Additive manufacturing ofβ-type titanium alloy is expected to replace Ti-6Al-4V alloy in the field of orthopedic implantation because of their low elastic modulus,excellent corrosion resistance,and biocompatibility.After briefly introducing the laser powder bed fusion(LPBF)process and physical phenomena,this paper reviews the recent progresses in LPBF-edβ-type Ti alloys.The strategies to strengthening and tougheningβ-type Ti alloys are critically reviewed.This is followed by the processing routes employed to achieve to low modulus for orthopedic applications,especially a new methodology for tailoring crystallographic orientation called multi-track coupled directional solidification.The effect of processing and compositions on performance metrics ofβ-type Ti alloys included corrosion behavior,and biocompatibility is reviewed.In the end,challenges in additive manufacturing ofβ-type Ti alloys in future are highlighted,with the aim to ensue clinical application of LPBF-edβ-type Ti alloys.

The tapetum,a crucial innermost layer encompassing male reproductive cells within the anther wall,plays a pivotal role in normal pollen development.The transcription factors (TFs) bHLH010/089/091 redundantly facilitate the rapid nuclear accumulation of DYSFUNCTIONAL TAPETUM 1,a gatekeeper TF in the tapetum.Nevertheless,the regulatory mechanisms governing the activity of bHLH010/089/091 remain unknown.In this study,we reveal that caffeoyl coenzyme A O-methyltransferase 1 (CCoAOMT1) is a negative regulator affecting the nuclear localization and function of bHLH010 and bHLH089,probably through their K259 site.Our findings underscore that CCoAOMT1 promotes the nuclear export and degradation of bHLH010 and bHLH089.Intriguingly,elevated CCoAOMT1 expression resulted in defective pollen development,mirroring the phenotype observed in bhlh010 bhlh089 mutants.Moreover,our investigation revealed that the K259A mutation in the bHLH089 protein disrupted its translocation from the nucleus to the cytosol and impeded its degradation induced by CCoAOMT1.Importantly,transgenic plants with the probHLH089::bHLH089^(K259A)construct failed to rescue proper pollen development or gene expression in bhlh010 bhlh089 mutants.Collectively,these findings emphasize the need to maintain balanced TF homeostasis for male fertility.They firmly establish CCoAOMT1 as a pivotal regulator that is instrumental in achieving equilibrium between the induction of the tapetum transcriptional network and ensuring appropriate anther development.

The metal-based additive manufacturing(AM),also referred to as metal 3D printing,has drawn particular interest because it enables direct creation,aided by computationally-directed path design,of intricate components with site-specific compositions and geometrical requirements as well as low buy-to-fly ratios.During the last two decades,the objective of this revolutionary technology has been shifting from only“rapid prototyping”to advanced manufacturing of special high-end products or devices,which,in many aspects,outperform conventional manufacturing technologies.For fusion-based AM,significant progress has been achieved in understanding the processing window of macroscopic scales,non-equilibrium metallurgy of mesoscale scales,and grain evolution of microscopic scales.Although the versatile capacity of AM facilitates new avenues for discovering advanced materials and structures,their potential has still not been fully explored.Given the unique non-equilibrium solidification during the AM process,coarse columnar grains with strong textures are usually developed along the build direction,which downgrades the mechanical performance.To push the limits of this digital manufacturing,this review attempts to provide in-depth and comprehensive overviews of the recent progress in understanding the evolution and control of the as-built microstructure that has been made recently and the challenges encountered during the AM process.

In actual physiological environments,bacteria can activate the immune system and release lactic acid.However,the detailed contribution of lactic acid to the passivation behavior of titanium(Ti)alloys is still unclear.The current work investigated the in vitro passivation behavior of Ti-6Al-4V(TC4)alloys fabricated by laser powder bed fusion in Hank's solution with and without adding lactic acid.Electrochemical methods,inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometer,and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy were jointly used.Adding lactic acid decreases the corrosion resistance of samples by degrading the formed passive film.The film formed in the(lactic acid)-containing solution exhibits a higher level of oxygen vacancies and a lower thickness,attributed to the suppressed formation of Ti^(4+)transformed from Ti^(3+)and Ti^(2+).Moreover,the presence of lactic acid would increase the open circuit potential,relieve the ions release,and hinder the deposition of calcium phosphates within 24 h immersion.

BACKGROUND Colorectal cancer(CRC)plays a significant role in morbidity,mortality,and economic cost in the Belt and Road Initiative(“B and R”)countries.In addition,these countries have a substantial consumption of processed meat.However,the burden and trend of CRC in relation to the consumption of a diet high in processed meat(DHPM-CRC)in these“B and R”countries remain unknown.AIM To analyze the burden and trend of DHPM-CRC in the“B and R”countries from 1990 to 2019.METHODS We used the 2019 Global Burden of Disease Study to collate information regarding the burden of DHPM-CRC.Numbers and age-standardized rates(ASRs)of deaths along with the disability-adjusted life years(DALYs)were determined among the“B and R”countries in 1990 and 2019.Using joinpoint regression analysis,the average annual percent change(AAPC)was used to analyze the temporal trends of age-standardized DALYs rate(ASDALR)from 1990 to 2019 and in the final decade(2010–2019).RESULTS We found geographical differences in the burden of DHPM-CRC among“B and R”countries,with the three highest-ranking countries being the Russian Federation,China,and Ukraine in 1990,and China,the Russian Federation,and Poland in 2019.The burden of DHPM-CRC generally increased in most member countries from 1990 to 2019(all Pchanges in 1990-2019 and the final decade(2010-2019)for most Maritime Silk Route memb

