Deformation twinning from grain boundaries is often observed in face-centered cubic metals with low stacking fault *** of the possible factors that contribute to twinning origination from grain boundaries is the intergranular interactions during ***,the influence of mechanical interaction among grains on twin evolution has not been fully *** spite of extensive experimental and modeling efforts on correlating microstructural features with their twinning behavior,a clear relation among the large aggregate of grains is still *** this work,we characterize the micromechanics of grain-to-grain interactions that contribute to twin evolution by investigating the mechanical twins near grain boundaries using a full-field crystal plasticity simulation of a twinning-induced plasticity steel deformed in uniaxial tension at room *** are first observed through electron backscatter diffraction technique to obtain data to reconstruct a statistically equivalent microstructure through synthetic microstructure ***-to-grain micromechanical response is analyzed to assess the collective twinning behavior of the microstructural volume element under tensile *** of the simulated results reveal that grain interactions are capable of changing the local mechanical behavior near grain boundaries by transferring strain across grain boundary or localizing strain near grain boundary.

Hormonal replacement therapy and aging: Asian practical recommendations on testosterone supplementation

Profound and diffuse alterations in the production of gonadal and adrenal androgens as well as growth hormone are associated with aging. To convey this concept more appropriately, partial endocrine deficiency in the aging male (PEDAM) was introduced as a term for the phenomenon of hormonal alterations in the aging male. Hormones responsible for some of the manifestations associated with male aging are testosterone, growth hormone, dehydroepiansdrosterone (DHEA), melatonin, thyroid hormones and leptin. Of these, testosterone has been widely investigated and its beneficial and adverse effects on male bodily systems are relatively well established. However, a serious body of confusion and misunderstandings surrounding the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of men suspected of having androgen deficiency has been raised. Therefore, it is timely to provide practical criteria for diagnosis and treatment to avoid misconception about the use of testosterone in the aging male. To provide an understanding and information of the issues, the following headings are summarized: (1) Important clinical consideration on testosterone supplementation in the aging male; (2) Asian practical recommendations on testosterone supplementation in the aging male.

Video Frame Prediction by Joint Optimization of Direct Frame Synthesis and Optical-Flow Estimation

Video prediction is the problem of generating future frames by exploiting the spatiotemporal correlation from the past frame *** is one of the crucial issues in computer vision and has many real-world applications,mainly focused on predicting future scenarios to avoid undesirable ***,modeling future image content and object is challenging due to the dynamic evolution and complexity of the scene,such as occlusions,camera movements,delay and *** frame synthesis or optical-flow estimation are common approaches used by ***,researchers mainly focused on video prediction using one of the *** methods have limitations,such as direct frame synthesis,usually face blurry prediction due to complex pixel distributions in the scene,and optical-flow estimation,usually produce artifacts due to large object displacements or obstructions in the *** this paper,we constructed a deep neural network Frame Prediction Network(FPNet-OF)with multiplebranch inputs(optical flow and original frame)to predict the future video frame by adaptively fusing the future object-motion with the future frame *** key idea is to jointly optimize direct RGB frame synthesis and dense optical flow estimation to generate a superior video prediction *** various real-world datasets,we experimentally verify that our proposed framework can produce high-level video frame compared to other state-ofthe-art framework.

Texture adjustment approach of magnesium alloys via variable strain path calculated by an integrated finite element-viscoplastic self-consistent model

An integrated calculated approach based on weakly coupled finite element(FEM)-viscoplastic selfconsistent(VPSC)model was established to simulate the texture evolution during the variable strain path extrusion process of magnesium *** spiral die extrusion(SDE)process with additional circumferential shear deformation was applied to investigate the effect of path control on texture adjustment and verify the accuracy of the *** results indicated that the additional spiral shear resulting from the overall inclined flow path effectively reduced the intensity of the{0002}//ED fiber texture by suppressing basal slip activation in the core area,while the local shear deformation along the spiral equal channel strain path led to the formation of an inclined{0002}//ND plane texture on the *** the modified Hall-Petch relationship,the correlation between texture and yield strength was ***,the weakening of the texture effectively suppressed{10-12}tensile twinning,which compensated for the deficiency of compressive yield strength without significantly sacrificing tensile yield strength,and thus improved the tension-compression ***,the strongly inclined{0002}//ND plane texture inhibited the widespread activation of basal slip during tensile yielding,thereby enhancing the yield strength.

