Aluminum phosphate(AlPO_(4))was used to modify the surface of LiNi_(1/3)Co_(1/3)Mn_(1/3)O_(2)(NCM)cathode *** surface structure and electrochemical properties of the coated materials were investigated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS).The results confirm the formation of aluminum-containing solid solution on the surface of NCM *** aluminum phosphate coating blocks the Li+insertion-extraction process in cells charged at high rates at room temperature,increasing surface film resistance and decreasing discharge ***,an aluminum phosphate aids the formation of a stable solid electrolyte interface film on NCM surface and stabilizes the Rct of cell as samples electrochemically cycled at 55℃.The electrochemical studies suggest that the initial columbic efficiency is significantly *** NCM sample coated with 1.0 wt%AlPO_(4) delivers a higher discharge capacity and shows excellent capacity retention ability.

Objective To investigate the clinical characteristics and treatment strategy of lower extremity arterial occlusive disease in patients with Crohn's disease (CD). Methods Clinical information of 9 cases suffering from lower extremity arterial occlusion and CD was investigated retrospectively. Results All the cases were less than 50 years old and the most were females (8/9). Arterial occlusions occurred in either active (5/9) or inactive (4/9) stage of CD. Besides the arteries of lower extremities, other arteries could also be involved such as aorta, iliac artery, renal artery or mesentery artery. Seven cases had atherosclerotic imaging findings (4 had aortic plaques and 6 had iliac artery stenoses). Embolectomy or thromboendarterectomy were mostly performed. Four (44.4%) cases had recurrent lower limb ischemia. Conclusions Arterial occlusive disease is a rare extraintestinal manifestation of CD. A thorough inspection of aorta is necessary. Embolectomy is mostly preferred. Anticoagulation treatment is highly recommended after the operation.

Background：To evaluate the feasibility of a new surgeon-modified iliac branch device （IBD） technique to maintain pelvic perfusion in the management of common iliac artery （CIA） aneurysm during endovascular aneurysm repair （EVAR）.Methods：From January 2011 to December 2013,a new surgeon-modified IBD technique was performed in department of vascular surgery of Peking Union Medical College Hospital in five patients treated for CIA aneurysm with or without abdominal aortic aneurysm.A stent-graft limb was initially deployed in vitro,anastomosed with vascular graft,creating a modified IBD reloaded into a larger sheath,with or without a guidewire preloaded into the side *** reloaded IBD was then placed in the iliac artery,with a covered stent bridging internal iliac artery and the ***,a bifurcated stent-graft was deployed,and a limb device was used to connect the main body and ***：Technical successes were obtained in all *** mean follow-up length was 24 months （range：6-38 months）.All grafts remained patent without any sign of *** were no aneurysm ruptures,deaths,or other complications related to pelvic ***：Using the surgeon-modified IBD to preserve pelvic flow is a feasible endovascular technique and an appealing solution for personalized treatment of CIA aneurysm during EVAR.

Objective To construct the zinc finger protein-activating transcription factor (ZFP-ATF) plasmid and evaluate its efficacy in inducing vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) expression in ***926 endothelial cells. Methods Firstly, we constructed the ZFP-ATF plasmid, then testified the quantity of VEGF protein in ***926 endothelial cells after transfected with ZFP-ATP plasmid by Western blot, finally, we used the RT-PCR to testify whether the ZFP-ATF can stimulate expression of VEGF splice variants. Results The ZFP-ATF DNA sequences were located the multiclone sites of PVAX1 vector between the site of BamH Ⅰ and Xhol. Western blot result showed VEGF expression in ***926 endothelial cells transfected with ZFP-ATF plasmid was significantly higher than that in cells transfected with VEGF165 (19.95±3.95 vs. 12.15±1.55 μg/μL, P<0.01). RT-PCR result showed VEGF-A mRNA expression level induced by ZFP-ATF was high than that induced by VEGF165. Conclusion ZFP-ATF can up-regulate the VEGF-A expression in comparison with VEGF165, which might have beneficial effects in angiogenesis process.