Photon-lattice(phonon)coupling is fundamental to light-matter interaction,particularly when it reaches the quantum limit of the phonon-coupled single-photon emission,which holds great potential for quantum manipulation and quantum information transduction.Here,we report single defect state-phonon coupling in hexagonal boron nitride(h BN)at room temperature.An ultrabroad spectrum of single-photon emissions can be achieved by selecting the excitation energies.Using photoluminescence excitation spectroscopy,we observe single-phonon-assisted resonance-enhanced single-photon emission,along with multiple phonon replicas that herald the creation of phonon Fock state.We also develop a transition model to gain insight into the physical process behind the single defect state-phonon coupling.Our work sets the stage for manipulating electron-phonon coupling state with single quantum-level precision at room temperature.

A concentric gravity wave event was captured by a photographer in NagarzêCounty(90.28°N,28.33°E)between 02:00 and 04:00(local time)on May 11,2019.This concentric gravity wave event was also observed by the Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership satellite and the all-sky airglow imager at Yangbajing station(90.5°E,30.1°N).The temporal and spatial information on gravity waves from the photographs provided a rare opportunity to study the propagation of gravity waves over the Tibetan Plateau.According to wind and temperature data from the MERRA-2 reanalysis(Modern-Era Retrospective analysis for Research and Applications,Version 2)and empirical models(NRLMSISE-00[Naval Research Laboratory Mass Spectrometer and Incoherent Scatter Radar Exosphere]and HWM[horizontal wind model]),we inversely derived the propagation trajectory from the observed wave pattern to the source region by using the ray-tracing method.The source of the concentric gravity wave was identified as deep convection in Bangladesh(90.6°E,25.0°N).The maximum background wind speed in the propagation direction(31.05 m/s)was less than the phase speed of 53 m/s,which is consistent with the wind-filtering theory.

BACKGROUND B56εis a regulatory subunit of the serine/threonine protein phosphatase 2A,which is abnormally expressed in tumors and regulates various tumor cell functions.At present,the application of B56εin pan-cancer lacks a comprehensive analysis,and its role and mechanism in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)are still unclear.The Cancer Genome Atlas,Genotype-Tissue Expression,Gene Expression Profiling Interactive Analysis,and Tumor Immune Estimation Resource databases were used to analyze B56εexpression,prognostic mutations,somatic copy number alterations,and tumor immune characteristics in 33 tumors.The relationships between B56εexpression levels and drug sensitivity,immuno-therapy,immune checkpoints,and human leukocyte antigen(HLA)-related genes were further analyzed.Gene Set Enrichment Analysis(GSEA)was performed to reveal the role of B56εin HCC.The Cell Counting Kit-8,plate cloning,wound healing,and transwell assays were conducted to assess the effects of B56εinterference on the malignant behavior of HCC cells.RESULTS In most tumors,B56εexpression was upregulated,and high B56εexpression was a risk factor for adrenocortical cancer,HCC,pancreatic adenocarcinoma,and pheochromocytoma and paraganglioma(all P<0.05).B56εexpression levels were correlated with a variety of immune cells,such as T helper 17 cells,B cells,and macro-phages.There was a positive correlation between B56εexpression levels with immune checkpoint genes and HLA-related genes(all P<0.05).The expression of B56εwas negatively correlated with the sensitivity of most chemotherapy drugs,but a small number showed a positive correlation(all P<0.05).GSEA analysis showed that B56εexpression was related to the cancer pathway,p53 downstream pathway,and interleukin-mediated signaling in HCC.Knockdown of B56εexpression in HCC cells inhibited the proliferation,migration,and invasion capacity of tumor cells.Core Tip:The expression of protein phosphatase 2A(PP2A)subunit B56εis up-regulated in most tumors,and its high expression is a risk factor for adrenocortical c

记忆一般被视作知识最重要的来源之一,但记忆怀疑论主张,记忆并不能为我们提供关于过往事件的知识。现有文献中,两类记忆怀疑论最常被讨论,它们分别是基于记忆可靠性和基于不完全决定性的怀疑论。针对这两类怀疑论,当下最具代表性的两种回应方案分别借用了解释主义和析取主义的理论资源。文章首先指出了这两种回应各自的不足:解释主义回应无法证明诉诸记忆可靠性的解释为何是“最佳”的,且有循环论证之嫌;析取主义回应无法保证记忆在典型情况下一定具有事实性。随后,文章提出了一种新回应思路:上述两类怀疑论论证都存在“自我空洞化”问题,即,这些论证的结论会导致其前提丧失合理性基础。
