terraces along with associated changes in crop and field management led to an increase in soil productivity,but degradation of terrace structures and a decrease in water holding capacity will inhibit restoration to paddy *** findings enhance the understanding of the biophysical changes due to marginalization in paddy terraces.

Currently,the enhancement in electromagnetic interference(EMI)performance of polymeric composite generally relies on either improving electrical conductivity(σ)for stronger electromagnetic(EM)reflections or tailoring structure for higher EM ***,we proposed a novel technique called cyclic pulsating pressure enhanced segregating structuration(CPP-SS),which can reinforce these two factors *** structural information was supplied by optical microscopy(OM)and scanning electron microscopy(SEM),both of which confirmed the formation and evolution of segregate structured ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene(UHMWPE)/graphene ***,the result showed that CPP-SS can significantly improve theσof ***,advanced specific EMI shielding efficiency of 31.1 d B/mm was achieved for UHMWPE/graphene composite at 1-mm thickness and a low graphene loading of 5 wt%.Meanwhile,it also confirmed that the intrinsic disadvantage of poor mechanical properties of conventional segregated structure composites can be *** work is believed to provide a fundamental understanding of the structural and performance evolutions of segregated structured composites prepared under CPPSS,and to bring us a simple and efficient approach for fabricating high-performance,strong and light-weight polymeric EMI shields.

Artemsieverolactones A—H,Eight Guaiane-Type Sesquiterpenoid Trimers from Artemisia sieversiana

Eight new guaiane-type sesquiterpenoid trimers,artemsieverolactones A—H,possessing unprecedented scaffolds via biocatalyzed[4+2]Diels−Alder cycloaddition reactions were identified from Artemisia *** structures were determined by comprehensive spectroscopic data,single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses,and ECD *** terms of structure,artemsieverolactones A—H are first examples of sesquiterpenoid trimers from guaiane-type sesquiterpenoid through four different[4+2]Diels−Alder cycloaddition *** fibrosis assay suggested that five compounds exhibited activity against HSC-LX2 with IC_(50)values ranging from 37.8 to 117.1μmol/*** most active artemsieverolactone B(2)displayed significant inhibitory activity against HSC-LX2 with IC_(50)value of 37.8μmol/L,which was 3 times more active than the positive drug silybin(IC_(50),139.7μmol/L).Preliminary mechanism study revealed that artemsieverolactone B could inhibit the deposition of human collagen typeⅠ(ColⅠ),human hyaluronic acid(HA),and human laminin(HL)with IC_(50)values of 40.4μmol/L(Col I),55.1μmol/L(HL),47.3μmol/L(HA),which was 2 to 3-fold more potent than silybin.

Coupling effect of cement-stabilization and biopolymer-modification on the mechanical behavior of dredged sediment

Nowadays,biopolymer stabilization as a promising eco-friendly approach in soft ground improvement has attracted wide ***,the feasibility of using biopolymer as a green additive of cementstabilized dredged sediment(CDS)with high water content is still *** this study,guar gum(GG)and xanthan gum(XG)were adopted as typical biopolymers,and a series of unconfined compressive strength(UCS),splitting tensile strength(STS)and scanning electron microscopy(SEM)tests were performed to evaluate the mechanical and microstructural properties of XG-and GG-modified CDSs considering several factors including biopolymer modification,binderesoil ratio and wateresolid ***,the micro-mechanisms revealing the evolutions of mechanical properties of biopolymermodified CDS were *** results indicate that the addition of XG can effectively improve the strength of CDS,while the GG has a side *** XG content of 9%was recommended,which can improve the 7 d-and 28 d-UCSs by 196%and 51.8%,together with the 7 d-and 28 d-STSs by 118.3%and 42.2%,*** the binderesoil ratio or decreasing the wateresolid ratio significantly improved the strength gaining but aggravated the brittleness characteristics of *** XG to CDS contributed to the formation of microstructure with more compactness and higher cementation degrees of ordinary Portland cement(OPC)-XG-stabilized DS(CXDS).The micro-mechanism models revealing the interactions of multiple media including OPC cementation,biopolymer film bonding and bridging effects inside CXDS were *** key findings confirm the feasibility of XG modification as a green and high-efficiency mean for improving the mechanical properties of CDS.

