Contrast-enhanced ultrasonographic findings of hepatic paragonimiasis

AIM: To investigate the features of hepatic paragonimiasis on contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) imag- ing. METHODS: Fifteen patients with hepatic paragonimiasis who were admitted to our hospital between March 2008 and August 2012 were enrolled to this study. The conventional ultrasound and CEUS examinations were performed with a Philips IU22 scanner with a 1-5-MHz convex transducer. After conventional ultrasound scanning was completed, the CEUS study was performed. Pulse inversion harmonic imaging was used for CEUS. A bolus injection of 2.4 mL of a sulfur hexafluoride-filled microbubble contrast agent (SonoVue) was administered. CEUS features were retrospectively reviewed and correlated with pathological findings. RESULTS: In total, 16 lesions were detected on CEUS. The mean size of the lesions was 4.4 ± 1.6 cm (range, 1.7-6.6 cm). Subcapsular location was found in 12 lesions (75%). All the lesions were hypoechoic. Six lesions (37.5%) were of mixed content, seven (43.8%) were solid with small cystic areas, and the other three (18.8%) were completely solid. Ten lesions (62.5%) were rim enhanced with irregular tract-like nonenhanced internal areas. Transient wedge-shaped hyperenhancement of the surrounding liver parenchyma was seen in seven lesions (43.8%). Areas with hyperor iso-enhancement in the arterial phase showed contrast wash-out and appeared hypoenhanced in the late phase. The main pathological findings included: (1) coagulative or liquefactive necrosis within the lesion, infiltration of a large number of eosinophils with the formation of chronic eosinophilic abscesses and sporadic distribution of Charcot-Leyden crystals; and (2) hyperplasia of granulomatous and fibrous tissue around the lesion. CONCluSION: Subcapsular location, hypoechogenicity, rim enhancement and tract-like nonenhanced areas could be seen as the main CEUS features of hepatic paragonimiasis.

Pyrrolic nitrogen coordinated Ni^(2+) dual-atom catalyst for boosting CO_(2) electroreduction

Nitrogen-doped carbon materials have been widely used for the constructions of single-atom catalysts,while the effect of different species of doped nitrogen on the catalytic activity of CO_(2) electroreduction has rarely been *** we found that pyrrolic-N coordinated Ni2+catalysts display much higher electrocatalytic CO_(2)-to-CO activity and selectivity than the corresponding pyridinic-N coordinated low valent Ni^((0–+2))catalysts,and pyrrolic-N coordinated Ni2 dual-atoms catalyst of Ni2/N-CNTs exhibits the best electrocatalytic performance,with over 90%Faradaic efficiencies in a broad potentials from−0.6 to−1.2 V *** hydrogen electrode,as well as an outstanding CO specific current of 56.2 A/mgNi and high turnover frequency of 6.2×10^(4) h^(−1),over 7-times higher than those of pyridinic-N coordinated Ni *** results indicate the weak electron-donor nature of pyrrolic-N facilitates the generation of a reduced active site at low overpotential for boosting CO_(2) *** functional theory calculations reveal that the reaction free energy for the*COOH formation on pyrrolic-N coordinated Ni catalysts are lower than those on pyridinic-N coordinated Ni catalysts,and a H_(2)Oadsorbed Ni_(2)/N-CNTs displays the optimized reaction free energy for both*COOH formation and CO desorption,which derive the best catalytic performance.

The formation of an embedded electron current sheet within the magnetotail plasma sheet has been poorly *** this article,we present an electron current layer detected at the edge of the magnetotail plasma *** ions were demagnetized inside the electron current layer,but the electrons were still frozen in with the magnetic field ***,this decoupling of ions and electrons gave rise to a strong Hall electric field,which could be the reason for the formation of the embedded thin current *** magnetized electrons,the absence of the nongyrotropic electron distribution,and negligible energy dissipation in the layer indicate that magnetic reconnection had not been triggered within the embedded thin current *** highly asymmetric plasma on the two sides of the current layer and low magnetic shear across it could suppress magnetic *** observations indicate that the embedded electric current layer,probably generated by the Hall electric field,even down to electron scale,is not a sufficient condition for magnetic reconnection.

Carbon dots (CDs),due to their low cost,high stability,and high luminous efficiency,have emerged as an excellent material for the emissive layer in next-generation electroluminescent light-emitting diodes(ELEDs).However,improving the efficiency of fluorescent CDs-based ELEDs remains challenging,primarily because it is difficult to utilize triplet excitons in the electroluminescence ***,enhancing the exciton utilization efficiency of CDs during electroluminescence is *** on this,we exploited the characteristic large exciton binding energy commonly found in CDs to develop exciton-emitting *** CDs facilitate the radiative recombination of excitons during electroluminescence,thereby improving the electroluminescent *** rationally selecting precursors,we developed high quantum efficiency CDs and subsequently constructed CDs-based *** blue-light device exhibited an external quantum efficiency of over 4%.This study introduces a novel design concept for CDs,providing a new strategy for developing high-performance blue ELEDs based on CDs.

