Risk factors for delirium after surgery for craniocerebral injury in the neurosurgical intensive care unit

BACKGROUND Postoperative delirium is common in patients who undergo neurosurgery for craniocerebral ***,there is no specific medical test to predict postoperative delirium to *** To explore risk factors for postoperative delirium in patients with craniocerebral injury in the neurosurgery intensive care unit(ICU).METHODS A retrospective analysis was performed in 120 patients with craniocerebral injury admitted to Hainan People’s Hospital/Hainan Hospital Affiliated to Hainan Medical University,The First Affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical University,and The Second Affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical University between January 2018 and January *** patients were categorized into groups based on whether delirium *** them,25 patients with delirium were included in the delirium group,and 95 patients without delirium were included in the observation *** regression analysis was used to explore the association between sex,age,educational level,Glasgow coma scale(GCS),complications(with or without concussion,cerebral contusion,hypoxemia and ventricular compression)and site of injury and *** The GCS score above 8 and concomitant disease of cerebral concussion,cerebral contusion,hypoxemia and ventricular compression,and damage to the frontal lobe were associated with delirium in patients admitted to neurosurgical intensive care unit(ICU)(all P<0.05).However,age,sex,administration more than three medicines,and educational level were not significantly associated with the onset of delirium in patients with craniocerebral injury in the neurosurgical ICU(P<0.05).Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that GCS score above 8,cerebral concussion,cerebral contusion,hypoxemia,ventricle compression,and frontal lobe disorders were independent risk factors for delirium in patients with craniocerebral injury in the neurosurgical ICU(P<0.05).CONCLUSION GCS score,concussive concussion,cerebral contusion,hypoxemia,ventricle compr

Generic Modeling and Control Framework for Power Systems Dominated by Power Converters Connected Through a Passive Transmission and Distribution Grid

In this paper,a compact mathematical model having an elegant structure,together with a generic control framework,are proposed for generic power systems dominated by power converters that are interconnected through a passive transmission and distribution(T&D)grid,by adopting the port-Hamiltonian(pH)systems theory and the fundamental circuit *** models of generic T&D lines are developed and then the model of a generic T&D grid is *** the proposed control framework,the controlled converters are proven to be passive and Input-to-State Stable(ISS).The compact mathematical model is scalable and can be applied to power systems with multiple power electronic converters with generic passive controllers,passive local loads,and different types of passive T&D lines connected in a meshed configuration without self-loops,so it is very ***,the resulting power system is proven to be ISS as *** analysis is carried out without assumptions on constant frequency/voltage,constant loads,and/or lossless networks,except the need of passivity for all parts involved,and without using the Clarke/Park transformations or the graph *** simplify the presentation,three-phase balanced systems are adopted but the results can be easily adapted for single-phase or unbalanced three-phase systems.

Dynamin like protein 1 participated in the hemoglobin uptake pathway of Plasmodium falciparum

Background During the blood stage of malaria infection, parasites internalize in the host red blood cells and degrade massive amounts of hemoglobin for their development. Although the morphology of the parasite＇s hemoglobin uptake pathway has been clearly observed, little has been known about its molecular mechanisms. Methods The recombinant proteins from Plasmodium falciparum, dynamin like protein 1 （PfDYN1） and 2 （PfDYN2） GTPase domain, were expressed in E .coil and showed GTPase activity. By using a dynamin inhibitor, dynasore, we demonstrated the involvement of PfDYN1 in the hemoglobin uptake pathway. Results The GTPase activity of the two recombinant proteins was inhibited by dynasore in vitro. Treatment of parasite cultures with 80 μmol/L dynasore at the ring and early trophozoite stage resulted in substantial inhibition of parasite growth and in an obvious decline of hemoglobin quantum. Furthermore, reduced intracellular hemozoin accumulation and decreased uptake of the FITC-dextran were also observed, together with distinctive changes in the ultrastructure of parasites after the dynasore treatment. Conclusions Our results show that PfDYN1 plays an important role in the hemoglobin uptake pathway of P. falciparum and suggest its possibility of being a novel target for malaria chemotherapy.

Super-high bed sintering for iron ores:behaviors,causes and solutions of horizontal segregation on strand

Horizontal segregation has been a constraint to the development and application of super-high bed *** eliminate the horizontal segregation of super-high bed sintering,several typical sintering machines were sampled and analyzed,and theoretical calculation was made to compare the bed depth and their differences in different areas within the mixture ***,solutions were proposed and applied to a 265 m^(2) sintering *** results showed that the horizontal seg-regation of the 265 m^(2) sintering machine was dominated by particles larger than 8 mm with horizontal segregation degree of 0.48,while 360 and 550 m^(2) sintering machines were affected by 5-8 mm and 1-3 mm particles with horizontal segregation degree of 0.27 and 0.31,*** analysis indicated the different segregation distribution results from the matching of the bed depth of each area within the mixture ***,the horizontal segregation degree not larger than 0.06 was achieved by optimizing the time parameters and the division of three zones on the 265 m^(2) sintering machine.

Effect of interplanetary magnetic field B_(x)on the polar electrojets as observed by CHAMP and Swarm satellites

Based on 16 years of magnetic field observations from CHAMP and Swarm satellites,this study investigates the influence of the Interplanetary Magnetic Field(IMF)Bx component on the location and peak current density of the polar electrojets(PEJs).We find that the IMF Bx displays obvious local time,seasonal,and hemispherical effects on the PEJs,as follows:(1)Compared to other local times,its influence is weakest at dawn and dusk.(2)In the midnight sectors of both hemispheres,the IMF Bx tends to amplify the westward PEJ when it is0 in the Southern Hemisphere;this effect is relatively stronger in the local winter hemisphere.(3)At noontime,the IMF Bx intensifies the eastward current when it is0,it reduces the westward current;this effect is notably more prominent in the local summer hemisphere.(4)Moreover,the noontime eastward current shifts towards higher latitudes,while the midnight westward current migrates towards lower latitudes when IMF Bx is0 in the Southern Hemisphere.

