The crosstalk between signaling and metabolic pathways has been known to play key roles in human diseases and plant biological *** integration of signaling and metabolic pathways can provide an essential reference framework for crosstalk ***,current databases use distinct structures to present signaling and metabolic pathways,which leads to the chaos in the integrated ***,for the metabolic pathways,the metabolic enzymes and the reactions are disconnected by the current widely accepted layout of edges and nodes,which hinders the topological analysis of the integrated ***,we propose a novel“meta-pathway”structure,which uses the uniformed structure to display the signaling and metabolic pathways,and resolves the difficulty in linking the metabolic enzymes to the reactions *** compiled a comprehensive collection of global integrative networks(GINs)by merging the meta-pathways of 7077 *** demonstrated the assembly of the signaling and metabolic pathways using the GINs of four species—human,mouse,Arabidopsis,and *** all of the nodes were assembled into one major network for each of the four species,which provided opportunities for robust crosstalk and topological analysis,and knowledge graph construction.

Green manure cover crops(GMCCs)planting has a potential for mitigating greenhouse gas emissions(GHG)in agroecosystems and provides important ecosystem services,thereby achieving the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs)stipulated by the United ***,the advantages of cultivating GMCCs on arable land are not widely *** example,in the whole of China,the GMCCs planting area is less than 3.5%of total arable *** aim of this study is to explore reasons for the low adoption rate of GMCCs *** best–worst scaling(BWS)approach,farmers ranked their preferred conservation practices including three types of GMCC cropping *** Gansu Province in Northwest China as a case study,a survey with 276 farmers was *** findings indicated that three factors are related to the low adoption rate of GMCCs:1)farmers preferred improving farmland irrigation facilities and substituting chemical fertilizers with organic rather than planting GMCCs;2)lack of awareness and understanding of government policy on GMCCs and limited access to training courses;3)financial support and subsidies from the government are *** study provides insights and strategic implications for policymakers on how to further promote GMCCs in the future.

A new model-free method has been developed and termed the landscape dynamic network biomarker(l-DNB) methodology. The method is based on bifurcation theory, which can identify tipping points prior to serious disease deterioration using only single-sample omics data. Here, we show that l-DNB provides early-warning signals of disease deterioration on a single-sample basis and also detects critical genes or network biomarkers(i.e. DNB members) that promote the transition from normal to disease states. As a case study, l-DNB was used to predict severe influenza symptoms prior to the actual symptomatic appearance in influenza virus infections. The l-DNB approach was then also applied to three tumor disease datasets from the TCGA and was used to detect critical stages prior to tumor deterioration using an individual DNB for each patient. The individual DNBs were further used as individual biomarkers in the analysis of physiological data, which led to the identification of two biomarker types that were surprisingly effective in predicting the prognosis of tumors. The biomarkers can be considered as common biomarkers for cancer, wherein one indicates a poor prognosis and the other indicates a good prognosis.

The thorium molten salt reactor–liquid fuel(TMSR-LF1) has inherent safety features. The accident occurrence possibility and their consequences are much lower for the TMSR-LF1 than that of traditional *** on accident analysis, the maximum credible accident and the radioactive source terms of the TMSR-LF1 were first estimated. Then, the total effective dose of the maximum credible accident was calculated. Based on calculations, the cover gas flow rate can significantly affect the radiation consequences of the maximum credible accident when it changes from 0 to 10 L/min. If no cover gas is flowing, a site-area emergency would be required within the range of 50–73 m from the reactor. In the case of cover gas flow, only an abnormal notification and an alert two emergency class would be required within the range of 50 m.

Upward propagation of lightning-generated whistler waves into the radiation belts

Lightning-generated whistler(LGW) waves which induce energetic electron precipitation provide an important coupling between the ionosphere and radiation belts. Using the ray-tracing technique, we examine the propagation behaviour of LGW waves and show that they can travel upward into the radiation belts during higher geomagnetic activities due to the plasmapause inward compression, particularly in cases of lower wave frequencies, lower wave normal angles and azimuthal angles. Both perpendicular and parallel group velocities of LGW waves remain in relatively small values inside the plasmasphere but change rapidly to high values outside the plasmasphere. The launching latitude increases with increasing LGW wave normal angle. These results here further reveal a detailed picture on how LGW waves escape out of the plasmasphere and onto the radiation belts.

A hexagonal nanosheet Mg(OH)2 coating was prepared through a one-step hydrothermal method using LiOH solution as mineralizer and then modified by ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid(EDTA) to minimize the rapid corrosion of AZ31 Mg *** performance of the coating was evaluated using electrochemical technique,hydrogen evolution measurements, nanoscratch test,Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR), X-ray diffraction(XRD) patterns and field-emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM).The results suggested that the corrosion rate of bare AZ31 Mg alloys was significantly reduced by one and two orders of magnitude through the protection from Mg(OH)2 coating and modification with EDTA(i.e., EDTA-Mg(OH)2 coating), *** micrographs indicated that the modification in EDTA elicits to the formation of an EDTA-Mg(OH)2 composite with a thickness as twice as that of as-prepared Mg(OH)2 *** tests revealed strong adhesion between the composite or Mg(OH)2 coating and the *** study of formation and corrosion mechanisms of the coatings manifested that Mg(OH)2 was first formed near the intermetallic compound AlMn particles and gradually covered the entire surface, wherein the AlMn particles played an important role in the coating growth *** it also proved that EDTA accelerated the formation of Mg(OH)2.
