Effect of initial microstructure on microstructure evolution and mechanical properties of 0.12C martensitic steels during quenching and tempering

The microstructure evolution and mechanical properties of a Fe-0.12C-0.2Si-1.6Mn-0.3Cr-0.0025B(wt.%)steel with different initial microstructures,i.e.,hot rolled(HR)and cold rolled-annealed(CRA),were studied through optical microscopy,scanning electron microscopy,electron channeling contrast imaging,microhardness and room temperature uniaxial tensile *** water quenching from 930℃ to room temperature,a fully martensitic microstructure was obtained in both as-quenched HR and CRA specimens,which shows a microhardness of 480±5 HV,and no significant difference in microstructure and microhardness was *** test results show that the product of tensile strength and total elongation(UTS×TE)of the as-quenched HR specimen,i.e.,24.1 GPa%,is higher than that of the as-quenched CRA specimen,i.e.,18.9 GPa%.While,after being tempered at 300℃,the martensitic microstructures and mechanical properties of the two as-quenched specimens change significantly due to the synergy role of the matrix phase softening and the precipitation *** the maximum UTS×TE,it is 18.9 GPa%obtained in the as-quenched CRA one,while that is 24.4 GPa%obtained in the HR specimen after tempered at 300℃ for 5 min.

The incidence of in-hospital cardiac arrest (IHCA) has increased over the past decade,with more than half occurring in intensive care units (ICUs).^([1])ICU cardiac arrest (ICU-CA)presents unique challenges,with worse outcomes than those in monitored wards,highlighting the need for early detection and intervention.^([2])Up to 80%of patients exhibit signs of deterioration hours before IHCA.^([3])Although early warning scores based on vital signs are useful,their eff ectiveness in ICUs is limited due to abnormal physiological parameters.^([4])Laboratory markers,such as sodium,potassium,and lactate,are predictive of poor outcomes,^([5])but static measurements may not capture the patient’s *** in laboratory indicators,such as variability and extremes,may offer better predictive value.^([6])This study aimed to evaluate ICU-CA predictive factors,with a focus on vital signs and trends of laboratory indicators.

Single-atom catalysts（SACs） have attracted considerable interest in the fields of energy and environmental science due to their adjustable catalytic *** this study,we investigated the matching of valence electron numbers between single atoms and adsorbed intermediates（O,N,C,and H） in MXene-anchored SACs（M-Ti2C/M-Ti2CO2）.The density functional theory results demonstrated that the sum of the valence electron number（VM） of the interface-doped metal and the valence electron number（VA） of the adsorbed intermediates in M-Ti2C followed the 10-valence electron matching ***,based on the 10-valence electron matching law,we deduced that the sum of the valence electron number（k） and VMfor the molecular adsorption intermediate interactions in M-Ti2CO2adhered to the 11-valence electron matching *** repulsion between the interface electrons in M-Ti2CO2and H2O weakened the adsorption of intermediates,Furthermore,we applied the 11-valence electron matching law to guide the design of catalysts for nitrogen reduction reaction,specifically for N2→ NNH conversion,in the *** sure independence screening and sparsifying operator algorithm was used to fit a simple three-dimensional descriptor of the adsorbate（R2up to 0.970） for catalyst *** study introduced a valence electron matching principle between doped metals（single atoms） and adsorbed intermediates（atomic and molecular） for MXene-based catalysts,providing new insights into the design of high-performance SACs.

Improving neuroblastoma risk prediction through a polygenic risk score derived from genome-wide association study-identified loci

Objective: Neuroblastoma is the most common extracranial solid tumor in children and has complex genetic underpinnings. Previous genome-wide association studies(GWASs) have identified many loci associated with neuroblastoma susceptibility; however, their application in risk prediction for Chinese children has not been systematically explored. This study seeks to enhance neuroblastoma risk prediction by validating these loci and evaluating their performance in polygenic risk ***: We validated 35 GWAS-identified neuroblastoma susceptibility loci in a cohort of Chinese children,consisting of 402 neuroblastoma patients and 473 healthy controls. Genotyping these polymorphisms was conducted via the TaqMan method. Univariable and multivariable logistic regression analyses revealed the genetic loci significantly associated with neuroblastoma risk. We constructed polygenic risk models by combining these loci and assessed their predictive performance via area under the curve(AUC) analysis. We also established a polygenic risk scoring(PRS) model for risk prediction by adopting the PLINK ***: Fourteen loci, including ten protective polymorphisms from CASC15, BARD1, LMO1, HSD17B12, and HACE1, and four risk variants from BARD1, RSRC1, CPZ and MMP20 were significantly associated with neuroblastoma risk. Compared with single-gene model, the 8-gene model(AUC=0.72) and 13-gene model(AUC=0.73) demonstrated superior predictive performance. Additionally, a PRS incorporating six significant loci achieved an AUC of 0.66, effectively stratifying individuals into distinct risk categories regarding neuroblastoma susceptibility. China's Three-North Protective Forest Program(TNP) is the world's most ambitious afforestation project(ongoing from 1978 to 2050), which aims to increase forest coverage through afforestation and reforestation, protect agriculture, reduce soil erosion, and control desertification. Although TNP has been ongoing for 45 years, its rationales and effects remain uncertain. Here, we conducted a rangewide assessment of TNP by analyzing data from >10,000 scenes of satellite images and >50,000 field survey plots. The TNP range and definitions of shelterbelts, arboreal forests, and shrublands were changed during the study period, but we used the initial TNP range(4.07 million km2) and the definitions in 1978 for keeping the consistency, comparability, and comprehensiveness. The TNP increased forest coverage from 5.05% in 1978 to 9.69% in 2022, with arboreal forests, shrublands, and shelterbelts increasing by 42.5%, 184.4%,and 53.6%, respectively. However, only 40.1% of the 471,113 km2afforested area was established between 1978 and 2022. The wellestablished shelterbelts improved crop yield by 4.3%-9.5%, but only 10.2% of all the farmlands in TNP regions(TNR) were protected. The total area of soil erosion due to hydraulic forces was reduced by 447,363 km2, with 61% of this reduction attributed to TNP. TNP contributed to the reduction of desertification by 15%, largely due to the low rate of afforestation success and the largely decreased grasslands. The total carbon sequestration from TNP was 1.96 Pg C. Moreover, water storage in TNR showed a decreasing trend, but the contribution rate of TNP was only 7.8%. Our results illustrate that forestry eco-engineering projects are feasible in the management and restoration of arid and semi-arid degraded lands, but attention must be paid to fully considering the ecological carrying capacity of water resources, matching the species to sites, strengthening the post-afforestation management, as well as keeping the balances between composit