An unsteady three-dimensional analysis of the ventilation performance is carried out for different ventilation strategies to find out a ventilation method with a high performance in a subway *** natural ventilation performance associated with a train-induced air flow in a subway tunnel is *** dynamic layering method is used to consider the moving boundary of a train in the current CFD *** geometries of the modeled tunnel and the subway train are partially based on those of the Seoul *** effects of the structure of the ventilation duct and the geometry of the partitions on the ventilation performance are *** results show that the combined ventilation ducts （to be designed）,and the partitioning blocks installed along the middle of tunnel （already in existences） are helpful for air *** study can provide some guidance for the design of ventilation ducts in a subway system.

During the past decade,there has been extensive research toward the possibility of exploring magnesium and its alloys as biocompatible and biodegradable materials for implantable *** practical medical application,however,has been limited to specific areas owing to rapid corrosion in the initial stage and the consequent *** coatings can significantly reduce the initial corrosion of Mg alloys,and several studies have been carried out to improve the adhesion strength of the coating to the surfaces of the *** composition of hydroxyapatite(HAp)is very similar to that of bone tissue;it is one of the most commonly used coating materials for bone-related implants owing to favorable osseointegration *** this study,HAp was coated on Mg using nanosecond laser coating,combining the advantages of chemical and physical *** heat generated in the liquid precursor by the laser improved the adhesion of the coating through the precipitation and growth of HAp at the localized nanosecond laser focal area and increased the corrosion resistance and cell adhesion of *** physical,crystallographic,and chemical bondings were analyzed to explore the mechanism through which the surface adhesion between Mg and the HAp coating layer *** applicability of the coating to Mg screws used for clinical devices and improvement in its corrosion property were *** liquid environment-based laser surface coating technique offers a simple and quick process that does not require any chemical ligands,and therefore,overcomes a potential obstacle in its clinical use.

We consider a Lotka-Volterra prey-predator model with cross-diffusion and Holling type-II functional *** main concern is the existence of positive solutions under the combined effect of cross-diffusion and Holling type-II functional ***,a positive solution corresponds to a coexistence state of the ***,we study the sufficient conditions to ensure the existence of positive solutions by using degree theory and analyze the coexistence region in parameter *** addition,we present the uniqueness of positive solutions in one dimension ***,we study the stability of the trivial and semi-trivial solutions by analyzing the principal eigenvalue of the corresponding linearized system,and then we characterize the stable/unstable regions of semi-trivial solutions in parameter plane.

Stone extraction balloon-guided repeat self-expanding metal stent placement

Self-expanding metal stent (SEMS) placement offers safe and effective palliation in patients with upper gastrointestinal obstruction due to a malignancy. Well described complications of SEMS placement include tumor growth, obstruction, and stent migration. SEMS occlusions are treated by SEMS redeployment, argon plasma coagulation application, balloon dilation, and surgical bypass. At our center, we usually place the second SEMS into the first SEMS if there is complete occlusion by the tumor. We discovered an unusual complication during SEMS redeployment. The guide-wire passed through the mesh of the first SEMS and caused the second SEMS to become entangled with the first SEMS. This led to the distortion and malfunction of the second SEMS, which worsened the gastric outlet obstruction. For lowering the risk of entanglement, we studied stone extraction balloon-guided repeat SEMS placement. This is the first report of a SEMS entangled by the mesh of the first SEMS and stone extraction balloon-guided repeat SEMS placement for lowering the risk of this complication.

Volume Estimation of Small Scale Debris Flows Based on Observations of Topographic changes Using Airborne LiDAR DEMs

This paper describes a geographic information system(GIS)-based method for observing changes in topography caused by the initiation, transport, and deposition of debris flows using highresolution light detection and ranging(LiDAR) digital elevation models(DEMs) obtained before and after the debris flow events. The paper also describes a method for estimating the volume of debris flows using the differences between the LiDAR DEMs. The relative and absolute positioning accuracies of the LiDAR DEMs were evaluated using a real-time precise global navigation satellite system(GNSS) positioning method. In addition, longitudinal and cross-sectional profiles of the study area were constructed to determine the topographic changes caused by the debris flows. The volume of the debris flows was estimated based on the difference between the LiDAR DEMs. The accuracies of the relative and absolute positioning of the two LiDAR DEMs were determined to be ±10 cm and ±11 cm RMSE, respectively, which demonstrates the efficiency of the method for determining topographic changes at an scale equivalent to that of field investigations. Based on the topographic changes, the volume of the debris flows in the study area was estimated to be 3747 m3, which is comparable with the volume estimated based on the data from field investigations.
