Efficacy comparison between Mathieu combined urethral plate incision and onlay island flap urethroplasty for distal hypospadias in patients with urethral plate stenosis

The aim of the study was to compare the efficacy of Mathieu combined urethral plate incision(Mathieu-IP)versus onlay island flap urethroplasty in patients with distal hypospadias complicated by urethral *** clinical data of 70 patients with distal hypospadias complicated by urethral plate stenosis treated in the Department of Urology,Anhui Provincial Children’s Hospital(Hefei,China),from May 2019 to May 2022,were retrospectively ***-eight patients underwent Mathieu-IP(Mathieu-IP group)and 32 underwent onlay island flap urethroplasty(Onlay group).Follow-ups at 1 month,6 months,and 12 months postoperatively assessed operative time,complications,urethral meatus morphology,and family *** Mathieu-IP group had significantly shorter operative time(mean±standard deviation[s.d.]:81.58±5.18 min)versus the Onlay group(mean±s.d.:110.75±6.05 min;P0.05).Complications were comparable between the *** Mathieu-IP group resulted in a vertical slit-shaped urethral meatus in 89.5%versus 13.8%in the Onlay group(P<0.05).Family satisfaction with general penile appearance and skin shape showed no significant differences,but the Mathieu-IP group had higher satisfaction with meatal position(P<0.05).Mathieu-IP offers simplicity,safety,and shorter operative time compared to *** the techniques effectively treat urethral plate stenosis in distal hypospadias,with reduced postoperative complications compared to tubularized incised plate ***-IP results in a vertical slit-shaped urethral meatus which enhances urinary stream,indicating its potential for broader adoption.

Acute central nervous system injuries,including ischemic stro ke,intracerebral hemorrhage,subarachnoid hemorrhage,traumatic brain injury,and spinal co rd injury,are a major global health *** optimal therapies and improving the long-term neurological functions of patients with acute central nervous system injuries are urgent *** are susceptible to damage after acute central nervous system injury,and this leads to the release of toxic levels of reactive oxygen species,which induce cell ***,a selective form of autophagy,is crucial in eliminating redundant or damaged mitochondria during these *** evidence has highlighted the significant role of mitophagy in acute central nervous system *** this review,we provide a comprehensive overview of the process,classification,and related mechanisms of *** also highlight the recent developments in research into the role of mitophagy in various acute central nervous system injuries and drug therapies that regulate *** the final section of this review,we emphasize the potential for treating these disorders by focusing on mitophagy and suggest future research paths in this area.

High Fe‑Loading Single‑Atom Catalyst Boosts ROS Production by Density Effect for Efficient Antibacterial Therapy

The current single-atom catalysts(SACs)for medicine still suffer from the limited active site ***,we develop a synthetic method capable of increasing both the metal loading and mass-specific activity of SACs by exchanging zinc with *** constructed iron SACs(h^(3)-FNC)with a high metal loading of 6.27 wt%and an optimized adjacent Fe distance of~4 A exhibit excellent oxidase-like catalytic performance without significant activity decay after being stored for six months and promising antibacterial ***,a“density effect”has been found at a high-enough metal doping amount,at which individual active sites become close enough to interact with each other and alter the electronic structure,resulting in significantly boosted intrinsic activity of single-atomic iron sites in h^(3)-FNCs by 2.3 times compared to low-and medium-loading ***,the overall catalytic activity of h^(3)-FNC is highly improved,with mass activity and metal mass-specific activity that are,respectively,66 and 315 times higher than those of commercial Pt/*** addition,h^(3)-FNCs demonstrate efficiently enhanced capability in catalyzing oxygen reduction into superoxide anion(O_(2)·^(−))and glutathione(GSH)*** in vitro and in vivo assays demonstrate the superior antibacterial efficacy of h^(3)-FNCs in promoting wound *** work presents an intriguing activity-enhancement effect in catalysts and exhibits impressive therapeutic efficacy in combating bacterial infections.

