The interplay between glucose metabolism and that of the two other primary nutrient classes, amino acids and fatty acids is critical for regulated insulin secretion. Mitochondrial metabolism of glucose, amino acid and fatty acids generates metabolic coupling factors(such as ATP, NADPH, glutamate, long chain acyl-CoA and diacylglycerol) which trigger insulin secretion. The observation of protein induced hypoglycaemia in patients with mutations in GLUD1 gene, encoding the enzyme glutamate dehydrogenase(GDH) and HADH gene, encoding for the enzyme short-chain 3-hydroxyacyl-CoA dehydrogenase has provided new mechanistic insights into the regulation of insulin secretion by amino acid and fatty acid metabolism. Metabolic signals arising from amino acid and fatty acid metabolism converge on the enzyme GDH which integrates both signals from both pathways and controls insulin secretion. Hence GDH seems to play a pivotal role in regulating both amino acid and fatty acid metabolism.

Importance of Generalized Logistic Distribution in Extreme Value Modeling

We consider a problem from stock market modeling, precisely, choice of adequate distribution of modeling extremal behavior of stock market data. Generalized extreme value (GEV) distribution and generalized Pareto (GP) distribution are the classical distributions for this problem. However, from 2004, [1] and many other researchers have been empirically showing that generalized logistic (GL) distribution is a better model than GEV and GP distributions in modeling extreme movement of stock market data. In this paper, we show that these results are not accidental. We prove the theoretical importance of GL distribution in extreme value modeling. For proving this, we introduce a general multivariate limit theorem and deduce some important multivariate theorems in probability as special cases. By using the theorem, we derive a limit theorem in extreme value theory, where GL distribution plays central role instead of GEV distribution. The proof of this result is parallel to the proof of classical extremal types theorem, in the sense that, it possess important characteristic in classical extreme value theory, for e.g. distributional property, stability, convergence and multivariate extension etc.

Synthesis, Characterization and Photoinduced Cis-Trans Isomerisation Studies on Lignin Modified with 4-[(E)-2-(3-hydroxynaphthalen-2-yl)diazen-1-yl] Benzoic Acid

In the present study, a photoresponsive chromophoric system such as 4-[(E)-2-(3-hydro xynaphthalen-2-yl)diazen-1-yl] benzoic acid was incorporated on to lignin core by functional transformation reactions and the photoresponsive beha-vior of the green, environment friendly product was investigated. The end hydroxyl group of lignin was modified with the chromophoric systems by DCC coupling. The chromophoric systems as well as the chromophore-bound biopolymer core systems were purified by column chromatography. The products were characterized by UV-visible, fluorescence, FT-IR and NMR spectroscopic methods. The results of the studies show that incorporation of the chromophoric system on to the lignin core enhanced the light absorption, emission and light stabilization properties of the chromophoric system. The light fastening properties of chromophoric system and the modified product were compared. It shows that stability of the chromophoric system greatly enhanced on attaching to the polymeric system. The trans-cis photoisomerisation and the reverse cis-trans thermal conversions were also assisted by the lignin core. The remarkable stability on irradiation shows that this is a novel photoresponsive system with excellent light fastening properties which would find application in coating materials, dyes, paints, inks, therapeutic agents and many more.

Osa-miR167d facilitates infection of Magnaporthe oryzae in rice

MicroRNAs(miRNAs)play important roles in rice response to Magnaporthe oryzae,the causative agent of rice blast *** the roles of rice miRNAs is of great significance for the disease ***-miR167d belongs to a conserved miRNA family targeting auxin responsive factor(ARF)genes that act in developmental and stress-induced ***,we show that OsamiR167d plays a negative role in rice immunity against *** by suppressing its target *** expression of Osa-miR167d was significantly suppressed in a resistant accession at and after 24 h post inoculation(hpi),however,its expression was significantly increased at 24 hpi in the susceptible accession upon *** *** rice lines over-expressing Osa-miR167d were highly susceptible to multiple blast fungal *** contrast,transgenic lines expressing a target mimicry to block OsamiR167d enhanced resistance to rice blast *** addition,knocking out the target gene ARF12 led to hypersusceptibility to multiple blast fungal *** together,our results indicate that Osa-miR167d negatively regulate rice immunity to facilitate the infection of *** by downregulating ***,Osa-miR167d-ARF12 regulatory module could be valuable in improvement of blast-disease resistance.

