Quaternary intraplate magmatism formed several volcanic islands and seamounts,including Dokdo(DD),Ulleungdo(UD),Simheungtack(ST),Anyongbok,and Isabu in the southwest of the East Sea back-arc *** this study,we present whole-rock geochemical,zircon U–Pb age,and in situ O–Hf isotope data for the submerged volcanic rocks from DD,UD,and ST to provide new insights into the eruption timing of these volcanoes and constrain the magma evolution *** samples used in this study were trachytes and exhibited ferroan,alkalic,and metaluminous to weakly peraluminous *** showed light rare earth element(REE)-enriched patterns with(La/Yb)N ratios of 25.3–31.7 and mostly negative Eu anomalies in a chondrite-normalized REE *** addition,they were enriched in large-ion lithophile elements and high field strength elements;they exhibited positive Pb anomalies and strongly negative Ba,Sr,P,and Ti *** zircons yielded a weighted-mean 206Pb/238U age of 2.61,0.348–0.704,and 2.76–2.94 Ma for the DD,UD,and ST trachytes,*** zircons exhibited lowerδ^(18)O values than normal depleted mantle values,regardless of the crystallization age and spatial distribution of ***δ^(18)O values showed no correlation with U contents or Th/U ratios,indicating that the lowδ^(18)O signatures were of primary magmatic *** Hf isotopic compositions of the zircons were relatively heterogeneous but predominately characterized by positive eHf *** O–Hf mixing modeling revealed that low-δ^(18)O rocks with positive eHf values from the UD and ST volcanoes were derived from a hybrid source of recycled juvenile crustal materials with low-δ^(18)O and positive eHf signatures and an enriched mantle source with normalδ^(18)O and negative eHf *** juvenile oceanic crust in the source was likely metasomatized by seawater at high temperatures prior to *** contrast,the felsic magma that formed the DD volcanoes may have assimilated with regional

Reliable,wide range,and highly sensitive joint movement monitoring is essential for training activities,human behavior analysis,and human-machine ***,most current motion sensors work on the nano/microcracks induced by the tensile deformation on the convex surface of joints during joint movements,which cannot satisfy requirements of ultrawide detectable angle range,high angle sensitivity,conformability,and consistence under cyclic *** nature,scorpions sense small vibrations by allowing for compression strain conversion from external mechanical vibrations through crack-shaped slit ***,we demonstrated that ultraconformal sensors based on controlled slit structures,inspired by the geometry of a scorpion’s slit sensilla,exhibit high sensitivity(0.45%deg^(-1)),ultralow angle detection threshold(~15°),fast response/relaxation times(115/72 ms),wide range(15°~120°),and durability(over 1000 cycles).Also,a user-friendly,hybrid sign language system has been developed to realize Chinese and American sign language recognition and feedback through video and speech broadcasts,making these conformal motion sensors promising candidates for joint movement monitoring in wearable electronics and robotics technology.

We report a rare case of hypereosinophilic syndrome(HES)presenting with intractable gastric ulcers.A 71-year-old man was admitted with epigastric *** endoscopic findings revealed multiple,active gastric ulcers in the gastric *** underwent Helicobacter pylori(H pylori)eradication therapy followed by proton pump inhibitor(PPI)***,follow-up endoscopy at 4,6,10 and 14 mo revealed persistent multiple gastric ulcers without significant *** proportion of his eosinophil count increased to 43%(total count:7903/mm 3).Abdominal-pelvic and chest computed tomography scans showed multiple small nodules in the liver and both *** endoscopic biopsy specimen taken from the gastric antrum revealed prominent eosinophilic infiltration,and the liver biopsy specimen also showed eosinophilic infiltration in the portal tract and sinusoid.A bone marrow biopsy disclosed eosinophilic hyperplasia as well as increased cellularity of 70%.The patient was finally diagnosed with HES involving the stomach,liver,lung,and bone *** gastric ulcers do not improve despite H pylori eradication and prolonged PPI therapy,infiltrative gastric disorders such as HES should be considered.

Lithium-sulfur batteries(LSBs)have drawn significant attention owing to their high theoretical discharge capacity and energy ***,the dissolution of long-chain polysulfides into the electrolyte during the charge and discharge process(“shuttle effect”)results in fast capacity fading and inferior electrochemical *** this study,Mn_(2)O_(3)with an ordered mesoporous structure(OM-Mn_(2)O_(3))was designed as a cathode host for LSBs via KIT-6 hard templating,to effectively inhibit the polysulfide shuttle ***-Mn_(2)O_(3)offers numerous pores to confine sulfur and tightly anchor the dissolved polysulfides through the combined effects of strong polar-polar interactions,polysulfides,and sulfur chain *** OM-Mn_(2)O_(3)/S composite electrode delivered a discharge capacity of 561 mAh g-1 after 250 cycles at 0.5 C owing to the excellent performance of OM-Mn_(2)O_(3).Furthermore,it retained a discharge capacity of 628mA h g-1 even at a rate of 2 C,which was significantly higher than that of a pristine sulfur electrode(206mA h g-1).These findings provide a prospective strategy for designing cathode materials for high-performance LSBs.

Malignant fibrous histiocytoma, which is composed of spindle-shaped cells arranged in a pleomorphic and storiform pattern, is rarely found in the colorectum. Although complete surgical excision remains the main stem of therapy, an optimal treatment strategy according to the stage has not been elucidated. We report a case of a 63-year-old woman with an ulcerative lesion in the anorectal junction and a final diagnosis of malignant fibrous histiocytoma. We introduced an access for transanal local excision and adjuvant radiotherapy because the patient refused abdominoperineal resection. No local recurrences or distant metastases were observed 15 mo after the operation. To our knowledge, this is the first case reported in the English literature of a malignant fibrous histiocytoma treated with the transana local excision and adjuvant radiotherapy. This report showed that this approach is selectively reserved for early-stage malignant fibrous histiocytoma and for those patients who refuse radical surgery because of the risk in a permanent colostomy.

BACKGROUND Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis(HLH)is a rare,life-threatening disorder caused by abnormal histiocytes and T cell *** adults,it is predominantly associated with infections,cancers,and autoimmune *** polychondritis(RP),another rare disease,is diagnosed based on symptoms without specific tests,featuring cartilage inflammation characterized by swelling,redness,and pain,rarely inducing *** SUMMARY A 74-year-old woman visited the emergency room with a fever of 38.6℃.Blood tests,cultures,and imaging were performed to evaluate *** showed increased fluorescent antinuclear antibody levels and mild cytopenia,with no other specific *** revealed lymph node enlargement was observed;however,biopsy results were *** re-evaluation of the physical exam,inflammatory signs suggestive of RP were observed in the ears and nose,prompting a tissue biopsy for ***,persistent fever accompanied by cytopenia prompted a bone marrow examination,revealing hemophagocytic *** finding no significant results in blood culture,viral markers,and tissue examination of enlarged lymph nodes,HLH was diagnosed by *** involved methylprednisolone followed by *** two months,bone marrow examination confirmed resolution of hemophagocytosis,with normalization of hyperferritinemia and *** Thorough physical examination enabled diagnosis and treatment of HLH trig gered by RP in patients presenting with fever of unknown origin.