Unified Bandwidth Scheduling in Centralized Fixed Access Network(C-FAN)

Time Division Multiplexing-Passive Optical Networks(TDM-PONs)play a vital role in Fiberto-the-Home(FTTH)*** improve the service quality of home networks,FTTH is expanding to the Fiber-to-the-Room(FTTR)scenario,where fibers are deployed to connect individual rooms(i.e.,Fiber In-premises Network(FIN)in the ITU-T G.9940 standard).In this scenario,a point-to-multipoint(P2MP)fiber network is deployed as FTTR FIN to offer gigabit access to each room,which forms a two-tier cascaded network together with the FTTH *** optimize the capacity utilization of the cascaded network and reduce the overall system cost,a centralized architecture,known as Centralized Fixed Access Network(C-FAN),has been introduced.C-FAN centralizes the medium access control(MAC)modules of both the FTTH and FTTR networks at the FTTH’s Optical line Terminal(OLT)for unified control and management of the cascaded *** develop a unified bandwidth scheduling protocol by extending the ITU-T PON standard for both the upstream and downstream directions of *** also propose a unified dynamic bandwidth allocation(UDBA)algorithm for efficient bandwidth allocation for multiple traffic flows in the two-tier cascaded *** are conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed control protocol and the UDBA *** results show that,in comparison to the conventional DBA algorithm,the UDBA algorithm can utilize upstream bandwidth more efficiently to reduce packet delay and loss,without adversely impacting downstream transmission performance.

Effects of different water levels on phytoplankton in the Harbin section of the Songhua River

The functional diversity index of a phytoplankton body has gradually become a new mean of measuring and *** explore the response of phytoplankton taxonomy and the functional diversity index to interannual environmental changes,a survey on the structure of the phytoplankton community and water physicochemical characteristics of the water was carried out at 28 sampling points in the Harbin section of the Songhua River for three consecutive years in every May from 2021 to *** taxonomy diversity index and the functional diversity index were ***,The relationship between the structure of the characteristics of the community and environmental factors was explored;secondly,we reveal the responses of taxonomic and functional diversity indices to different habitats between years;finally,we explore the main environmental factors that control the taxonomic and functional diversity indices of *** show that,initially,environmental factors in water changes caused by different water levels between years affected the composition of phytoplankton ***,by comparing the taxonomic diversity index and the functional diversity index on a time scale,we found that the taxonomic diversity index was more responsive to environmental ***,the main environmental factors on the phytoplankton taxonomic diversity index were dissolved oxygen,Taxonomic diversity index,and specific conductivity,and the main environmental factors that affected the functional diversity index were dissolved oxygen,turbidity,and water *** study reveals the important role of the taxonomic diversity index in river water quality evaluation,obtained new information on the relative precision of the taxonomic diversity index and the functional diversity index in the evaluation of ecological health of the water,and provided a reliable tool for monitoring river water quality based on aquatic organisms.

Electronic modulation towards MOFs as template derived CoP via engineered heteroatom defect for a highly effcient overall water splitting

The reasonable design of material morphology and eco-friendly electrocatalysts are essential to highly efficient water *** is proposed that a promising strategy effectively regulates the electronic structure of the d-orbitals of CoP using cerium doping in this paper,thus significantly improving the intrinsic property and conductivity of CoP for water *** a result,the as-synthesize porous Ce-doped CoP micro-polyhedron composite derived from Ce-ZIF-67 as bifunctional electrocatalytic materials exhibits excellent electrocatalytic performance in both the oxygen evolution reaction（OER） and the hydrogen evolution reaction（HER）,overpotentials of about 152 mV for HER at 10 mA cm-2and about 352 mV for OER at 50 mA cm-2,and especially it shows outstanding long-term ***,an alkaline electrolyzer,using Ce0.04Co0.96P electrocatalyst as both the anode and cathode,delivers a cell voltage value of1.55 V at the current density of 10 mA *** calculation results of the density functional theory（DFT）demonstrate that the introduction of an appropriate amount of Ce into CoP can enhance the conductivity,and can induce the electronic modulation to regulate the selective adsorption of reaction intermediates on catalytic surface and the formation of O*intermediates（CoOOH）,which exhibits an excellent electrocatalytic *** study provides novel insights into the design of an extraordinary performance water-splitting of the multicomponent electrocatalysts.

CO_(2)-mediated bicarbonate conversion to concentrated formate in a CEM-based electrolyzer

Renewable energy-driven bicarbonate conversion to valuable chemicals presents an attractive strategy for mitigating CO_(2)emissions,as bicarbonate can be efficiently generated from the capture of atmospheric CO_(2)using alkaline solutions with reactive *** this work,we present a CO_(2)-mediated bicarbonate conversion to pure formate using a cation exchange membrane-based electrolyzer with a 25 cm^(2)electrode *** electrolysis achieved selectivities exceeding 75%for formate at a total current of 2.5 A,achieving formate concentrations up to 1.2 M and yields as high as 95%over extended *** techno-economic assessment confirmed the economic viability of the process,highlighting the potential for bicarbonate electrolysis as a sustainable method for producing valuable chemicals.