Whole miRNome-wide Differential Co-expression of MicroRNAs

Co-regulation of genes has been extensively analyzed, however, rather limited knowledge is available on co-regulations within the miRNome. We investigated differential co-expression of microRNAs （miRNAs） based on miRNome profiles of whole blood from 540 individuals. These include patients suffering from different cancer and non-cancer diseases, and unaffected controls. Using hierarchi- cal clustering, we found 9 significant clusters of co-expressed miRNAs containing 2-36 individual miRNAs. Through analyzing multiple sequencing alignments in the clusters, we found that co-expression of miRNAs is associated with both sequence similarity and genomic co-localization. We calculated correlations for all 371,953 pairs of miRNAs for all 540 individuals and identified 184 pairs of miRNAs with high correlation values. Out of these 184 pairs of miRNAs, 16 pairs （8.7%） were differentially co-expressed in unaffected controls, cancer patients and patients with non-cancer diseases. By computing correlated and anti-correlated miRNA pairs, we constructed a net- work with 184 putative co-regulations as edges and 100 miRNAs as nodes. Thereby, we detected specific clusters of miRNAs with high and low correlation values. Our approach represents the most comprehensive co-regulation analysis based on whole miRNome-wide expression profiling. Our findings further decrypt the interactions of miRNAs in normal and human pathological processes.

Background:Mosquito is a big threat to the human ***-borne diseases cause millions of death to the human ***,a permanent solution is eagerly to be established to control its excessive growth in stagnant *** oleracea Linn is a natural larvicidal agent,which contains active ingredients such as linolenic acid,linoleic acid(omega-3 fatty acids).These bioactive compounds may be responsible for its larvicidal properties on ***:The present study is focussed on identifying the bioactive compounds,such as linolenic acid,through GC-MS,and analyzing the larvicidal efficacy of Portulaca oleracea *** Culex quinquefasciatus and Anopheles stephensi ***:Preliminary phytochemical analysis,total protein content,total carbohydrate content,total phenol content,total flavonoid content and GC-MS analysis exhibited the presence of rich phytoconstituents in Portulaca *** analysis was carried out to analyze the antioxidant potential of plant *** activity and histological change were detected to evaluate the efficacy of Portulaca oleracea *** the Culex quinquefasciatus and Anopheles stephensi ***:Aqueous and ethanol leaf extracts of Portulaca oleracea *** both Culex quinquefasciatus and Anophe-les stephensi larvae,showed a very good larvicidal activity at 500μg/mL among the various ***-tological damages of mosquito larvae were observed when treated with the Portulaca oleracea ***,and provided further evidence for its larvicidal ***:This study concluded that the plant Portulaca oleracea *** many useful bioactive compounds,can be a strong larvicidal agent against both Culex quinquefasciatus and Anopheles stephensi *** molecular mechanism for the larvicidal activity will be identified in future studies.

Securing User Authentication with Server-Side Voice Verification

User authentication is critical to the security of any information system. The traditional text-based passwords and even biometric systems based on face and fingerprint validation suffer from various drawbacks. Voice-based authentication systems have emerged as an effective alternative method. Within the user authentication systems, the server-side voice authentication systems added advantages. The purpose of this paper is to present an innovative approach to the use of voice verification for user authentication. This paper describes a new framework for the implementation of server-side voice authentication, ensuring that only the users who are authenticated and validated can access the system. In addition to providing enhanced security and a more pleasant user experience, this technology has potential applications in a wide range of fields.

Effect of Cooling Conditions on Mechanical and Microstructural Behaviours of Friction Stir Processed AZ31B Mg Alloy

Friction stir processing (FSP) is an important microstructural alteration process used recently in the engineering field. Grains alteration and hence the mechanical properties of the possessed zone are controlled by the temperature, heating and cooling rate. In this work, AZ31B magnesium samples were friction stir processed in three different cooling conditions like air, water and cryogenic (liquid nitrogen) cooling. 1000 rpm and 60 mm/min were kept constant as tool rotation speed and traverse speed respectively in all the three mediums. The consequence of these conditions on thermal fields, axial force, resulting grain structure and mechanical properties?was?studied. It is found that the cryogenic treated friction stir processed samples exhibit fine grain structures and hence offer better mechanical properties than the air and water cooled processed samples.