The inhomogeneous sinter properties in super-high bed sintering have been reported in our previous *** inves-tigate the reasons for the inhomogeneous phenomena,detailed sampling and analysis of mixed material bed and sintered bed in super-high bed sintering plant were *** results indicated that the higher porosity and thinner dendrite of silico-ferrite of calcium and aluminum in the upper layer as well as dense structure and higher secondary hematite content in the lower layer led to the heterogeneities of mechanical strength and reduction properties exceeding 20%and 10%,*** the bed top downward,the basicity of mixed material decreased from 2.13 to 1.68 because the average particle size increased from 2.65 to 4.56 *** and fuels gathered in finer particles(-3 mm)of mixed material,and the-3 mm particles of mixed material generated more liquid phase than+3 mm *** heat input of super-high sintering bed was inhomogeneous due to the heat accumulation effect and unreasonable fuel *** inhomo-geneous sintering heat condition in sintering bed resulted in the different quantities and properties of liquid *** inhomogeneous quantities and properties of liquid phase that were influenced by inhomogeneous distribution of chemical composition,particle size,and heat input led to inhomogeneous mineralizing *** mineralizing condition is the key for homogeneous super-high bed sintering.

Super-high bed sintering process is an important development direction of iron ore sintering for its lower emission and higher ***,there is a lack of deep understanding of the uneven quality of super-high bed sintering products,and the deterioration of reduction disintegration performance,the thickening of hearth layer and the reduction in energy-saving effect are perplexing enterprises and *** ascertain the problems of super-high bed sintering,ten sintering machines with the areas of 265,280,360,550 and 660 m^(2)and bed depth above 900 mm were sampled and *** results showed that problems were mainly shown in the unevenness of chemical composition,macrostructure,mechanical strength and metallurgical *** chemical composition exhibits severe segregation in both horizontal and vertical directions,with basicity segregation reaching as high as *** uneven macrostructure of sinter is reflected in a 10%difference in porosity and mechanical strength increase in 16%–19%along the vertical *** reducibility and reduction disintegration performance gradually deteriorate along the bed depth,with a difference of 10.5%in reducibility and 7.3%in RDI−0.5 mm(reduction disintegration index of sinter with size smaller than 0.5 mm).

Measurement of bloodflow velocity is key to understanding physiology and pathology in *** most measurements are performed at the middle of the blood vessel,little research has been done on characterizing the instantaneous bloodflow velocity *** is mainly due to the lack of measurement technology with high spatial and temporal ***,we tackle this problem with our recently developed dual-wavelength line-scan third-harmonic generation(THG)imaging *** acquisition of dual-wavelength THG line-scanning signals enables measurement of bloodflow velocities at two radially symmetric positions in both venules and arterioles in mouse brain in *** results clearly show that the instantaneous bloodflow velocity is not symmetric under general conditions.

On-machine tool setting is a pivotal approach in achieving intelligent manufacturing,and laser tool setters have become a crucial component of smart machine *** tool setters play a crucial role in precisely measuring the dimensions of cutting tools during the part machining process,focusing on tool length and *** a measuring instrument,the positions of the laser axis of the laser tool setter need to be accurately calibrated before ***,in actual calibration scenarios,traditional calibration methods face challenges due to installation errors in the tool setter and geometric errors in the measuring *** address this issue,this study proposes a novel calibration ***,the calibration mechanism of the laser beam axis is *** on the accurate mathematical model of the laser beam and the measuring rod,and using the polygon clipping algorithm,the mathematical mechanism of the laser tool setter’s work is ***,a novel method is introduced to calculate the compensation distance between the laser beam reference point and the rod bottom center point at each moment during ***,by utilizing the kinematic chain of the tool setter calibration system,a new calibration method is developed to accurately calibrate the position of the laser beam axis in the machine tool coordinate ***,the accuracy of the calibration method is verified through simulation experiments and calibration *** method improves the calibration accuracy of the tool setter,and the mathematical model of the laser tool setter can be extended to the measurement of tools,thereby improving the precision of tool *** research significantly improves the efficient production performance of smart machine tools.

Anomalous response to creep deformation from dislocation density during electrically assisted creep aging

Adding numerous dislocations into metallic materials before the forming stage significantly enhances their deformability. However, this beneficial effect of dislocation defects may not have a simple monotonic relationship with increased dislocation density during electroplastic deformation. This is due to the complex interactions among the drifting electrons, dislocations and solute atoms. This study explores the effect of diverse initial dislocation densities on creep deformation during electrically aided creep aging of an aluminum–lithium alloy. Surprisingly, we discovered a threshold value for the dislocation density that affects electroplastic creep, i.e., an enhanced effect from dislocations weakens when exceeding this density threshold(an anomalous response to creep). Microstructural data also reveal that such an anomalous response originates mainly from differences in various dislocation density-tailored configurations, which can influence the dislocation motions and precipitation kinetics of the strengthening T1precipitates under the same action of pulsed currents. This study provides important insights into the dislocation density-mediated electroplastic creep of an aluminum–lithium alloy.