Objective To investigate vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) and its signaling pathway spontaneous response in type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM) mice to surgery-induced hind-limb *** Sixty mice were randomly divided into two groups,one was fed with normal chow as control,and another was fed with high fat diet to induce *** weeks later,mice were surgically induced to hind-limb *** flow restoration was monitored with laser Doppler perfusion *** anterior muscle was collected after 3 days of hind-limb *** mRNA and protein expressions were analyzed using real-time PCR and ELISA;expressions of VEGF downstream signal molecules and receptors were analyzed using Western blotting and RT-PCR,*** Perfusion recovery 10,20,30 days after ischemia was significantly attenuated in T2DM compared with control group(P<0.05).T2DM impaired VEGF signaling pathway although VEGF levels increased in T2DM *** ischemia,T2DM group had a comparable increase in VEGF expression compared with control group,but still had an impaired VEGF signaling *** VEGF signaling pathway is abnormal in T2DM mice,although VEGF had a response to the ischemic stimulation.

Nitrogen-doped carbon materials have been widely used for the constructions of single-atom catalysts,while the effect of different species of doped nitrogen on the catalytic activity of CO_(2) electroreduction has rarely been *** we found that pyrrolic-N coordinated Ni2+catalysts display much higher electrocatalytic CO_(2)-to-CO activity and selectivity than the corresponding pyridinic-N coordinated low valent Ni^((0–+2))catalysts,and pyrrolic-N coordinated Ni2 dual-atoms catalyst of Ni2/N-CNTs exhibits the best electrocatalytic performance,with over 90%Faradaic efficiencies in a broad potentials from−0.6 to−1.2 V *** hydrogen electrode,as well as an outstanding CO specific current of 56.2 A/mgNi and high turnover frequency of 6.2×10^(4) h^(−1),over 7-times higher than those of pyridinic-N coordinated Ni *** results indicate the weak electron-donor nature of pyrrolic-N facilitates the generation of a reduced active site at low overpotential for boosting CO_(2) *** functional theory calculations reveal that the reaction free energy for the*COOH formation on pyrrolic-N coordinated Ni catalysts are lower than those on pyridinic-N coordinated Ni catalysts,and a H_(2)Oadsorbed Ni_(2)/N-CNTs displays the optimized reaction free energy for both*COOH formation and CO desorption,which derive the best catalytic performance.

Efficacy of Surgical Therapy for Carotid Body Tumors

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of surgical therapy for carotid body tumors. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted, covering the diagnosis, surgical procedure, postoperative complications, and prognosis of 120 cases of carotid body tumors in Peking Union Medical College Hospital from 1949 to May, 2011. Results Surgical excision was successfully performed in 111 cases with 117 tumors. In all those cases, 50 underwent simple tumor resection, 42 underwent resection of tumors and ligation of the external carotid arteries, 7 underwent co-resection of tumors and common carotid arteries, internal carotid arteries, as well as external arteries without vascular reconstruction, and the other 12 cases experienced tumor resection and vascular reconstruction as internal carotid arteries were involved. After operation, 3 cases developed cerebral infarction, 30 cases showed cranial nerve palsy, including 15 cases of hypoglossal nerve damage, 10 cases of vagus paralysis, and 5 cases of Horner's syndrome. Conclusion It is essential to make a proper surgical strategy, which can reduce postoperative com- plications.

The Argentine shortfin squid Illex argentinus is an economically important short-lived species widely distributed in the southwest Atlantic *** abundance and distribution of *** are associated with climate change and environmental *** potential distribution of *** was modeled with various environmental variables including sea surface temperature(SST),sea surface height(SSH),chlorophyll a,sea surface salinity(SSS),net primary productivity(NPP),mixed layer depth(MLD),eddy kinetic energy(EKE),and photosynthetically active radiation(PAR)using the maximum entropy(MaxEnt)approach during the peak fishing seasons(January–April).The habitat suitability index(HSI)was defined as the probability of species emergence from the MaxEnt model and the area of HSI≥0.6 was regarded as *** indicate that the predicted habitat correlated with the actual fishing position,with similar trends in the percentages of suitable habitats and catch per unit effort(CPUE)of *** from January to ***,SST,SSH,PAR,and MLD were identified critical environmental variables for the distribution of *** addition,the median of preferred ranges of the critical environmental variables were concentrated within the suitable habitats of *** Area under the Receiver Operating Characteristic Curve(AUC)was greater than 0.96 for all four *** in latitudinal and longitudinal gravity centers(LATG and LONG)of fishing effort were consistent with latitudinal and longitudinal gravity centers(LATG_H and LONG_H)of the *** findings suggest that the MaxEnt model is an effective tool to predict the potential distribution of ***,SST,SSH,PAR,and MLD should be given with more extensive attention in predicting the potential distribution of ***,as they are important environmental indicators that can help decision-makers search for the fishing ground of *** in the Southwest Atlantic.