Plants produce secondary chemicals that may vary along with latitude due to changing abiotic and biotic stress gradients and local environmental *** apart the individual and combined effects of these different abiotic,such as soil nutrients,and biotic factors,such as soil biota and herbivores,on secondary chemicals is critical for understanding plant responses to changing *** conducted an experiment at different latitudes in China,using tallow tree(Triadica sebifera)seedlings sourced from a population at 31°*** seedlings were cultivated in gardens located at low,middle and high latitudes,with either local soil or soil from the original seed collection site(origin soil).The seedlings were exposed to natural levels of aboveground herbivores or had them *** secondary chemicals(both foliar and root),aboveground herbivores and soil characteristics were *** showed that most leaf and root secondary metabolites depended on the interaction of the experimental site and soil *** and root phenolic and tannin concentrations were higher at the middle latitude site,especially in the origin *** and foliar flavonoid concentrations increased when aboveground herbivores were *** communities depended strongly on soil *** different responses of tannins versus flavonoids suggest that these two chemical classes differ in their responses to the varying abiotic and biotic factors in these sites along *** together,our results emphasize the importance of considering the interactive effects of local environmental conditions,soil properties and herbivory in regulating plant chemical defenses.

Study on Effectiveness of Solitary-Wave-like Form Based on Overtopping Data from Irregular Wave Tests

The previous study conducted by li(2022)demonstrates that the Goda graph can be adequately represented by a solitary-wave-like form across the entire range of relative water depth,with the exception of the extremely shallow ***,it remains uncertain whether this form is equally effective when applied to test data generated by irregular waves,as the Goda graph was initially developed based on overtopping data from regular wave ***,it is unclear whether this form is suitable for formulating overtopping discharge at composite vertical *** order to address these questions,a 2D overtopping experiment was conducted,incorporating both simple and composite types of vertical walls,with various relative water depths across the entire range,excluding the extremely shallow zone.A novel analysis procedure was developed,which proved to be highly productive and can be considered a general method for data ***,the study yielded two conclusions:(1)the solitary-wave-like form is remarkably effective in formulating overtopping test data generated by irregular waves,regardless of whether the vertical wall is simple or composite,and(2)the resulting formulas exhibit definitely better performance compared with existing formulas.

Joint Sample Position Based Noise Filtering and Mean Shift Clustering for Imbalanced Classification Learning

The problem of imbalanced data classification learning has received much *** classification algorithms are susceptible to data skew to favor majority samples and ignore minority *** weighted minority oversampling technique(MWMOTE)is an effective approach to solve this problem,however,it may suffer from the shortcomings of inadequate noise filtering and synthesizing the same samples as the original minority *** this end,we propose an improved MWMOTE method named joint sample position based noise filtering and mean shift clustering(SPMSC)to solve these ***,in order to effectively eliminate the effect of noisy samples,SPMsC uses a new noise filtering mechanism to determine whether a minority sample is noisy or not based on its position and distribution relative to the majority *** that MWMOTE may generate duplicate samples,we then employ the mean shift algorithm to cluster minority samples to reduce synthetic replicate ***,data cleaning is performed on the processed data to further eliminate class *** on extensive benchmark datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of SPMsC compared with other sampling methods.

Preparation of NiTip/Al composites with controllable phase transformation and damping behavior by friction stir processing

The NiTip/1060Al composites were prepared using a pre-aging and friction stir method(FSP)to enhance the low-temperature damping performance of the aluminum alloy and accommodate various service *** bonding between NiTi particles and the 1060Al matrix is well established after FSP,and no new phases are formed in the *** phasetransformation peak temperature of NiTip/1060Al composites gradually shifts to lower temperatures with increased aging temperature of NiTi *** room temperature,the 550℃-NiTip/1060Al composite exhibits superior damping performance,with an internal friction value 144%higher than that of the FSP-1060Al ***,at-91℃,the 650℃-NiTip/1060Al composite demonstrates better damping performance,with an internal friction value 158%higher than that of the FSP-1060Al *** NiTip/1060Al composites exhibit the internal friction peak of NiTi phase-transformation in the temperature range from-91℃to 60℃.This characteristic results in significantly better damping performance compared to the FSP-1060Al alloy and other high-damping aluminum matrix composites.