Lipid levels and insulin resistance markers in patients with colorectal cancer:Propensity score matching analysis

BACKGROUND Colorectal cancer(CRC)is a prevalent malignant neoplasm characterized by subtle early *** To investigate the correlation among serum lipid profiles,the triglyceride-glucose(TyG)index,and the atherosclerotic index(AI)in patients with ***,it explored the clinical diagnostic utility of combining serum lipids with cancer antigens in the context of *** A retrospective analysis encompassed 277 patients with CRC and 1034 healthy *** Following propensity score matching,patients with CRC exhibited significantly reduced levels of serum triglyceride(TG),total cholesterol(TC),high-density lipoprotein cholesterol,and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C),as well as a diminished TyG ***,they displayed elevated AI levels compared to their healthy *** in advanced stages exhibited lower serum levels of TG,TC,and LDL-C compared to those in early *** with positive lymph node metastasis demonstrated reduced levels of TG,LDL-C,and the TyG *** operating characteristic analysis revealed that the combination of the TyG index,carcinoembryonic antigen,and carbohydrate antigen 19-9 yielded the highest positive prediction rate for CRC at 75.3%.CONCLUSION Preoperative serum lipid profiles exhibit a robust association with patients with *** concurrent assessment of multiple serum lipids and cancer antigens effectively enhances the diagnostic accuracy for CRC.

Chemomechanical Properties of Electrospun Polyvinyl Acetate(PVAc)Fiber Mat and its Application in Water-Triggered Self-folding

Environmental-stimulus-triggered self-folding mechanisms have found promising applications in many engineering ***,a water-activated self-folding procedure has been designed by using the electrospun polyvinyl acetate(PVAc)fiber mat which contains high tensile residual stresses in the vitrified fibers during the spinning *** water permeation initiates plasticization of PVAc fiber mat and leads to a material *** water diffusion starts at the top surface of a PVAc sheet,a shrinkage variation along the diffusion pathway forms a bending hinge on the sheet,which has been demonstrated in 3D origami *** capture the water-triggered plasticization mechanism and chemomechanical coupling deformation compatibility,a consistent finite deformation viscoplastic model is developed for the PVAc fiber mat under coupled chemomechanical loading *** residual stress and‘fixed’strain are modeled through the unrecoverable plastic strain in the PVAc fiber *** water permeates into the PVAc fiber mat,the induced increase in mixing entropy lowers the glass transition temperature of the material,and results in a gradual relaxation of the fixed viscoplastic strain.A non-Fickian diffusion model suitable for glassy material is adopted to capture the water permeation in the PVAc fiber *** calibrated and validated by a series of experiments,the proposed model is implemented in ABAQUS software to simulate the water-activated self-folding of PVAc *** numerical example for a typical origami design suggests a promising engineering application prospect.

A New Parameter Extraction Method for Schottky Barrier Diodes

A new parameter extraction method for Schottky barrier diodes is provided in this *** the current model of Schottky barrier diodes is a nonlinear self-consistent equation, the nonlinear inconsistent equations set is composed of nonlinear model equations under different biases. The problem of solving nonlinear inconsistent equations set is transformed into an optimization problem. The global optimal solution of the parameters is obtained by genetic algorithm. Comparing with experimental data, the results indicate that the error of the method proposed by this paper is lower than that of Cheung method.

Microbiologically Induced Corrosion of X80 Pipeline Steel in a Near-Neutral pH Soil Solution

MIC of X80 pipeline steel in a near-neutral pH soil solution in the presence and absence of sulfate-reducing bacteria（SRB） was monitored by electrochemical techniques and microbiological tests. The results show that soil solution is more close to the complex soil environment around pipeline. The activity of SRB leads to the shift of the phase response to low frequency, the decrease of electrolyte resistance and the alteration of dielectric constant of the film. Both the activity and metabolite of SRB influence the corrosion behavior of the steel. The steel surface undergoes localized attack in the SRB-inoculated soil solution, whereas only slight uniform corrosion occurs in the sterile soil solution.

In swept-source optical coherence tomography(SSOCT),the swept-source stimulates system by a series of wavelengths in time sequence;a photo detector then collects all reflected/backscattered light from testing sample as the components of Fourier *** to the nature of the SSOCT,the processing in spectral domain can merge multiple swept-sources with different central wavelengths,which greatly increases the resolution of the OCT *** the wavelength probing OCT,a standard broadband SSOCT system is used to extract the internal structure of the sample,and another narrow band light can be used to probe the spectral feature of the sample at the probing wavelength.
